Chappyasked
HI. Just wondering whether the Hot Tap is weather proof. i.e can I leave it on the back of the trailer when it's raining etc?
1 answer
JoolcaJoolca
Hey Chappy,
Thanks for the question. The HOTTAP isn't weather proof, so leaving it on the back wouldn't be a good idea. You should take it down and pack it away when you're done using it. Happy to clarify in more detail, just give us a bell on 1300 669 500.
Thank you

Hi Chris
Thanks for the prompt reply. I received an email from Cameron one of your very helpful team members. He suggested I try a few things and send him a short video. Problem still there and he said send it back at their expense and well fix it or replace it even though its outside warranty.
Wow 5 stars for customer service.
What a great company to stand behind their products and made customer service their priority.
One very happy customer........
Many thanks

Hi, I purchased a unit last week after my companion cube finally failed. I already had an inline pump capable of 4.7lpm. I am finding the unit intermittently stops heating. Could this be because the pump isn't delivering enough volume to keep it ignited?

Jerkaasked
Hi Guys! I've owned a Joolca HWS for several years now & found it faultless on many camping trips, however, this Christmas holidays the igniter won't fire when I turn it on. I've checked the batteries & replaced them & have measured the voltage from the battery supply to the plug on the wiring harness inside & all is good up to where it enters the electronics. Do you have any suggestions, or are you able to service & repair at all? More than happy to pay for any repairs if need as I appreciate the unit is out of warranty.

Can I use town gas supply instead of a cylinder?
2 answers
No you can't as the burner and injectors are for propane and not natural gas
JoolcaJoolca
Hi Ted,
Just like Brenden mentioned, you won't be able to use the HOTTAP on town gas as that's natural gas which isn't the same thing. Good on you for asking ahead of time :)
Thanks!

Lesmondoasked
Does the Joolca need to be connected to the gas via a regulator?
2 answers
JoolcaJoolca
Hi Lesmondo,
Yes it does. The HOTTAP comes with the gas hose and regulator so you don't have to worry about any of that :)
Chris
Yes it does and as stated mine is connected to the one supplied.

What do campers hang their hot water service on ?
2 answers
I purchased a Camper Clothesline and I attach the Hoptap to this, makes it portable so i can setup my shower where I want it.
Just remove the clothes line part and use the existing top post to attach it to. Drill 2 holes for the Hottap to mount to on the post.
JoolcaJoolca
Hi Janine,
You can do what Prinway suggested or use the carry handle of the HOTTAP to hang it anywhere suitable - like on a branch, etc.
We're working on an updated HOTTAP that will include an easy fix for this as we realise the carry handle isn't always suitable in every situation, but for now the above is your best bet.
Kind Regards,
Chris

Nathanasked
Hi, what does the little brass knob on the bottom of the hottap do? It can turn about a quarter turn. Is it a tap or adjustment for something?
Cheers
1 answer
JoolcaJoolca
Hi Nathan,
That's a pressure release valve to help prevent frost damage but the best way to do prevent frost damage is to leave that brass knob as it is, and just make sure you unplug the hoses when the unit is not in use (in cold climates). If water is inside the unit and the temperature gets cold, it can freeze inside the unit and as the water expands inside it can crack the internals.
Hope this makes sense.
Kind Regards,
Chris
Peteasked
Could the hot tap run from gravity pressure fed rainwater tank, or must it have pump pressure?
1 answer
JoolcaJoolca
Hi Pete,
The HOTTAP can be run off gravity fed but you really need to make sure you have enough pressure at all times. We recommend a minimum of at least 10 metres of head and even then that may not be enough, depending on your setup and frictional losses in your system. The most reliable way is definitely to have a pump supplying pressure to the HOTTAP.
Hope this helps! If not, reach back out to us on 1300 669 500 and we'll be happy to help more!
