The environment it is in dictates the performance.
This is a mighty little portable air con and for the price and size you can not go wrong. To add, Kogan also allows you to purchase a 5 year warranty also. So this just shows the quality of it is fantastic. However, the environment and set up is what matters most.
A small bedroom it works fine, adding as a second unit in a bigger room, also fine. But alone, the system will make very little difference. For the price I really recommend!

Good enough for renting
Easy to set up and works great in the hot summer days. Electrical tape was essential to get a seal when installing the exhaust pipe to the window, however it doesn't damage the rental property and you can easily pack it away when not using it. It very rarely needs to be emptied as it reuses the water for cooling. The heat setting seems to need more drainage so we haven't used that much. It's great at dehumidifying the air, and works on a reasonlly big area but keep all the blinds and windows shut and seal off any drafts for best results.

Ok...I guess
The unit seems to be very directional, works when you sit right infront of it. Very Noisey, and the "swing" feature is creaky. Not made particularly well. You wouldnt want to use it as a heater, its too noisey, Aircon....yea ok...if its really hot, it does help. Good de humidifier ( dry ) ooption.
Not the best...but kinda cheap.
February 11th 2018 Update: Ok I guess
Noisy operation, also "swing" ( up and down feature ) is creaky. Does do the job, if given enough time in small room. For its price, its a good reason to avoid 30 deg plus temperatures, and really good de humid feature.
Build quality isn't the greatest either.
I have the 1400 model..wouldn't want one any less powerful. Dont use for heating, hungry on power

It does the job!
I got this for my grandparents and I must say it is a very good unit. However, it's biggest let down is the way the air vent is made. It only has a air flow that goes up and down, instead of left and right (as in the swing function). Even though it is still okay, it does not allow for equal distribution of air flow around the room. This forces you to also have a fan running to make the air circulate a bit better in the room.
Despite this, it may work for some, depending how big the room is, and I think it works better in a smaller bedroom then a living area, despite what it advertises. The unit is definitely slim, and that makes it much more better to toher larger ones.

User manual is so confusing and window kit is not 130cm as said
Just received the unit today, I was so confused with the user manual about the water drainage, there is 3 drain hole, and I'm experiencing the same issue with Naresh.
User manual didn't tell you clearly how to connect, I don't know which drain hole I need to attach. It says this mode you attach upper drain hole, another mode you attach the lower drain hole?! but I don't even have lower drain plug?!
Then for the bottom drain hole need to drain the water separately? Why is that? I'm expecting all the water will be drained from one hole.

Freight Train
Bought in October so prepared for the summer. Set it up last night & this morning. Test ran it....low noise is a misrepresentation in the sale spiel. It is so loud there is no way you could sleep with it on. To be honest you can't even sit in the room and do anything with the amount of noise it is generating. Mine also has a bad fan rattle going on in the back. And this is all on the first time run. So much for having a comfortable nights sleep... thought perhaps I could run it for a couple of hours before bedtime and cool the room, turn it of and stick with the ceiling fan. Room was cool but as soon as the unit turned off, just warms up again. Not sure what I'm supposed to do with it now...

Service of Kogan is worst
The unit is good as it does its job with bit noise. But the service of Kogan sucks. The unit was discharged after 10days of confirmation and the team took five days to track the consignment. Also the exhaust hose pipe adapters supplied with the unit are different from the unit and they doesn't fit. I have bought the unit keeping hot summer in view and looks like I will get the unit ready after the hot weather.
The instruction manual supplied needs to be more clear to help customers understand the process. The manual shows adapter A & B but i...Read more

Money well spent
"Very happy with the Kogan unit" I don't understand why everyone else is whingeing, I have it set up in a small room yeah makes a bit of noise but I can quite easily watch a movie or listen to music. The only downside would be if something did happen to it, it has to be shipped back to the factory. not sure if it's worth getting extended warranty I did just in case and it was a good deal but yeah it would be annoying to put back in the box and all that jazz.

An Air Con That Isn't An Air Con
Very bulky and heavy to move around, even with the wheels.
The exhaust pipe is big and the window kit isn't tall enough for the window height so the sliding window is always allowing the air from outside to get in. The window kit does not fit securely into the window and can easily fall out.
I use a standard bucket to capture the water waste. It can fill up very quickly. On many occasions it has overflowed onto the carpet.
It's supposed to shut down when it reaches a set temperature but it doesn't do this. It continually stays on until you ...Read more

Cooling and White Noise All In One
We bought this to replace an ageing Clausen which had lasted for about ten years (it was still going but not really keeping up).
The Kogan has worked well for us so far even though the set up isn’t easy due to our old style windows which make it hard to mount. That is no fault of the unit, however.
Despite all of this, it works great in our room so we can sleep well without having to suffer through uncivilised temperatures.
The old unit wasn’t self-evaporative which was a bit of a pain. The Kogan is self-evaporative and we rarely have ...Read more
to empty it (except for very humid days) and have never had to plug the hose in and drain the water elsewhere. The unit is on most of the time throughout summer to accommodate for the fact that our house is rarely ‘room temperature’. Is it 26 or above? It’s on. In recent weeks it’s chugged on for over 24 hours and hasn’t missed a beat.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Needed in Queensland
Great for bedroom, takes humidity away. Quite at night, easy to move around, easy to operate, remote great idea no need to get up to change mode. Can be used as fan only when you just need to move the air around. Easy to install as I am an older person.

Not worth the money
Used it for the 1st time in 35 degree heat, very disappointed. The room temperature was 26 would prefer it to be much cooler. I found it to be way too noisy. Mainly bought for 40 degree heat, will be looking for another one now. This unit is not worth the money :(

Absolutely terrible product, even worse customer service from Kogan.
Don't waste your time with this product, or brand. This is the worst portable air conditioner I've ever had the displeasure of owning. Our dealings with Kogan have also been frustratingly slow and we've had to push back, repeat info and hassle for updates regularly.
I also own a Convair reverse cycle air con and it has never missed a beat - definitely recommend this brand over Kogan.
I purchased the Kogan product in November 2015 and it struggled to cool a small living area. After less than an hour's use the full alarm would sound and we'...Read more
d have to empty the reservoir. Terrible and annoying, but we struggled through. Next I noticed that the unit was leaking on the floor, so read the handbook and saw that I could attach a pipe and drain the water into a bucket. I did this, and the full alarm stopped sounding, but the unit continued to leak on the floor. I contacted Kogan as it was still under warranty and they advised that I could send it in for repair, but also strongly advised that if the unit wasn't found to be faulty, or the fault was not a manufacturers fault I would be liable for costs. They would not give me any more advice on whether this sort of problem would be my fault and not theirs, just told me to send it in and kept repeating the same liability statement.1 comment

does the job
As with a lot of Kogan products you get what you pay for. There are better air conditioners on the market at the same price. quite heavy to move and doesn't blow enough cool air unless you are right in front of it. I would not recommend this product to buy

Doesn’t work
Noisey and I need to be right in front of it to cool. My dehumidifier doesn’t work at all. No water comes out. My room remains a sauna.
Looking at getting a better one. Maybe my one is faulty.
The window installation products were terrible. I bought the kit with the tape and it didn’t stay on at all. Overall has been disappointing and frustrating.

Looks good so far
Kogan's 12,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner so far seems good. I haven't been able to test it on a very hot day yet, but it set up fine in my rental with the included window kit. It's somewhat loud, but in a white noise kind of way which isn't too much of a bother.

Works well for the price
It is a bit noisy when operating but does work quite well
We used it on a 46 degree day and while it struggled a little it made a worthwhile difference
The heat cycle also worked well in winter.
The exhaust hose is far too short which limits where you can position the unit
This unit has a definite price advantage over most other brands which compensated for its minor shortcomings .
Would definitely recommend.

Good machine.Great option for a room, or renters.
We bought this unit as an alternative to having an expensive reverse cycle air conditioner installed. It was a great way to test the water, as it were. And it is extremely economical, reducing our electricity bill substantially. Its very portable, and just plug it in and off it goes. Also, because the unit is in the room, it is a bit loud, but nothing too dramatic. We use it in the lounge room, and living in Tasmania, it really cops a hiding, on heat cycle, during winter. And it has stood up to the long usage times. Fantastic I would think if you are a renter, as you can take the unit with you. Well worth buying.

A very good buy
A very good product. Goes exactly with the description given before buying. It is very easy to move. Cools the room very quickly. Sometimes it seems to make more noise when it is slow, however, it does not disturb while sleeping. It is overall a very good buy & it also looks nice!!

Good unit but exhaust hose doesn't last
While I really, really love this product, I am disappointed with the quality of the exhaust hose which came with the unit.
I bought the unit in summer 2015 and by last summer (2016) the exhaust hose had started to develop splits. It's not easy to source an appropriate replacement, either. By contrast, a Daijitsu portable air conditioner also purchased from Kogan a couple of years earlier is still going strong with the original exhaust hose - which would seem to indicate it's an issue with the Kogan product rather than consumer use.
