After a lot of research we decided to get a Mitsubishi fridge because of the warranty and of all the different compartments. Fridge is great, does all the things it claims but we live in a power outage area, with power going out with a puff of wind. When the power comes back on the fridge freezes everything in it, including milk, cream, I mean all compartments and it won't be manually reset. Mitsubishi sent a repair man out who fixed it but now its happened again and I placed a repair request 5 days ago and still no reply other then the standard 'we received your request'. Great fridge but beware if you live in a constant power outage area! Sick of trying to defrost everything before eating and frozen milk is horrible.

A whole dedicated draw space to rot your vegetables - GREAT!
I recently spent 3k+ on a MR-EX655 based on the 5 star reviews its received here, however it rots my vegetables. The fridge has a whole large draw space set aside as a vegetable crisper however carrots last a day before starting to soften, and three days before going brown. Even a chilli didn't last long.
The dedicated bottom drawer has three areas to store vegetables - a large bucket (similar to standard vegetable crisper sections in a single door style fridge), a tray which slides on the bucket, and a section in front of the bucket. NOTHIN...
Read moreG stays crisp inside the bucket, which is far and away the largest area in the crisper drawer - it's useless and not fit for purpose. Secondly, didn't mitsubishi check the size of milk containers when designing the door shelves? You can only fit one 3L milk container (or any only large container) in the door, while other sections within the fridge can't accommodate any tall containers since NO internal shelves are height adjustable - you're kind of stuck with the shelf height the designers deemed satisfactory, which on regular occasions isn't convenient at all. With a fridge this size surely they'd assume you're feeding a large family and therefor may need more than one 3L bottle on hand, less you want to shop every second day. The fridge is overly complicated with the controls too, though this is probably true of any modern fridge. Note to fridge designers - people just want the thing to cool and freeze things so you can do away with 1000 customisable controls and functions - none of which are used regularly enough for you to remember what they did or how they work. The fridge is quiet, thought I can only compare it to my 20 year old Fisher & Paykel which after 20 years wasn't a church mouse - though it DID keep my vegetables crisp and fresh for a long time - which in my view is far more important that silent running.- 57 reviews

Silence is Golden ... err - make that Platinum
After 16+ faithful years of service from our old fridge (a USA built Whirlpool), we decided to upgrade to something a tad more modern and most importantly something that generated a bit less noise around the house. I had been a fan of the big french door Samsung - so much in fact that I bought one for my mum last year. Unfortunately they've been dreadfully unhappy with it and having seen those struggles first hand I decided to steer clear of the brand. So then I read about the Mitsubishi - most notably the claim of low noise interested me. All ...
Read morethe 5* ratings here did the rest and soon enough we were in-store ready to buy. The first decision to make was size. Our old unit was just under 550l, so we didn't want to consider anything smaller. In the end we settled on the MR-EX655 instead of the slightly smaller 562l variant, and I'm glad we did. Don't be fooled by the numbers. Yes it is large, but the appearance of a gigantic fridge is quickly diminished by some of the unusual constraints. Due to the many drawers (four of them), you need to think totally differently with this design compared to a big empty box (a.k.a. the old style fridge) where you have probably a bit more flexibility. With the Mitsubishi you need to think : Fridge, ice, freezer, freezer, veggies. The reason being that each compartment has quite specific and rigid temperature limits. I'll explain what I mean.. The upper main fridge part on this big 655l unit was actually smaller (i.e 327 l vs 396 l) than our older and overall smaller fridge. The reason of course is because the fridge and the veggie segment are split. The vegetable compartment drawer (the lowest drawer) is 116 litres, which is quite large and combining the two certainly starts to overtake our older fridge in size. The veggie area is purely for that purpose however. It has an always-on orange type light to keep your veggies fresher longer (neat idea) and more importantly an elevated temperature compared to the fridge. The fridge can bet set from 0-6 degrees, whereas the vegetable drawer goes from 3-9. If you regularly shop for heaps of vegies, this is awesome but if you just need a very large fridge (e.g. for lots of drinks) then be careful. Width is probably no different to a standard single door unit, however the double french doors are great at limiting the intrusion of space into the kitchen area. Bonus points for the triple internal fridge drawers to help organise contents, although the egg holder is only for 10 eggs - not a dozen. The door bins are split into two rows. Front is OK for slimmer bottles, however they do only just squeeze in a regular sized Ozzy 1.25l drink bottles. Luckily the 2nd row at the back supports a bigger 2L milk bottle or larger variants. Height is probably the main thing you will struggle with. Shelves are essentially fixed (although the lower one has a great height adjust slider). The top two shelves do however slide back to give you some more height on the lower shelves. The fridge also has to accommodate the water container for the ice maker, which takes away some more valuable fridge real estate. The ice maker is a really simple and uncomplicated design however which works very well. The small drawer under the fridge is dedicated for ice only. A fantastic feature in my opinion. Much much better than those door dispensers where you have to stand there for ages whilst the thing grinds and pops away. This is genius simplicity .. slide the drawer open and shovel away. They even give you a little ice scoop within the drawer - Fantastic! You can disable the ice maker and use the drawer as another freezer space, but it's questionable re-purposing that unit due to the limited height it offers. We saw this fridge a year ago and thought it was amazing, so when we designed our new kitchen we planned ahead to buy it after it was all finished. We have just purchased and installed the fridge and we are so happy with it. Our friends and family all ooh and ahh when we show them it. A big thumbs up !!

Who'd have thought buying a fridge could be exciting?
I had some doubts before buying this fridge, but the reviews spoke volumes and it did have some unusually cool innovations - and, you know what they say - happy wife, happy life! Now that we have it, I have to admit to being kind of happy myself. The're is no doubt the multi-drawer concept makes great sense. Just as modern kitchens have plenty of drawers rather than cupboards so items aren't lost at the back, so should every fridge. Although the main vegie drawer is huge, everything in it is easy to find because the multi-layered compartments a...
Read morere so well designed. The top drawer slides back to reveal the next level, and there is a separate, deeper compartment at the front for bulky items such as pumpkins and bunches of kale and silver beet. Those items used to clog the fronts of several shelves in our old fridge but not any more. The drawer is also quite light and opens and closes easily, unlike the big cumbersome freezer drawers on so many modern fridges. My main concerns before buying this fridge were: a) the upper shelves in the main compartment were not height adjustable, and seemed too closely spaced b) the larger drawer inside the main fridge compartment (what I thought was a small vegie crisper but actually turned out to a colder area for meats and cheeses) only opened half-way, making it awkward to get to items at the rear. c) the door compartments seemed unnecessarily high and overly spaced vertically, ie there could have been four, rather than three door compartments/shelves. Well, once we changed our stacking system and learned to put things in different places, we actually found the shelf spacing to be spot on. We can actually see and reach everything. I do stand by my second point about the chiller drawer, but you can just lift the front of it to bring it out past the stops when necessary. The door compartments hold a surprising amount of bottles and cartons of all sizes and, being french doors, allow you to access those compartments really easily and quickly without having to open both doors and lose cold air. Ice maker: We wouldn't have dreamed of buying a Samsung or LG which sacrifices so much door space for ice making, but the dedicated ice tray in the EX655 is a winner. It is compact and so easy to access without releasing cold air from the fridge. The fridge was easy to install, being on smoothly rolling casters, with very easily adjustable locking feet. Lastly, being brushed stainless, the fridge looks good and is universally suited to any kitchen (unlike the big brother 743 model). I was a doubter, but I don't think you can go wrong with this fridge. And you can actually have a bit of fun enjoying its "coolness"!Have just received our 655l model today and have been super happy with it thus far. Its storage space is deceivingly large. It just swallowed up the contents of our last top mount f/f that now we need to do another grocery shop tomorrow to make it look more full! So YES my wife now has a new love! But.... I have found one of its flaws tonight when I had some 1 on 1 time myself!

Love the ice maker, love the Eco electricity use. Works great. Great for fresh food. Plenty of space in the fridge, being only the two of us, haven't yet filled but love the ability to regulate each area of use for power. Having travelled for last three years not used to having a large fridge again, but not complaining. It just works well

works well, only concern i had before buying this fridge was to store 2 and 3 ltr milk bottles, but i can fit three 3ltr bottles without problem in one of the door shelf.
I find freezer section is little bit small but saying that i wished i went for next size up.
love how easy it is to scoop ice out and it does not require plumbing. inserting water bottle for ice-making is also very easy.
silly to have egg tray that only holds 10 eggs, when eggs come in dozen from any supermarket. also if I don't want to put eggs in that little compartment, then there is not much stuff that would fit in that little section wasting space. I like how in bigger version they got rid of that little egg tray compartments and instead gave loose egg tray.

Simply A Great Fridge, And The Icemaker Is A Smart Design
We've had our MR-EX655W for about a year now. A terrific fridge. Quiet and has a good number of compartments. We really wanted an ice maker but not one that required being plumbed in. The system in this fridge is so simple to use and filling the water container is easy.

I used to have a Mitsubishi drawer fridge/freezer which I very reluctantly sold when moving into an apartment with a built in fridge/freezer. Since then I've had a Fisher & Paykel which was terrible, an LG which wasn't bad but not on par with Mitsubishi and a very disappointing Bosch. Writing about the Bosch was the reality check I needed to go out and buy a fridge/freezer that actually worked and so I ended up with this one. I now realise how much I missed my Mitsubishi. Its quieter than ever, it really does cool and freeze as it should do, my...
Read more fruit and vegetables really do last longer in the veg drawer, the controls are fantastic, the shelves are very flexible and the versa drawer a great addition. You do pay quite a lot more to have such luxury but its well worth it believe me. If I was to nit pick the fridge doors were not level when it arrived, some of the plastic mouldings do feel a little cheap to the touch compared to my previous Mitsubishi and the outside does show up where hands have been but its easily cleaned. A wonderful fridge/freezer and I will not repeat my previous mistake of selling ever again.Awesome Fridge - Love the ice drawer!
Had the fridge for a couple of weeks now and absolutely loving it. Quality is amazing and better than all other fridges we looked at. Even the overpriced European ones (probably made in China). Having the separate drawer for vegetables gives this fridge so much more space. With the hot weather now the ice draw would have to be one of my favourite things with the fridge! I am also finding myself putting chocolate, jerky and other foods into the vegetable drawer as it keeps things cool but not too cold. Having the separate compartments also means...
Read more that you're not always opening the fridge to then open another door or tray inside the fridge. If anyone is considering this fridge, I highly recommend spending the extra to get it as Mitsubishi have actually invested that extra money into making a quality product (unlike other "European" makes). As this is a Japanese made fridge you will find the price will fluctuate with the exchange rate AUD-JPY. The price of the 655 in Japan is around 300,000 yen so for around the $3500 mark in Australia is a bargain if you ask me. I'm surprised they can even get it here for that much and make money. Hats off to Mitsubishi for bringing this Japanese made fridge to Australia. Main Points: -Very quiet -Easy to clean -Temperature is adjustable in all compartments -Ice drawer is great for summer -Shelf height adjustable- 2 reviews

I love this fridge. I had read the reviews on this site and loved it based on those but I was unsure about whether the relatively high price tag was worth it - but it is! This fridge is so cleverly designed and has features that I did not even know I wanted but that I now cannot live without. I purchased this fridge after much deliberation. Before I ordered my fridge, I wasn't sure about the look or colour but I am ABSOLUTELY delighted with the storage, look, feel and how QUIET it is. I have not heard it running, ever! It's better than a plumbed fridge, so easy to make ice and takes no room. I love the divided sections and it really 'blends' into the kitchen rather than dominating the kitchen. Who really wants to make the fridge the feature piece ?
Purchased approximately 6 months ago
Fantastic efficient fridge and comes with 5 year warranty and is made in Japan
Dear Kay,
We are delighted to hear you are very happy with your fridge purchase. The MR-EX655W really is a great model. I'm sure you'll continue to be very happy with it....
Read more Just so you know, this model features inverter technology. The inverter gradually increases/decreases the compressor (instead of turning off and on with a clunk). This helps to make it really quiet. Glad you you like the non-plumbed ice maker. The idea behind that is you don't have to worry about getting a plumber in. Also, it's pretty easy to pull the jug out to fill and the other parts to clean. So it's healthier! Be sure to follow us on Facebook. We are working on some content that shows you how you can use some of the advanced functions like the versa drawer. now a few months into it, and would recommend this product without hesitation
be aware that it is both wide and deep; we had to remove the front door from our house to (just) allow it to traverse the entrance area - once in though, that volume proves valuable for maximum storage, and it is stylish in a way that grows on you with familiarity, and like the tardis, externally belies the expanse hidden within once the doors open
