My tap is underneath my decking and awkward to get to, to turn off and on. If I connect a hose link reel would I be able to leave the tap on constantly without leaks or risk of the mains pressure blowing it off?

I am a user of many Hoselink products however, this issue should be addressed to the Hoselink customer service section. I have found them eager to answer any queries their clients may have.

I have received my solar sensor lights and was surprised they stayed on at a low setting and brightened when motioned detected. Unfortunately, I live in Southern Tasmania and winter has about 5 to 6 hrs of usable sunlight to charge. As they seem to not get fully charged during our colder seasons, will full discharges reduce battery life?

1 answer

Hoselink O.Hoselink

Hi Anthony,
Thank you for getting in touch.
Full discharges while the battery is not fully charged will not effect its life. While we recommend the lights get 6-8 hours of sun to fully charge we understand that this is not always possible. The lights will still function normally with a lower charge but just not for as long.
Thanks again - The Hoselink Team.

Think You should call Hoselink Help Desk as this should not happen.

I agree with John, do not open the reel . Hoselink will answer your question if you ring them after Easter.
I think you have to be careful in the way you pull the hose out as well as watching carefully as the hose retracts.
It will not retract properly if you just let it retract on its own.

Never been a problem for me. Best thing is to make sure you keep it under control while it is rewinding

Hoselink
Hoselink O.Hoselink

Hi Brett,
Thank you for getting in touch and I am sorry to hear you are having issues with the hose crossing over.
That is good advise as well thanks John, always helps to walk the hose back in to keep it under control.
We do not recommend opening the unit and you should be able to fix this without needing to.
If you give the hose a few short sharp pulls this will hopefully get the hose out. Once out you can retract it back in nice and slowly to layer it properly.
If this does not work, please don't hesitate to contact out Customer Service team and they will be happy to discuss this further and have this rectified for you.
Thanks again - The Hoselink Team.

It might be that the end of the hose where it is attached is not a straight clean cut. There are videos on Hoselink about leaks and how to fix them. Otherwise you can ring them. I hope this helps

You will need to contact Hoselink as I’m sure it would with the right connectors.
They also sell their own product. Please see the link below.

yes. Hoselink offer a timer system.

Hoselink
Hoselink O.Hoselink

Hi Valerie, if you have a non-hoselink timer then you will need to note the outlet on that timer. If it is a male click on fitting then you will need our click on adapter set. If it is a normal tap thread then you can use our tap connector. Either way, yes you can connect your Hoselink hose to your timer. We are going to be bringing out our own tap timer very soon. my hoselink will only come out 15 meters

Checking the Hoselink web site, I see the retractable hose reels come in 20, 25, and 30 metre hose lengths. If it is one of these but only releases 15 metres, there's nothing one can do. These are sealed units with powerful spring mechanisms. I suggest contacting Hoselink support. (I must admit not everyone here followed the recommendation to have the returning hose run thru a rag to keep the internal mechanisms clean. We now do.)

jonh2o
jonh2o

You haven't stipulated which length you purchased. Hoselink does sell a 15 metre unit. I have both 15 metre and 30 metre Hoselink retractable hose reels. See: https://www.hoselink.com.au/collections/hose-reels-retractable

Hoselink
Hoselink O.Hoselink

Hi Edgar, thank you for taking the time to contact us. We are so sorry to hear about this. Is it only retracting part of the hose not all of it? If the hose is crossed over itself on the inside of the unit then you may need you use a bit of force. Put one hand on the unit and one hand on the hose and give it a few short sharp tugs. This should hopefully untangle it. From there pull the hose out to it's full extent and then slowly walk the hose back in. Hope this is helpful. If it does not work you will need to contact our customer service team to organise a repair. Kind regards, The Hoselink Team

Hello Dave. Thanks for reaching out. We do sell a replacement hose for $30. I am not sure if other brands would be compatible as I can only speak on behalf of Hoselink products. However if the hose is the same diameter it should work perfectly fine.

Hoselink
Hoselink O.Hoselink

Hi Dorothy, thanks for your question. Sorry to hear you're experiencing a leak from the joins. If it sprays out from the joins, then it's probably due to a missing o-ring. There needs to be an o-ring in each fitting to create the water-tight seal. Can you please check there is one in each side? If you are missing one (or both) this will be causing the leak. We can send you some spare o-rings to fix this, so please get in contact with us at [email protected] and we can organise this for you. Thanks so much for your time. Kind regards, The Hoselink Team

Hi Craig, thanks for your question. Yes, our Universal Tap Connectors fit onto any standard size tap in Australia (3/4" or 1"). As Patricia said, the hose fittings are for 12mm hoses (internal diameter) and we also sell fittings for 18mm hoses. Both 12mm and 18mm fittings come with the Universal Tap Connectors to fit the 2 standard sizes in Australia. I hope this helps! Thanks so much for your time. Kind regards, The Hoselink Team

Chrisasked

G'day,

I've just plumbed your Misting Tap Timer into the hose line which is hooked up to a mist system. The timer is hooked up by tap > two way splitter > Timer > 30m hose to greenhouse > misting system.

In testing prior to fitting the timer the hose/misting system didn't break the connection, with the tap turned on 1/4 turn. I'm wondering if there might be a valve in the Misting Tap Timer that isn't activating, so that it shuts off the water through the timer into the hose? As soon as the frequency is reached the connection breaks at the hose > misting system.

Thanks for your help in advance,
Chris

Hi, just installed a misting system, has two short runs off one line (essentially a u shape) just a problem with them dripping in between runs with the timer. Would two of the drain valves at the end of the runs stop this issue? Also had it plumed strait to the tap and after disconnecting and installing the timer the two misters at the start of each run wouldn’t work.. air in the line possibly ? Any advice would be great cheers all
