Overpriced flawed TV

I bought two of these and have been very disappointed with the picture quality - mostly issues with brightness, blooming and contrast. I have other TV's bought at a lower price and they perform much better than this TV.

Bad screen

published

Purchased brand new TV on 1st of August 2021 from BuySmarte and straight after discovered grey stripes on white or green background. Very annoying especially when watching ice hockey. Annoying on any content even 4k movies when camera is moving on bright colours. Noticed also white bleed on corners through different content from Netflix for example.
My 400$ JVC never had any issues like that at all. So disappointed with LG and the way how they are not resolving the issue.
LG Technician took it away a week ago and he hasn't resolved this issue, he sent me the same pictures back. I am shocked. Please do not buy this tv, or you might be as frustrated as I am right now.

Terrible Dirty screen

published

The Nano91 that I got recently is suffering from terrible vertical banding in screen when camera is moving on bright colours. It is unwatchable during live sport.LG sent a Technician to check it  and said this is a normal issue in this kind of TV and cannot be fixed. I am now  trying to return the TV.

Purchased in at The Good Guys for $2,425.

Very good large screen tv

published

I like the remote control pointer. There are sufficient ports for plugging in other additions. The bluetooth and wifi are great to have.
I have a little difficulty navigating around the screens and apps, may have to run through the user guide again.

Enjoying every moment (Now)

published

As per another user, I bought Nano 86 and was quite unhappy with it because the backlights started to bleed on the screen on first day. It was worse at night when watching movies in HDR.
I upgraded to Nano 91 and now, could not be happier. The picture quality is amazing and HDR movies are grand. I have hooked up my PS4 to the TV and the games look even better than before.
Highly recommend this TV.
p.s. Not noted anywhere before but there is a Foxtel app in this TV now. So if you have Foxtel Go, you can watch it without the foxtel box. BIG plus.

Fantastic Picture

published

I upgraded from an LG4K UDH LCD TV to the new Nano Line, and I'm glad I did. The blacks are crisper, the picture and screen options seem to change automatically depending on what I'm watching to make it look better. Overall the picture quality is beautiful. In a room without light the blacks are blacker with very little light blooms which barely noticeable compared to the previous model. To top it off it has a beautiful gun metal finish with a very thin frame.

was initially apprhensive being an ips panel..but picture is beautiful in a room with no lights on at night..no blooming..minimal black crush as well it just has beautiful picture.. sound is superb as well (altho i still used by lg soundbar just cause i have it), its easy to navigate as welkll..only thing is the magic remote.. lg could have made it look more premium..instead of plastic other than that this tv is great! Best one ive owned..

Great TV

published

I bought 75 LG SM8600 two weeks ago and so disappointed with the picture quality of that TV. I told the store to replace it with 75 LG NANO91 and am happy so far. Its not OLED but pretty much similar in terms of picture quality. Good colour and deep blacks. Not seeing any blooming issues like previous TV.

Do you recommend this TV for streaming across WiFI? If so, what apps come installed - e.g. Netflix, Apple TV, Amazon Prime?

I'm not too concerned about what apps come with the TV. The reason is that I can just plug a Google Android TV dongle into one of the HDMI ports, and add whatever apps I want. So you're not fixed to the apps it has.

LG Nano91 Series (2020)

Details

While a 65-inch screen size seems to have become the new benchmark for 4K TVs, shelling out $3, 239 for a full-priced 65-inch LG Nano91 TV is no cheap feat. The 75-inch version is a little over $5, 000, and the impressive 86-inch screen fittingly comes with a jaw-dropping $7,439 price tag.

Processor

The Nano91 Series uses an Alpha 7 Gen 3 Processor for 4K with AI Picture, AI Sound and 4K Upscaling. This means that your TV uses Artificial intelligence to effectively cater its sound and image settings to the TV's location in the room. 4K upscaling adjusts the original resolution of content that is not native 4K content - to render it in 4K.

LG Nano Cell technology

This uses particles to absorb light wavelengths that distort colour. The result is that red and greens display more ‘purely.’ Nano Cell also produces what the brand calls ‘True Colour,’ which refers to colours that stay accurate, including when watching the curved half-crescent screen at wide viewing angles. This helps everyone watching TV to enjoy the vivid colours, no matter where they’re sitting in the room.

Is Nano Cell the same as Samsung’s QLED?

While both are versions of LED LCD screen tech, they are brand specific. Nano Cell technology is unique to LG TVs, whereas QLED is Samsung’s patented Quantum Dot LED technology. This uses a backlit LED panel or colour sheet over an LCD screen to create rich picture quality. Some commentators say that the use of an extra sheet waters down the effectiveness of the technology.

Other Features

Other attractive features that the LG Nano91 Series is equipped with are: Dolby Vision IQ & Atmos, full array local dimming – which allows for deeper blacks and enhanced contrast, filmmaker mode, HDR10 Pro and HLG Pro - which adjust scenes so that they deliver the richest picture quality possible, compatibility with Apple AirPlay (with a subscription), as well as the inclusion of LG-specific channels.
