Devastated. My 2011 MK Turbo Diesel was in a flood and completely covered over the roof by the water. I am trying to get it out of the paddock. How can I get it out of Park, in order to tow as obviously all the electrics are not working?

Have no idea Drew. Suggest you contact Jeep themselves. Good luck.

I have a 2011 grand cherokee diesel and have just brought a caravan which has a gross weight of 2.5 tonnes. Do I need to do anything regarding transmission cooling ?

Hi Mal. We didn't have a cooling problem. Mind you, have heard from other GC owners even without towing, that this problem has arisen. The only dangerous problem we had was that the Overland had quad air suspension which didn't turn out to be very helpful for towing. The GC recalls and problems are so erratic that it's hard to advise anyone. What one person's problem with the Jeep is may not be another's. All depends on which model you have as well. Haven't heard of towing issues with the Limited or the Laredo ... only the Overland. The other two have coil suspension so not affected. Wish you all the best and hope your Jeep does as it was intended to.

Our model is 2010, but we also have a 2.5t caravan and have had no problems towing in any regard. Happy holidays.

Needing a diesel 4wd for our farm (upgrading from our 2010 kluger) it will be used for a lot of country driving and rough roads.do you think the grand Cherokee limited would be up to the task? We also tow camper trailer with it and need a dependable good vehicle.

As a Jeep owner I would recommend that you rather look for a Landcruiser or Patrol. The Grand Cherokee is more suited to a different application. If you really want a Jeep rather look at a Wrangler.

Of course the 2014 jeep grand cherokee will do the job. Been on some rough country with one and towed a large van for more than 20000 ks . After having patrols for 18 years I have no hesitation to recommend the diesel grand cherokee 60,000 ks on it so far

2014 Laredo- Rear Window IMPLODED! First family car Laredo 4x2 Mayated thru hubby's work.10mths never had prob daily checks before/after getting in/out serviced & cared. The other day I was reversing into a car space when I heard a frighting loud POP like a gunshot. Put in P to check it out & look to rear safety cam nothing except distance to bollard. I open the door to hear LOUD glass SHATTERING to the rear window. Looking closer & see no physical vehicle mark/body impact. Taking pics (visual)everywhere&made to feel like made it up by our dealership telling us ‘There’s no reported incident of this ever happening, likely had a tiny screen chip to caused this'. Even showing pics where it’s clearly evident the window puffed out(imploding) lifting from corners. Since this is our ONLY transport we urgently need it fixed for wrk. We've had to claim insurance for ASAP repair.Should it be covered by warranty should we pursue the issue further? Advice/suggestions ASAP will be great.

Sounds like a faulty (flawed) rear windscreen to me. If I was Jeep I'd replace it and put a claim into glass manufacturer.

I went to our local dealership and they just fobbed us off saying that it could have been a small chip to the glass that did this, as I type O'Briens are installing a new one (through our insurance) but don't know where to go from here and would this new replacement now affect our warranty?

Unfortunately for you this will be hard to prove.I have at times phoned Chrysler (Jeep) in Melbourne and found them quite good to deal with. You could try them to discuss this matter.Good luck ( I think your going to need it)...cheers

Just made an enquiry re cost for a 20,000klm service on our 2014 Grand Cherokee Jeep diesel and was quoted $550. According to the manual, the service would take 1.5 hrs and from a Jeep owner, the estimated cost of oil and filters would not exceed $225---very expensive labour rate

Any thoughts or recommendations?

Hi! We are contemplating buying a new Grand Cherokee Limited Diesel, the question is it better to tow a 21ft 2.5 ton van with full factory Jeep air suspension or standard coils? As the air suspension drops in height over 80kph does this affect the Hayman Reese level rider settings and stability? Just wondering if anyone has had experience with this system? Thanks in advanceTrevor.

Hi Trev. I have a overland. We have towed our van with ease. I set up the level riders at the lowest setting. you can adjust the height in the cab to this setting. The height will vary but if you set it up to be level at the cruise height it seemed good. Our vans ball weight isn't that heavy and I stopped using the levelers as the jeep stays fairly level any way. I hopes this helps.

Hi Peter. I think that is the way we will go. Thank you for your reply.

I tow a 19.5ft boat fitted with a 270hp V8 and it does an excellent job. Very sturdy and the fuel economy is quite good on the highway.

I have no experience with the petrol motors, sorry.I know that the 3.0l diesel would probably be fine (not knowing the weight of your van),but any comment about the petrol motors from me, may be misleading.

The 4x4 V6 Grand Cherokee can tow 2949kg.

I have a 2014 JGC Laredo diesel and want to take it on some long off-road trips. While I have metric spanners, I want to get all necessary socket, ring and open spanners for the Jeep. When I asked the local Jeep dealership, they told me it was propriety information and they couldn't (wouldn't) help me. I assume that the nuts etc are all imperial on the Jeep, coming from USA.
Can anyone help me either with a necessary list or required tools, or point me in the right direction to get that information, please?

Hi Kakadaz, I was thinking about buying a Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT but am worried about the reviews they get. Have you had any problems yet? I have an Audi Q7 now, never again: it's a money pit after the warranty expired.
Thanks, worried ;)

Hi There, look some Jeeps get average reviews but not so much the SRT...I sold mine unfortunately this week but the 17,000ks I did from new in mine were faultless and trouble free. I look at it this way
Body: Is a ML Mercedes body (not jeep)
Motor: Hemi (not jeep)
Gearbox: German 8 speed box (not jeep)
Suspension: Bilstein (not jeep)
Brakes: Brembo (not jeep)

they are all renowned specialist companies...I thought I would drive mine for the warranty duration and IF it had issues its Jeeps problem then after the three years I would weigh up wether its worth owning out of warranty OR see if I could purchase another 2 years factory warranty...
All in All after owning alot of cars in my time the SRT was by far the BEST car I have owned.....I have also over the years owned 2 x JK Cherokees and neither of those had a warranty claim on them..
