This car is possibly one of the worst cars I have ever had to work on nothing about it is good, everything that I have had to do to this car has made me want to commit commit mass murder I honestly cannot fathom for whatever reason this car was made, was it to make people hate the things that they love?

Surprisingly not good

Cherokee KJ (2001-2007)

My KJ jeep worked wel for 50,000 kilometres and then went berserk... Fuel line issues, terrible to start and the Canberra Jeep people were appalling. I spent nearly 8 grand trying to fix it and gave up, bought a hilux and no troubles after 180k. Don't buy a jeep in ACT is my advice.
Handled well
After 50k no service or support

Rockin4x4Roland
Rockin4x4Roland ·

Surely if the vehicle had only travelled 50,000 km it would have been covered by new car warrantee. So why did you spend nearly $8,000 to fix it? Have you not told us the complete story?

Like I stated in my above comment to Ben. Take it to another dealer. Contrary to public opinion, they are not all incompetent.

Terrible

Cherokee KK (2008-2013)

24 hours after i took delivery of it i had the displeasure of watching it winched onto a tow truck when it broke down, a sight i am now used to having wathced it 4x since. the car simply loses all power and acceleration making it dangerous. jeep have walked around scratching their head and using me as guinea pig as they have tried to fix - unsuccessfully. Steer clear I would buy a skateboard before i touched a jeep again.
Nothing. Have had the car 16 months and it has been towed 5 times!!
Jeep cannot fix a recurring problem which has meant they have my vehicle for 12 weeks since October. They do not have a clue what is wrong but wont replace the car.

Expensive to run, nothing but trouble - water dripping down from the air conditioner wrecked the carpet and stereo, all dash equipment died, it was only four years old! Will never get another or recommend!

Terrible

Cherokee KJ (2001-2007)

I purchased this car new, it was the 2.8 Turbo diesel, after 14mths of in and out of the work shop I couldn't wait to get rid of it, I will never buy and American built car again, it simply was not engineerd for Australia, it had engine and transmission software upgrades (5 in total) it needed to have a transmission cooler fitted (recall), fuel pump replaced, High pressure fuel rail replaced, fuel lines replaced due to leaks which sent diesel fumes into cabin, ambient temp sensor replaced, glow plugs replaced, brake switch replaced (was preventing cruise control operation) and the lsit gos on and on

Cherokee KJ (2001-2007)

Wouldbuy another in a flash if my wife allows me to ever sell this one. I just wish they did a bit more in the new one to make her convinced we can update one day but for now it is great.
Had it since new, never given any trouble for over five years. Comfortable, tough and I gave it to my wife a year ago when we had our first child and she will not part with it. It will be in the family till it dies and given its record could be quite a while yet. Can be a bit more rugged in feel than others in this price point but that is part of its charm. You really feel it and get something back from it.
A bit thirsty and the rear door opens in the wrong direction. The indicator stalk etc is on the opposite side to our other car.

The car is fun to go off road in but expensive to run and repair. I don't think I'd ever buy another one.
The space and off roading.
One by one, almost everything has broken on our Jeep and it's quite expensive to repair or replace parts. It is a very heavy car so uses a lot of fuel. I recently found out it only has one anchor point - so unbeleivably wee can only fit one child seat in the back of this big car, which I assume would be sold as a family car. We need to pay to get a second anchor point installed.

Cherokee KK (2008-2013)

This car is a fuel guzzler! It costs double my new Nissan Tiida in fuel per week. It was a really nice car to drive. I felt very safe in this vehicle. The parts were very expensive. Servicing at the jeep dealer was also extremely expensive. Great car to take on the beach, it was alot of fun. Our Jeep had an airbag problem also which we were told would cost around $2000 to fix. Air con problems as well. We sold this car to save money, and we deinately have. Pitty it is so expensive to run. Would not buy another Jeep Cherokee again.
Nice to drive, great turning circle
Too expensive

2002 cherokee, older style than in the other pics

Cherokee KJ (2001-2007)

The dealer told me the timing belt was replaced, i thought good no worries for a while, 28000 km later the wife rings me panicking saying the Jeep is dead on the side on the road. Yep the timing broke, replaced 4 valves, 4 rocker arms, new head gasket and the bolts to hold the head down, in because diesel burns at 67% so 33% of unburnt diesel; is mixed in the soot and blocks up in the intake manifold
Looks nice
Parts quality

Bad

Cherokee KK (2008-2013)

we had the loss of power issue once, it was going into 'get home safe' mode as there was a loose connection on the auto shifter, so the car didn;t 'know' what gear it was in, hence the 'get home safe'. Once conenction was remade, issue has not re appeared.
acceleration, easy to park, easy to get kids in and out. easy to get pram in boot
fuel consumption (what did I expect), clunking of front wheel case (we drive full time 4 everywhere except above 80 km roads), jeep cust service in both albion and the other place is attrocious, would never buy another jeep for that reason alone

as above plus thirsty also driver's seat leather cracked prematurely - can't wait to get rid of it - any offers ?
Wife loves the small turning circle for parking etc
Ours is late 03 model (bought new)pulls violently to the left, "clunky" auto and intermittant (drive train) vibration all not corrected under warranty so am stuck with it - probably would not buy another US built car or recommend it

Love it and would certainly up-date it when it's time, don't like the Grand much too much plastic used.
Looks great and is a tuff truck as well as being a good allround city car, my wife drives it mostly and wouldn't have anything else, can't wait to get it off road and really put it through it's paces
there's nothing all that bad, except maybe fuel useage, i'm currently using 11L per 100km and would like to know if anyone is getting better, i have a K&N filter in and i'm thinking of installing a hiclone unit oh yer it's a 2.8L turbo intercooled diesel 2004 model

Cherokee KK (2008-2013)

The drivers position is high like most 4WD and the seat is very comfortable, hugging you but not too tight. The rear access has a tail gate release on the fob allowing hot air to be removed from the cabin quickly. Servicing and spare parts are very reasonable and certainly not as expensive as other imported cars. The service that I have received from the dealer was great, even replacing parts for free when the car was out of warranty.
great car with heaps of power and very comfortable ride. Great turning circle and very easy to park.
heavy on fuel around town - however, I believe the diesel model is alot better on fuel and gives a longer range between filling
