Roomba 690

I have a iRobot 670, if I set up barriers for cleaning but the dock station is out of this area, will the robot go until it runs out of battery or will it shut off when the area is completed?
Thanks

Roomba 690

Just bought a 690 for my wife for Christmas. Two questions: 1. it doesn't try to return to the charging station, which is set up as the instructions direct; i.e., no barriers. It runs until the battery runs out then it just stops in place. 2. It seems random redirecting itself when it nudges an obstacle. We find we have to let it run into a foot or a barrier placed in the way to try to get it to complete a room and then it sometimes follows the same track where it has previously been. Isn't it supposed to keep track of where it has been?

Good Morning Evan
This model Roomba will only clean as much of the house as it can in its approx 60 minute run time. The iAdapt Navigation System on this model uses your walls and furniture to help the Roomba navigate the home. This being said, you will find this Roomba will clean sections multiple times more than others.

We have found some customers are setting their charging stations up at a location at one end of the home, making it little harder for the Roomba to make it back before the battery runs out. We recommend having the charging station in a central location or if required adding a second charging station, so the Roomba can return to the closest one for charging.

Good Morning PamB
Without seeing the type of rug it is trying to get on it is had to advise. I have found with my personal Roomba and a lighter style rug, the Roomba may curl the edges when it is trying to get on. If you would like to send a video of this to us at [email protected] we may be able to supply you with a better response.

HI Linda
As long as it is not to plush and it can rest up against the wall, there should be an issue with setting the dock up on carpet.

Hi Bruce
It is possible that the wifi and your Rooba my have lost communication at some point. If you remove the app from your phone, factory reset your Roomba by holding the "spot", "clean" and "home" buttons down together for 10 secs, at which point the Roomba will play a tune to advise it has been reset. The re establish the app you should fin the map and notifications should resume.

Roomba 690

Hi,
I have a Roomba 690 which is wifi connected. I have it scheduled to run in the morning before I get up which has been working great. However, I've started to notice that it's been running longer than an hour lately and the "return home" light isn't going on within it's normal running time, which for that unit is an hour. I've been using the app to cancel the job and return home after an hour and 45 minutes when the battery is very low. Is there a sensor that needs to be cleaned that tells the Roomba when it's time to return to the base or is that in the software inside the unit? Will using the app to Reset the Roomba to factory settings fix my issue? Thanks for any help you might provide.

HI Pali P
The Roomba 690 has a run time of approximately 60 minutes, depending on the surface it is cleaning and the objects around you may find you are getting longer than this.

If you can please test the Roomba by allowing it to run a full cycle and not asked it to return home to see if it can return on its own. If it doesn't, please contact us on 1300 727 421.

Thank you for making contact with iRobot via the Product Review Questions page.

The Roomba 690 series Roomba intelligently navigates your home: iAdapt® Navigation uses a full suite of intelligent sensors to guide the robot under and around furniture to help thoroughly clean your floors. However there is no set pattern to the iAdapt® Navigation.

Roomba 690

First use of my new roomba 690 and it only did part of the house and went back to the docking station, docked and lights shut off. Does it start up again and finish the house? Having trouble down loading the wi fi capabilities. For such an expensive machine it is kind of frustrating. Please help!

Hey I don't run mine on Wi-Fi so can't help there. Mine goes back for a recharge or if it's full. Once docked you do have to restart. Id start with a check that it's fully charged and not full. Mine does about half the house at a time before it's full but it takes 30 secs to empty so I run it more often (not roombas fault I have lots and lots of pets so lots of d dust and fur and my hair.,) otherwise take it back to the store and ask for help. I deliberately bought it at my local jbjifi (No I don't work for them) specifically so I could go in for help. Also many room bas will tell you what's wrong, e.g. it might flash an orange light and dock (it's tired) it might beep and say something if it's tangled. Hope this helps

Good Afternoon Shelley
Sadly the Roomba 690 does not have recharge and resume capabilities, once it has completed the cycle it's battery allows it will return to the home base and recharge only. If you wanting further cleaning, you will need to manually ask the Roomba either by pushing the clean button or via the app.
We have found a few customer are having a little trouble getting the app and Roomba to sync. We have found this can be due to the wifi rotor running on 5ghtz rather than 2.4. We also recommend having everything together within 3 feet of each for the set up process. Once everything is setup you can move you Roomba to any location in the home, as long as it still has access to the wifi it will work.

I find that the base is not heavy enough to remain stable or still as the roomba is attempting to dock (on a solid surface), and i end up having to basically pick it up and dock it manually. Is there anyway to correct this?

Personally i don't use the base.
I manually plug the Roomba in which saves the base hassle. In my case i live in a multi-story home so i need to carry it to its new cleaning destination anyway.

If you don't want to do it like this you could stick double-sided tape or high-friction matting under it?

I haven’t had a problem with ‘Harry’ docking at all. I set the docking station up, in each room, right up against a wall. Haven’t read that others have had this problem. I make sure the power cord is not under the docking station which is sometimes on carpet and sometimes on solid timber floors.

Depending on the floor type if the Home Base is not push up against a wall it is possible it may move around. It may be worth trying a couple of small pieces of blue-tack on the bottom to see if they may hold it in place.

I have a roomba 600 series. It is new, only used since January. It will not clean my entire house. It stays concentrated by the base and will not go down a well lit hallway. I have checked and cleaned everything. What can I do to ensure it cleans everywhere?
