Have a Kia Sportage GT line 2L Diesel beautiful car but has a problem in heavy traffic, slow driving situations with sensor alerts triggering effecting the driving of the car. Have to pull over (if possible), turn the car off for awhile then restart it. Have taken pics of the dash & taken it to the kia service near me but they can't find the problem. Been doing this for 2 years. Disappointed to say the least.

How do I get the NAV system to beep when I exceed the speed limit? I see the Speed sign on the display flash red when I go from a 100kph to 80kph zone, or when my speed creeps over the 50kph in town, but no audible warning. Sportage MY19 GT model. Thanks in advance.

Have KIA Australia solved the mapping problem with the 2ltr diesel which they knowingly sold me with this problem
9 answers
Not sure what mapping issue you are referring too, can u advise.
from cold start between 70&80 kph a series of jerks and vehicle labouring in gear coming up to say a roundabout once vehicle reaches operating temp problem gone apart from a frightening couple of thuds at a 110kph on one trip
I have a similar issue with my 2016 sportage diesel. Kia has initiated 3 sotftware updates so far which are supposed to have fixed the problem. They have certainly improved the issue, but it’s sill there at low speeds, around 50kph. Doesn’t do it all the time and Kia say they can’t do anything until they see the problem and get some data downloaded while it’s happening. Problem is it is intermittent so difficult to get it to do it while they have their computer connected. Very frustrating given that I have had this problem for 2 years now and still not fixed. They won’t even try until they get data. Very disappointing!

I am thinking of buying a 2018 kia sportage. Has anyone had issues with this car please?
3 answers
None, just do it. Comfortable, excellent road manners. Hint, set the engine power at normal. And use unleaded 95, as recommended.
I've had mine 2 years, diesel, hasn't missed a beat. Comfy, great height and vision, good acceleration and fuel economy. Couldn't be happier, except it would be great if the servo's dropped the price of fuel a bit, but with great economy it balances out.
If you want an audible speed alert, it hasn't got one. I just traded up from the Cerato to the Sportage and this car doesn't have an audible speed alert, which is very disappointing. The Cerato had one.

Anyone else having issues with Kia NOT updating maps when at sale point they tell you it gets freely updated for five years? The product is out of date at purchase and now they want to charge me.
1 answer
I managed (I hope - should be done tomorrow) to get one update (presumably to the new software) by complaining to service and they got sales to pay for the one update. But I think there are no more to come - will ask tomorrow.
I specifically checked when I purchased as a mate was being charged lots of money for updates on a Mazda - of course I did not get it in writing. Apart from being old the navigation is very poor - in my local area often sends me via the longest route rather than the shortest.

Hi All
As a new 2018 Sportage GT-Line owner, I am getting my head around all the new functionality.
What has been annoying me is the setup for the warning alerts when approaching speed camera, red light camera etc. The alerts seem to be given based on distance from the camera, rather than a set number of tones. What this means is that, if you are approaching a red-light camera, and the traffic is moving slowly, or even stopped, the alert keeps going, and going, and going, until you pass the camera.
Now I know I can turn the aural alert off, but this kinda defeats the purpose of the alert in the first place. The other car in our family (CX-5) is better in that it gives 3 sequential chimes, then stops.
Anyone else found this problem with the Spirtage, and if so, what have you done to fix it?
TIA

No sorry can’t asdist as I’ve had no problems
I've tried every setting I can think of to get rid of that annoying chime which starts some 850m from the actual speed alert.
I have everything set to visual only but driving in the country it will keep giving me speed check alerts when the speed limit is about to change from 110 to 80 or similar.
Drives me bonkers. The only thing I have found to silence it is to actually touch the alert on the screen - that will stop it.

Hi, I have a 2017 GT line love it, but two things annoy me. One can't just turn ON the passenger side AC and keeping the driver AC switched OFF(dont know if that's even possible) and second is, I want only the time to be displayed on the Nav screen when I am not using the maps. Can someone please tell me how to go about it. Too embarrassed to call the dealer for something this trivial.
Thanks.

hey, I have just purchased a 2017 kia sportage gt line. Must say it is a great car to drive with lots of features..... BUT!... I think has the worst audio head unit Ive ever experienced? Very poor Fm radio reception & sound quality!!. I did take it back to dealer but they said it was fine? (don't believe they really tested it). Just wondering if anyone out there can help with this or help me with finding an after market head unit replacement that will work??. I've been looking online & there appears to be some out there but I'm worried that they won't work properly because everything is linked?..
please help?.. peter

Peter, you might have to contact the dealer and they should be able to re-boot this. We have a 7 year warranty right so hopefully there should not be any issues rectifying this with them. So far so good for my 2016. I do however use my phone for music via Bluetooth so try this and see if it's any different.
How is other content? if it's only FM reception i wonder if the aerial is not connected properly (think its the sharkfin on the roof but all the same would require connection). worth checking if your phone streams perfectly then likely aerial.

Hi everyone. I have had my Kia GT 2017 diesel for 3 months now. I love the Kia Sportage this being my second Sportage purchase. However I have noticed that the speaker volume through the audio is terribly low compared to the previous model. When using Apple car play or Bluetooth I can turn the volume up to maximum and the sound is low and dull. Whereas the radio is very loud. It feels like there is a different volume level or car play and Bluetooth compared to the radio. Does anyone know what the problem is or have experienced it themselves?
4 answers
Ensure your mobile phone media volume is turned up to the highest setting. Some mobiles have the sound setting set at about 1/2 volume to protect your ears from damage when using headphones or earpieces.
Thanks. I have ensured already that the volume on the iPhone is turned up full. The issue is as soon as I link to Bluetooth or car play the volume is half as loud as the radio. I think it might be a software problem in the car but seeking if others have the same issue.
hey,, I just got a gt line sportage 2 weeks ago & I to love this car but I have to say it has the shitest head unit I ever experienced.. Fm reception is poor & sound quality is ordinary at best and unfortunately no DAB??. Using Bluetooth or usb stick is better but for a top of the line model I would have expected something much better. It is doing my head in. I have taken it back to service but they just said it was fine???,i Don't believe they even took it for a drive to see how it sounded.. I am currently looking for options to replace the head unit but it is proving difficult.. To answer your question,,, it is simply a crap head unit with poor user functions..regards Peter

How do you get the radio to start at a sensible/low volume? (have tried the default settings...)
1 answer
There are some issues with the radio. I find that the volume for the radio is different to the phone and the ipod and I am continually having to adjust. Don't have an answer yet but will take a look tonight and report back.

Have 6 month old Kia Sportage QL diesel. Drives well but evert now and then at around 80kmph it starts to miss and loose power. Dealer had for a week and didn't fault so they found no issue. Bur it still faults at random at 80 kmph. Any idea what it might be.
3 answers
Sorry, no. My car is only 2 months old and has done so far only 1800 km. Just hope I do not get the same issue.
Be careful where you buy your diesel, as you should youse a service station that has a high turnover. This so that no diesel is sold that has been standing in the service stations tank for a while. Because modern common rail diesel car are highly sensitive to the smallest dirt particles in the diesel.
the only thing I can suggest is google problems with your model, you can google your specific problem or just general problems with your year and model, you might be surprised what you come up with, another thing you can do is ring Kia head office and ask to speak to a tech man, explain that your dealer can't locate your could be very dangerous problem. Hope this helps a bit regards Rob.
Give it a good hard run, one hour plus over 80 kph. If you only do short distances and drive at low speed your particle filter may be blocking. These cars need to for 45 minutes minimum at over 80kph to burn the deposits in the filter. Hope this helps.
