Heaters Buying Guide
Our buying guide will explain which type of heater would suit you most, how much you can expect to pay for one, and which features are worth looking out for.
Disapointed with the fan
I replaced my 20 year old heater with this Masport model but the fan is not strong enough. It does not have the heating effect that my old heater had. Can I replace the fan with a better unit? It works OK but doesn't get the heat circulating outside the room.

dissappointed
Very disappointed with this heater and get warmer sitting right in front of it with the door open. I've previously had for 20 years freestanding coonara heaters that were incredible. This Masport looks good ..... that's about it. The fan is not strong enough, its noisy (can't hear it in noisy shop) the vent doesn't close enough so when you shut it down overnight it continues to burn faster than it should, or what I'm used to..... and yes I've had it checked. If I could pull it out and replace it I would in a flash. With the Coonara if fre...Read more
estanding you also receive heat radiantly, the fan pushes out fast and they close like I want overnight. Used to live winter in t shirts inside, now I promise you I have thermal singlets and jumpers on. Not ideal. If you have a very small area, like granny flat it may be ok. expensive for inefficiencySimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Brilliant heater - no regrets
Hummed and haaed about gas versus wood heaters but ended up going with a combustion heater. We installed this in a large an ineffective open fire (so terrible that the previous owners carpeted right up to it and blocked it all off).
Our only issue was that the chimney wasn't straight so the flue kit was useless and we have to rely on the existing chimney. This means that the fire doesn't draw as well as it could (especially when cold), and takes a while to heat everything up as it's heating the entire chimney. On the plus side the front face...Read more
of the brick chimney radiates that heat into the living area so once it's warmed up it's great. We do tend to get a bit of smoke in the house when lighting up, but it's worth it for the ambience and long lasting, comfortable heat. We have a young child so got a babydan hearth guard as well - can't recommend them highly enough either. Doesn't get hot to touch and is great for drying the washing overnight. Only ongoing issue is the fan doesn't work on the high speed, but we've been slack and not got the installer back to check it out as the low speed is sufficient for our needs (and not too noisy). Solid, well made, heats the house beautifully High speed not working on fanSimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
