Great value csr
J87 Expression (2014-2017)Purchased 2nd hand 5 year old Renault Captur can't fault great value car. Had a Renault 13 39 years ago it was great also.
Show detailsCompressor Issue after only 6+ years.
J87 Dynamique (2015-2017)It was a great car but the frustration was on the A/C compressor. After 6 years seems got faulty after the check from service center. Aircon cannot handle above 25 degrees and it produce hot air instead of cool air.
Unfortunately the Captur warranty was only 5 years. I hope Renault will provide longer warranty specifically to the A/C compressor as I have seen a lot on forum the issue on the Captur A/C compressor. Replacing this part is a fortune plus the fitting cost.
If you had other choice and looking for mini SUV, I won't recommend the Captur unless they give a 10 years warranty so at least you maximize theinvestment. I do have other cars (small.medium) and I dont have any issue with A/C compressor and didnt even do a re-gas.

J87 Dynamique (2015-2017)I have a 2022 build Renault Captur, I have had this car for 4 weeks has 1500kms on the clock, the problem with this car when you want to turn the engine off, the engine wont shut down, the only way is to do a force engine shut down, I have spoken to to Renault dealers and you said it they have never heard of this problem even though there are blogs on the net on this problem, So is there any one have a 2022 Captur Rsline model, if so did you get to why and the fix for this problem

Have loved my mums since the day she brought it.
Captur XJB Life (2021-2023)My mum brought a Captur in 2017, and absolutely loves it, and stated that she would only ever buy a Renault after her first one, after having mine for a few days, I tend to agree.
I had been looking at cars around this size for a bit, from Mitsubishi ASX, to Kia Seltos, to Rav4 but just couldn't commit. Mum and I headed out together the other day, and we took her car and loved it and there went the hunt for a Captur for myself, and ended up buying an ex demo for a very good price.
2017 model to 2022
1.2 engine to a 1.3 now
Apparently the body is a smidgen larger
Something in the brakes have been changed so these 'seem' better.
The inside even though I purchased the base model is awesome.
... Read more The electronics for it is second to none, and easy to use. I love that the boot has a false bottom so it can be 2 depths. Fuel economy is exceptional (in my opinion). Driving, it's absolutely lovely to drive. It has more grunt than you expect for such a small engine. And there is more than enough room inside for a family of 4 This car is a get me to work and buzz around town. And another thing, servicing is only required at 30,000km or 1 year. I'm extremely time poor so this is super for me. Fuel is Premium 95 or 98. All in all I'm exceptionally happy with my purchase ☺️ and I think it's great value for the price range.

No disappointments here
CapturI had 2 Volvo C 30's for twelve years (one 9 & other 3) and only changed to get a more modern interior and a fresh car. It uses no oil despite being turbo. My optimistic info screen says I'm getting 6.5L/100 (43mpg). I'm very happy with ride although sharp surfaces sometimes disappoint a little, brakes and the response of the 1.3L engine. Sport mode is another step up. Seven gears operates in either auto or by paddle shift. At rest its can be a little slow in selecting any gear, but otherwise intuitive and perfect. You have to have your foot
... Read more on the brake to change when stationary which could cause some concern if wanting to get out of the way!! I have the Intens top model and so enjoy all the options inc. genuine leather. Five years warranty and fixed price service. You should not buy a car in this price range without at least looking. This is about European car difference. Totally happy. Just an update (late March 22) ...........After petrol price rises, I'm really appreciating the fuel economy which is ok around my suburb but I must mention the fuel sipping economy that is so good, I'm doubting the (widget) gauge though giving its reading .........although the fuel gauge drops at a glacial pace, especially when on longer roads like the M2. The widget (L/100 and other stuff) seems unreliable and so I tested it over the last several weeks and the car <tank to tank> used 41 litres for over 500 kms using 98 fuel. This is 7.6L/100 or 37 mpg. The tank is 45 Litres. This was freeways and very short local runs about 50/50. I use 98 but also runs well on 95 Ron and the sport mode gives real extra push from the normal (My sense) setting. I mostly use 98 Ron, however, it is more like the fuel on offer in Europe. Moving off with 98 fuel behaves as you'd expect but with 97 grade slightly risks a downchange and higher revs than you'd like.Great versatile little car
J87 Expression (2014-2017)Have had the car for a little over a month as a used car. It has been a great little car, perfectly suited for city driving. The good things are excellent fuel economy, decent looking interior, simple infotainment system and a great boot space for a young family. Few not so good points noted are the quality of the interior door trim where you keep your hand to push/pull the door. The gear knob chrome at the bottom is exposed and sharp. The steering wheel bottom spoke is sharp on the edges.

J87 Dynamique (2015-2017)Does any other Captur owners have issues with their aircon? My car struggles to provide cool air when the ambient is above 28 so here in Brisbane, that is most of the time in summer.
Renault dealer says there is nothing wrong. Going back next week and will do a screamer if they again tell me there is nothing wrong. In traffic, it stops blowing cold air. Stop at the traffic lights? Stops blowing cold air. Would be interested to hear from other Captur owners. Thanks,
Best car I have ever lwned
J87 Expression (2014-2017)I have had my Renault for 3 years. It is very comfortable to drive. You feel like hour stepping up into it. The only issue I have with it is the section around the windscreen are a little too wide, making it a little hard to see pedestrians.

Perfect combination of small but roomy.
J87 Dynamique (2015-2017)I recently bought a Demo Renault Captur Dynamique 2016. It is a Chic looking SUV that you can't miss in the car park, with a black roof and buttery cream body. The black leather seats are so comfortable and while I am short I still appreciate the extra length of the seat under the legs. The heated seat is brilliant for a bad back. Visibility is good with no blind spots. The media screen seems a little low, as I do feel like I am looking down at the GPS Navigation. Reversing camera is appreciated as are the auto wipers and headlights. The cruise
... Read more control is extremely easy to use. The boot doesn't look roomy, but there is a secret compartment underneath, and the rear seats are easy for a small female to collapse down and return. It has taken me a couple of weeks to get used to the quirks of the take off. There is a slight hesitation, due to the dual clutch auto gear box, which you need to be aware of. Once the car is up and going the acceleration on the highway is great. I have the 1.2 Lt turbo and it is very responsive. Compared to my other SUV the ride is very quiet and smooth on the highway, but it is noticeably bumpy over speed bumps. As yet I am not sure how reliable the Renault will be, the only thing to go wrong was the heat seat button jammed. The fuel consumption is excellent. I love the car, it is not the usual looking SUV, yes it has some quirky features to get used to, but I am happy with my purchase.Find out how Renault Captur compares to other Midsize / Medium SUVs

Update model (MY 2018) fantastic
J87 Intens (2017-2023)The Update model (MY2018) has everything you could need on a car. It's fully optioned. It drives well, ahndles well, and is comfortable. Note that the automatic transmission isnt a normal one. It is actually a DSG gearbox, or a manual gearbox that the computer shifts gears. The dual clutch menas that it drives just a manual, giving it great fuel economy. On a hill you will roll back, but there is hill start assist. My wife finds this a bit annoying but I have no issues. Overall its amazing that you can get a car with so many features for the price. A classy car.

J87 Expression+ (2015)We had our renault for under two months before all the troubles started. Although we managed to get them repaired with renault it was such a hassle getting them done. We wouldn't recommend buying from Barry Bourke Renault as the service was terrible in the end when it came to requesting repairs.
The Bluetooth connectivity is the worst on the market, even the salesman admitted that and you'd think in this ay and age they'd fix that before selling the vehicle.
If we could we probably would have gone with a different car if we knew all the problems we were going to have.
Other than that its a nice car to look at and the seat warmers are nice in winter
Love the driving experience !!
J87 Expression (2014-2017)We have had our Renault Captur for 3 months and find it so easy to drive. Its fully loaded with all the features of the top end car.The seats are also very comfortable. It has a decent size boot space and we have shipped so much furniture folding the rear seats. I can say we got almost all our boxes ticked with this car.

Renault Captur 2017
J87 Expression (2014-2017)We have had our Renault Captur for 3 months and find it so easy to drive. It is an excellent vehicle for empty nesters like us or a young person too. It is very smooth and quiet to drive and we have to be careful not to speed.
The seats are also very comfortable. Only negative is the lack of storage space and only 1 full size drink holder in the front.
Captured
J87 Expression (2014-2017)Easy to use interfaces Sat Nav, radio etc Simplicity, nice to drive, getting 6.8l per 100kms, handles fine, the inclusions were good, expression model.
Bluetooth works fine with my iPhone, I noticed reviews to the contrary,
Renault has got it right even with the shape!(Mazda designer)
I would recommend as a small car to anyone, only negative is not e10 compatible
It grows on you and you will never loose it in a car park full of white hatch backs
J87 Expression (2014-2017)Well the answer for those who have been waiting from my last product review (Renault Megane CDi 2013) is….sort of.
I am the proud owner of a 2015 Renault Captur, top of the range and yes its better than the Megane. Read Jeremy Clarkson’s review about the Captur and just knew that if he was so ambivalent about it, it must be really worth a look. That’s on the basis that any man who loses his job and millions of pounds over the provision of a cold supper rather than a steak dinner must have seriously floored judgement.
I was right about Mr
... Read more Clarkson. Why did I buy it, cheap easy Renault finance, good looks, frugal, roomy for a little one, comes in a range of 1950’s color combinations, washable seat covers, lots of speck that seems to work easily. Fixed priced servicing. Better than the Megane by far. Still five-year warranty but so far unlike the Megane I have not had to continually rely upon warrant fights with Renault Australia and dealership running wing man for same, to keep it road worthy. According to Mr Google search engine the only fault they all seem to have, and mine does as well, is the jumping noisy windscreen wipers when wet each and every time they move. I shall see how the much lauded 5-year warranty goes with this one on its first service. Will let you know!Questions & Answers
Hi all.
Thinking of buying a Renault captur 2017.
Just wondering what they are like ? Good or bad ? And weather the parts are expensive or not ? Just general information and thoughts would be amazing.
Thankyou.
Hi Mellissa. I bought mine at the end of 2015. Just had its 5 year service today. Apart from an aircon problem where they had to replace the compressor (under warranty), the car has been faultless. Great fuel economy. Back in January I drove from the central coast just north of Sydney, to Brisbane, on one tank of petrol. I had a Toyota Aurion prior to and I can get more load space in my Captur than I could in the Aurion
Thankyou... what does a service cost ? And what are the parts like.. easy to get hold of? Cheap or expensive? How many kilometres are on your car ?
Hi .. I'll go with positives first. Good peppy little car. Looks stylish, Day time running lights and automatic at that. Negatives: Poor quality plastics: Eg: When you open the door, Gear knob silver piece. You got to drive in non Eco mode to have any kinda acceleration. At night, no illumination on the dashboard or Steering stalks can get annoying. Lack of storage spots inside the car .. overall okay car.
I've had my capture since 2016. I have had no problems with it. The servicing has been reasonably priced and I have had no issues with the air con or any other parts..
Hi everyone
We are thinking of buying a used 2015 Renault Captur but we’re just wondering what it was like on parts if we needed parts at any stage? Are the parts for the vehicle cheap? And is it easy enough to get parts in Western Australia?
Thanks
Rachel
Hi Rachel. My CAptur is still under warranty but they had to replace the air con compressor and it was available ex stock
Hi Rachel, most common parts would be readily available if needed. Parts that are rare to be replaced will have to come from France. Normally it's a 2 week time period for a critical part. You can always look to source parts from other capturs that have been written off etc but their sample size in Aus/WA would be lesser than let’s say a common car like a Corolla
The auto has no power for taking off around roundabouts
How do people do to overcome this problem
Hi Helen, its something you have to factor in to your driving. No engineered solution. I understand where you are coming from, you put your foot on the accelerator and there is no response immediately. I have been driving the Renault Captur now for 4 years and you just have to compensate for the lack of immediate power
Thank you for you answer
I will be getting rid of it before I get killed at a roundabout
Differently dangerous
This was the problem when I first purchased my Renault. Many modern vehicles have the start stop function to save on emissions and fuel. You can deactivate this function if you wish; check on YouTube. I have found releasing my foot off the break pedal and slightly depressing the Excelerator brings the engine back on and I have had no problem since. Good luck. I love my Renault! Ring your dealer and I’m sure they would also help you.
