Any nifty ideas on how to get onto main bed in a hawk. We're using a step, but it's still quite high and we're not as young and spritely as we use to be. Any ideas or suggestions very welcome

I need to replace the curtains in my Outback Hawk. Does anyone have the actual measurements of all the curtains including the ruffle that runs around the top and how much fabric I need.

Recently bought a 2007 Jayco Hawk. After first trip away, we are very happy. We want to put a roof rack on. Jayco don't have one for 2007 model so am looking at generic brand that is adjustable. My question what is the best way to mount it side mount or top. I guess it depends on the position and size of frame. Can anyone help?

Has any one adapted storage space for a porta pot
3 answers
The Jayco Dove is designed for floor space - hence the pull out beds. That doesn't leave any space which you could adapt to store a porta potti whilst camped up. With the Penguin and its fixed bed you have a good area beneath the bed which I think you might be able to adapt.
Having said that, storing a porta potti whilst you are towing from A to B is not a problem - there is plenty of floor space and you just have to make sure that it is securely fixed in place for transit - you wouldn't want it sliding around as you go around corners! Some D rings fixed to the floor and/or bulkheads do the job OK. That only leaves the question of how you use the potti whilst camped. A small toilet tent is a perfectly adequate solution to this, and we have used this ourselves in the past. If you wanted to be a bit more creative you could use the external area which is beneath one of the pull out beds. This would require making up a canvas wall as a privacy screen which would afix around the underside of the bed base, with a few tent pegs to hold this down. You could also use the same idea to provide a dry outside storage area for muddy boots and other kit.
Thanks Keith I wondered ifwe temoved the oven and used the the space and under oven cupboard would it be a solution
You could do that, although obviously you lose the oven and depending on model also the hob. If you don't use the oven and ( if necessary) substitute a portable stove for the hob then its do-able. You would still have to pull the potti out whenever you need to use it, and then that raises privacy issues. Some couples may not mind, but it might be a bit of an issue for families. That's where a toilet tent or some form of external screening wins out, in which case you only need transit floor space and don't need to sacrifice the oven or any cupboard space.

tow ball height of 2015 outback hawk?
2 answers
I can't give an authorative answer on that never having owned a Hawk. However I see no reason why the suspension on the Dove should be any different to the Hawk. The tow ball height on the Dove is 57 cm to the top of the towball. That is quite high due to the extra ground clearance for outback use, and is about 14 cm higher than the standard towball height on my 4x4.
Thank you for that Keith.

How do you stop the beds getting wet if it has rained prior to collapsing the top on Jayco Hawk?

We cover the mattress (when bedding removed) with a cheap small tarp.
We use shower curtains over the mattresses. Also packing up under the bed fly ends helps.

Hi, I have looked everywhere on line but can't seem to find proper dimensions. Could anyone please tell me what the length of the bed is when the table is down? Is it only suitable as a small child's bed? Also, does the Hawke model have the option to convert the club lounge into a double/queen when the table is down or do you you have to do this mod yourself? Thanks!!!

Our 10 year old daughter sleeps in the dinette bed with the table down. It's just short of the size of a single bed. Definately not long enough for an adult. We've got the swan and the club lounge converted to a bed is long enough for an adult.
Thanks for taking the time to respond! You've helped a lot. Cheers

My suggestion is check the cigarette lighter connection at the back of the sink and make sure you have good contact
Also check cigarette lighter connection behind the sink for rust and in the female connection
Also check the battery switch which should be down near the floor
Otherwise talk to Jayco service dept or a caravan servicing place

what size are the beds in jayco hawk..double or queen?

Our camper is a Flamingo which has a so called Queen front at 1460 wide and double at the back at 1310 compared with 1140 Hawk. Have a look at:
http://www.google.com.au/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&ved=0CB0QFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.jayco.com.au%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2F2013%2F10%2FCamper_Brochure_Round11.pdf&ei=xCaOVbmqNorl8AWumKigBA&usg=AFQjCNETGJTLGuOf6pHlj_jYKNug2B2ZFw&sig2=8Upt4Ct-v4xn9_rlcZEQsw&bvm=bv.96783405,d.dGc
The Hawk is on the same platform as the Dove with a smaller rear bed than the Flamingo/Swan. Still better than the 1200 wide both ends of the older Jay series (Jayswan, Jayhawk etc campers! Hope that helps.
