An excellent investment. My son falls asleep so easily in it.
We bought the hugabug when our baby was around 2.5 months old and my first thought when I tried it was - wish I bought it earlier! My son is now over 6 months old and we still use it. Especially since we're frequent travellers it has come extra handy for flying and airport travelling with it on. First time, it takes practice putting it on (you need a mirror) but now I can put it on without looking. The trick is to make sure the material isn't gathered around your lower back and shoulder blades. If its all bunched up it'll create a pressing pres...Read more
sure on your body which is probably why some people have complained about soreness, make sure its all stretched out. Speaking of stretched out, if you machine wash it, it will shrink a little but CAN be stretched out again. The pocket at the front was perfect for carrying my phone and dangling my keys on bag free outings. My son falls asleep so easily in it and can stay asleep for hours! It was a good investment for us personally :)

Wouldn't rave about it
Have used for my 3kg newborn a couple of times. It is ok. She seems happy enough but I see how it would get hot quickly. I am a small person (55kg) and find it has stretched a bit at the front, not sure why? It is easy to use as far as tying it on. For some reason after a while I find it starts to hurt my upper back where it is tied. Not sure if anyone else has experienced this? Am hoping to get a lot more use out of it however as it is a relatively expensive baby item and is essentially just a well marketed peice of material. Would recommend a second hand one to buyers.

Good for baby and parent
Bought second hand hug a bub after looking at all the different options and brands. I found it very comfortable to wear with my 9 week old. I think this would've been perfect with newborn as it keeps baby wrapped rather snug against you, my baby is already a bit wriggly. Nice material and very comfortable. Easy to tie on, took a couple of practice runs. Overheating not a problem in Tasmania but I could see how it could be in warmer weather.

My baby loves it!
So happy with my purchase. We have an Ergobaby which he also loves but there's a big height and size difference between me and my husband and having to fit the Ergobaby each time was becoming annoying. My baby isn't really fussy but he does have his days. He falls asleep almost immediately whenever I put him in the wrap. He is now 6 weeks old and almost 5kg. I'm 5'2" and 57kg. I hardly feel his weight. Took me 2 days of practising to tie the wrap. Found the front cross carry a lot easier to tie. Takes me less than 5 minutes to tie it now.

Not For Everyone
Definitely not for everyone. I loved the idea, so I purchased one for my newborn but she hated it!
She didn't like how much it squished her and how she couldn't move at all, she would scream bloody murder every time she was in it. Changed her to the Bjorn and she was happy as pie.
It's also very very hard to put on, especially when you are alone, also found it hard to get bubs in it.
I tried selling it and no one would take it, I ended up having to give it to a friend for free. Waste of money if you ask me. I recommend trying it on with your baby first to see if you like it and if your baby is happy to be that squished against you.

Hi Tiffany
We agree... no one babycarrier style or baby product is for everyone. Most babies, love to be held snug and close to their carer, especially during the newborn - 4 month phase and of course... Read more

Love it!
I purchased this when DD was 6 weeks old. Wish I had come across it sooner as it's been very valuable, allowing me to get things done around the house - cleaning, dishes and laundry, as well as run around with my 2-year-old. Also love the skin to skin contact and knowing DD is securely in place. Head is very well supported and as long as fabric is spread out evenly, no tension or marks evident on legs. My DD is almost 4 months old now and I still use it. No back problems or shoulder pains as long as the fabric over shoulders are spread out even...Read more
ly and so comfortable. Tying technique was a breeze and easy to get the hang of. I use it around the house, as well as out and about. I usually alternate between the wrap and the pram. When DD has had enough of lying in the pram, I put her in the sling - no problems!Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Good. But not for older babies.
Once you get the hang of tying the thing it's pretty easy to work. I wish I would have bought one when my son was younger, I purchased it when he was around 6 months and by that time he was wanting to look around and didn't want to face me. I bought it at that point as they say you can use them up until 4 years, he's now 13 months and theirs no way he'd sit in it.

My new favourite carrier!
I really enjoy babywearing with my son as it makes it so much easier to get things done & he loves it also. He will sleep a lot longer and more peacefully in a wrap than he does in his bassinet. Within minutes of putting him in he will drop off. I didn't have any problems with tying as I already had a Moby wrap and was used to using that. If you have problems initially just be patient and youtube it, try a few times, once you get the hang of it it's really quick and easy to put on and well worth it. I do prefer the Hug a Bub over the Moby as I ...Read more
find the fabric of the Moby is stretchier so after wearing for a while my son starts getting lower on my chest which hasn't happened so far with the Hug a Bub (my son is only 9 weeks old and just under 5kg at the moment). I got mine using my Qantas Frequent Flyer points, I'm not sure I would have paid the $100 to get it otherwise - even though I love it - only because I already had 2 Moby wraps which I only paid $30 each for! If you have the money and feel like you will be using it a lot I would still recommend getting the Hug a Bub wrap over others. If you want the budget option go on Ebay for a Moby, it's not quite as good but still an awesome carrier. My son has been a lot less fussy in general since I started wearing him in wraps around the house, even when he's having a 'bad day', once I pop him in he'll settle within minutes and I get some much needed peace, so if you have a fussy baby it's definitely worth a try, could save your sanity :)Similar opinion? Regrettable purchase
It's not living up to expectations as I don't find it's very comfortable for me or my baby. I need to hold her head each time so it doesn't fall to the side. I worry about the cloth around her legs and if it's cutting into her legs. Seems like a lot of tension around little legs. (And yes Hug a Bub - I know how to wear this properly - I have followed your 20 odd steps on how to put it on). I don't use it around the house as its just as practical to carry my baby given I need one hand to hold her head anyway. I don't use it outside the home as I...Read more
have a pram. I used it to travel solo on a plane to walk through the terminal. That's been the only benefit so far. Now it lives in the cupboard... I hate that the long cloth falls on the floor too. Yep, biggest baby purchase mistake easily to date. I know I'm the exception given the good reviews on here, but this is my experience with it.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Wasn't for us!
I purchased a hug-a-bub after reading so many great reviews. We were rather late to purchase, bubs was 5 weeks and a big boy. He hated it, every time I used it he just cried. I can only guess as he was already so big it was not comfortable. We now purchased a different baby carrier which he loves, easy to use and falls asleep all the time in it.

Love it for Kangaroo Care
Love that I can use the wrap for skin to skin/kangaroo care with new born. Wished I had thought to take to hospital when I had C-Section and was in hospital for a week. Skin to skin with a bit more security and coverage while family and staff were in and out of my room would have been lovely! The wrap is great. Love that I don't have to worry about chemicals and dyes because this product is organic! Buy two--one to use while you wash the other.

Indispensable!
I have my second baby sitting my in Hugabub as I write this. I love this contraption, it allowed/allows me to live my life and love my babies at the same time. It is the most comfortable carrier that I have come across and I am able to do my housework, go shopping and comfort my baby at the same time. I also find that both my children could sleep or be at ease for longer periods whilst being worn and this meant less frequent feeds and each feed being more 'substantial ' if that makes sense - my personal theory being no need for comfort feeds, o...Read more
nly actual hunger feeds (also therefore more hind milk if you're breastfeeding, and therefore more nutritious). It can be a bit complicated to get the hang of putting on, but with a bit of practice I got it and figured out the nuances. Good thing is you don't have to take off the Hugabub whilst driving, so I tie it on at home, and then pop the baby into it when I get to the shops etc. Makes it much easier to run errands as only the baby gets in and out of the car. Having said this, my husband can't hack it so we have the Ergo (performance) with infant insert for him. I find the hugabub cooler and more ergonomic, but the Ergo is easier to hack and great for when kids are older and you can strap them on piggy back style. I used the Ergo until my toddler decided that walking was preferable to being carried (around 2 1/2 years old). Other positives are the way the baby's head is supported, and how it is possible to shield the baby completely from the sun (head, feet and arms) whilst still allowing enough ventilation from the sides and through the fabric to breathe. The Hugabub can be a bit dear for what it is but my thinking: a) even though it would be much cheaper and easy to make, I can't sew (I suspect I'm not the only one); b) damn sight cheaper than your average cheap pram - certainly tremendously better value then my wasted $1000+ pram that I almost never used between the Hugabub and Ergo; c) friends got together and bought it as a gift, so I didn't pay anyway. All in all, I love it and it's up there with my boobs, nappies, car capsule and dummies in terms of my personal baby necessities.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

d wrap so it doesn't feel loose at the front. The tightening part of tying is well explained in a video at hugabub.com. Also, organic cotton products may stretch a little, and it's easy to give them back their bounce with a cold machine wash and line dry. Spreading out the fabric over your upper back and shoulders will stop it hurting. Finally, we love shopping secondhand, and Hug-a-Bubs do hold their value :) Just check secondhand carriers are in good condition with no torn or frayed seams or edges.
