I have replaced pto switch, seat switch. I did this because it wouldn’t even click when I turned the key. I jumped the pto with a wire and it fired right up and ran the whole time I cut. Next time nothing again so with the jumper wire still on pto switch I put a jumper on seat ran great yet again. Today after replacing both switches it fired up and as soon as I engaged the pto it died and won’t even crank. What’s going on with this mower. It’s a ZG124E. Briggs and Stratton engine

G'day Boomer.
Electrics can be a pain, especially an intermittent fault. You appear to be fairly Savvy & nearly on top of things. Problem could be anything from the Ignition, PTO, Park Brake, to the Motion Control Switches, or simply a loose connection or fuse, even a poor battery terminal connection. (some may only require a slight adjustment). Any one will affect Start/Run/Cut. Your dealer or Mr Google will have a wiring diagram. Switches do not like moisture.
Best to get a cheap multimeter & follow the "Lockout Switch Trail" in your Operators manual, to save yourself replacing expensive switches.
I have solved similar problems by CAREFULLY running a hot wire from the battery to temporarily bypass one switch at a time, starting at the Starter Solenoid, with the mower on blocks & working my way back to the battery.
Chances are that as the problem is still there, your PTO & seat switch might have been working O.K. These can be tested with a multimeter or a small load, eg, a 12 volt lamp.
A small lamp bridging an installed faulty switch should light up as power should be available up-steam & load down-stream.
I am still getting used to having everything in the right position at the right time. My old mowers had no Lockouts or just a single Deck switch.
Hope this helps. Cheers. Trev.

The drive belt can jump of the clutch assy under mower near rear wheels and can sit above the clutch assy which needs a close look as it looks as if it is on the pulley if this is the case get a small bar and lever the belt tension arm towards the left hand rear wheel which will give you a chance to put the belt back on the pulley (be careful as it is spring loaded) this happened to me when I ran over a tree branch if not it may be the wires to the drive clutch pulled off. Hope this helps
