SRS808 has developed a hum at moderate volume levels. I use different amps but the only way I can now perform is with the mic set to zero and limit the piezo to a med setting. I have read of this problem with other maton guitars.
Basically unless I am doing a quiet gig this guitar is now useless.

SRS808C.
After 18 months this great guitar became useless as the bridge lifted and a bulge appeared.
I will go through the process with the retailer and Maton but, after a few moments of google, "Maton bridge problem", I see this is not unusual. Maybe acceptable for a cheapy but I am so disappointed that an Aussie icon has failed. I have babied this guitar so the fault lies in manufacture. Caveat Emptor.

Handle broke within 6 months of use. Contacted Maton thinking they’d stand by their product and they said there as nothing they could do. Clearly dont care about their customers.

Bought an expensive one a couple of months ago with the AP5-Pro system. Acoustically the guitar is well balanced and sounds nice. However the mic pre-amp is noisy (white noise), it isn't as bad with the mic volume setting all the way down but it's not silent. Was told by Maton that the noise is within spec. Oh well. Secondly, after a while of playing, a metallic sort of buzz or rattle coming from directly underneath the saddle became prominent when certain notes were played. Read moreem and instead decided to do a full setup on it. Problem was there when it came back so it went back to factory a second time. Phoned Maton to explain the problem (as it wasn't a typical fret buzz or overtone issue and nothing was loose inside), and specifically asked for the pickup system to be investigated and swapped out. The message evidently wasn't passed on to the repairer the problem still there when it arrived back. Disappointed in the lack of customer service, care and complete lack of communication between Maton and customer to make sure they knew what exactly what they were supposed to address, how to replicate the problem and make sure it definitely is fixed before sending back. Phoned up again and asked to speak to the repairer and he didn't even remember working on my guitar and therefore couldn't tell me what he found wrong or did to it. Instead just explained the typical problems people usually have, none of which were relevant to mine. I offered to send an audio recording of the noise in question in case it helped them realise that this problem was unique, and the response I got was "If it makes you feel better." This is disgusting. I paid a lot of money for a very good instrument that seems to be a dud and I don't feel like they cared enough about my complaint.- Product Quality

Know better, choose better.
I recently made the decision to invest in a high quality guitar. After doing the rounds of every music shop in my area and trying alot of guitars I settled on a Maton SRS60c. I knew as soon as I played it that is was the right instrument for me. Fantastic tone, wonderful action and beautifully constructed. I havent regretted buying it for one second.

I purchased a Maton ecw80c about 15 years ago! I was so impressed with the crisp clean & bright sound! You’ all know the song summer of 69? Well I literally played It till my fingers bleed! Just couldn’t put it down! AP5 pups’ unbelievable
Ps I played at least 30 different guitars before I purchased my Maton, it’s my mate for life!

So my first touch with a Maton was back in 2000, an EM225c from the local music store. I sat down, played some chords (newbie guitarist at the time) and oh wow - the tone sent chills... Beautiful minors and great balance across mids and highs particularly, even though a base model adjustment of the bass when plugged in made this guitar sing!

Make then sing, make them squeal, but they'll always return to you exactly what you put into them. Superior workmanship throughout the range, I commend the Maton Guitar Company of Melbourne, Australia for their fine contribution to the manufacturing of Australian Musical Instrument. Have been saving for this for quite a while cause I normally play electric but I'm really liking this guitar and really think it was with it!
