I purchased my MUX 2wd in August 2016, and it is a 2016.5 2wd LST,with the 5 speed auto transmission. It was primarily for towing our 18ft van which weighs roughly 1750kg loaded. We have travelled 63ks since then, and the only fault I have found is the fuel tank is a little small for the long distance traveller. We had a 116l tank fitted so it is no longer a problem.

This vehicle was purchased primarily as a long distance/ tow vehicle in late December 2013. It has just clocked up 190000 trouble free kilometers, still on original suspension and brake pads, and its third set of tyres are relatively new. Apart from a bust turbo when relatively new AFTER a service, replaced under warranty, there have been no breakdowns or any repair work required - servicing only.

I bought the ISUZU MU-X over a Prado because of the 5 year warranty. I've had two warranty claims with terrible service/communication from the dealer at Chullora. They have repeatedly lied to me, don't seem to know the vehicle (didn't know where the fuel pump was). They tell me it will be ready, don't answer their phones and then I find out it's not ready when I try to pick it up (this happened 6 times for the one warranty claim).

In 2014 we purchased an MUX and we are very happy with it however we brought the car to tow a 22ft caravan. We had an Isuzu towbar installed. Last year on out travels the towbar completely snapped as it was rusted through. The caravan came off the car. We were very lucky we were about to set up for the night when this happened. Just got the 2016 MU-X. It pulls the new 21’ caravan very well, even without the Haymen Reece on. Fuel eco is OK. I do have three concerns.
1. The rear boot space is tiny, I am used to X-Trail or Prado type drawers and space. I might have to rip out the third row of seats.

I bought last years model, MY15.5, in Jan 2017. I was looking at getting the 2017 model, but was finding it difficult to find specific details about it apart from it had a 6 speed transmission. Our MU-X also is 2 years old and has done 70,000km. Discovered the crack earlier this year, which prompted us to show it to the local Isuzu dealer we purchased it off. They advised we drive it only on bitumen until the repairs are complete, then applied to have the crack fixed under warranty.
