Under powered, but reasonably priced for 7 seater
One of the cheapest 7 seater vehicles you can buy. Good fuel economy if you drive slowly. CVT transmission takes a bit of getting used to. Nice that is has DAB radio as standard. Middle row seats slide, so you can apportion leg room between second and third row depending on passenger size. One strange thing is that it has a GPS sensor, but no option for maps. You have to use your phone data to mirror maps to the car display. Capped price servicing for first three years at $230 a service is pretty good.
Overall quite a reasonable car. Good choice if budget wont stretch to a larger car, but you still need 7 seats.
Purchased in April 2021 for A$27,667.00.

2016 OUTLANDER 2.4lt Petrol 4wd Wife Loves It
Bought this for the wife to travel back and forth to work as she drives on some dirt roads to get there just needed something with a little more clearance. Legroom is great plenty of space basically all round. Have tried it in 4WD and it seems to work fine. Only thing that takes a bit of getting used to ( and probably not a bad thing) is the auto when it changes through gears you don't actually feel it is. The 2.4lt petrol seems gutsy enough wouldn't tow anything too heavy though I think it would struggle a bit. While the wife is happy I am happy. Over all SO FAR it seems to be a nice car. Had it for nearly 12 months now.

Many defects (deemed characteristic by Mitsubishi) but fixable by independent mechanics
36 MONTH UPDATE: I took the car to a non Mitsubishi mechanic for the 36 month service. They listened to the car and what I was telling them about the noises and how the transmission was behaving. One of the mechanics had recently come across from a Mitsubishi dealer and it appears as if he actually knew what he was doing. He explained that the noise in the motor was due to resonance within the various part of the engine and proceeded to tighten and check all clips, nuts and bolts. The noise has now gone.
CVT noise - The first thing the n...Read more
ew mechanic did was to check the CVT fluid level when the car was hot. The transmission was overfull. This can impact on the operation and noise of the CVT due to increased pressure within the box. The mechanic drained some of oil to bring it back to the level is should be sitting at when hot. The sounds and operates like it did when it was new. The whining noise between 1200 and 1450 rpm has completely gone. The rust in the front bumper is still being looked into by the Mitsubishi dealer and the bumper should be fixed in the near future. Now that the issue with noises in the transmission and engine have been resolved I will most like keep the car until the end of the warranty period as is generally a very versatile and reliable car. The Mitsubishi tick (carbon canister noise) is still there and should be fixed under warranty but Mitsubishi will not replace it . All it took was going to an independent mechanic to get most of the issues resolved! IMPORTANT 30 MONTH UPDATE- At this stage Mitsubishi Motors Australia will not fix any of the engine or transmission noises in my car as they deem them to be a characteristic of the car. There is no mention at the point of sale or in the manual that your car will develop noises in the drive train as the vehicle ages. My car developed the drivetrain noises at 7000km however we have another Outlander (20,000km) which hasn't developed this characteristic. This car is not a long term keeper. Please read the full update at the bottom of page. I think that this car was manufactured on a Monday.
Purchased in October 2021.

Great value for money
Have had nothing but great experiences with this Car. The 7 seater is spacious enough to hold a whole family and luggage. All of the usual bells & whistles at your finger tips including a large colour touch screen with Android Auto / Apple car play.
On road it is smooth, comfortable & quiet. Fuel economy is what you would expect and there is even an "Eco" mode if you want to be really frugal.

Really happy with purchase
Is a nice car to drive. Took a little while to work out how best to drive it (this is my first time driving automatic transmission). For example, for normal driving one tends to have it in economy mode. In this mode it does feel a little sluggish, but turn off economy and boy does this thing fly. Overtaking up a hill is no problem for this car. Really glad I got the 2.4L model.

areness when driving it). Handling wise it doesn't feel any bigger. As a tall person, who likes to sit quite upright when driving, I really appreciate the high roof. Gives me plenty of headspace, unlike some of the Hyundai's I tried out.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

I like the outlander - though not much grunt
The new outlander (2 wheel drive, 7 seater) has been a really good purchase. really great interior with the 7 seat option and good storage levels. The boot and configuration of seats is really practical.
The version we got (OUTLANDER LS 2WD 7 SEAT AUTO) lacks some grunt, but a very economical SUV.

Well Built Vehicle - Love that Car!
We upgraded to the seven seater Outlander due to our growing family.
I was skeptical as not familiar with Mitsubishi Brand (havent driven and didn't know anyone who owned this car) plus have had issues with a CVT transmission when we owned a Honda Jazz.
1,800 km's on the clock and it is running beautifully. We love how Quite and Smooth it is. It has been well built (built in Japan - so you cant go wrong) and it is exceptionally economical.
For the first 1000kms, we were getting around 650km's per full tank. Now that the engine is run i...Read more
n more, it would appear that we will get around 700 - 750kms. Note - we have been filling up with the premium unleaded fuel. We have been driving in the eco mode and has been driving excellently. Recently I noticed that when you do take off eco mode, you do get a little bit more power on take off. Some may find that due to the transmission being CVT, it lacks that power on take off, however when you put it on sports mode (and as someone else has mentioned) it is amazing on power!Purchased in November 2021 at Heartland Motors for A$27,500.00.

Awesome family car
7 seater at good price. Finished well and extremely economical. 2ltr is fine and cvt is a charm when you know how to drive it. Very comfortable and quiet...Great size for 3 little kids and plenty room in the back. Best new car family has purchased and highly recommended. Has all features required.

No Issues So Far
We purchased the new Outlander about 9 months ago and so far it has been a great drive, it's smooth driving, starts every time we have needed it to (I have had cars that have had electrical issues from the start so this is a good thing :)). Free servicing for the first 3 years to is a great deal from Mitsubishi, we just got ours services and it wasn't an issue at all, they said we could get it serviced at any Mitsubishi dealer in Australia so thats good if we ever move.

So far so good
Bought the base model Outlander in Dec 2015, nine months in and really happy with purchase. Its not a road rocket going up hill from a standing start but once cruising along at 90kmh nudge it into sports mode and it takes off, you will be surprised how quickly it can climb to well above speed limit. Have done two trips to Adelaide from Melbourne, its roomy, comfortable and quiet. Does not have all the bells and whistles, so not paying for stuff you don't need. All other essentials work well ie heater, air con, blue tooth phone etc. Its quite a ...Read more
large vehicle but you get used to it, the reverse camera and sensors come in handy. I was surprised how economical it is, on a run I was getting 7.5 litres per 100kms. So yes I would recommend this car for those who don't want to spend a whole heap of money, about 27K drive away is what you should expect to pay.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Bad experience
Low kms and I have a issue when I put the car in reverse in the morning the revs drop to 500 then back to 1000. 2 times I have tried to get Mitsubishi to fix it and they can't find a fault. I recorded the problem and sent it off to head office who a representative come out to my house who told me it is a "characteristic" of the car. Lots of money and I have to put up with this. The 2.0 engine feels very underpowered, I would say the diesel was a better option we test drove that but settled for the cheapest. Bad mistake. Thanks to Mitsubishi Motors for nothing.

Not The Greatest
The suv is ok but go for the bigger engine the 2 ltr is poor in power, the front of the car is very hard to see this should of come with parking senors. The accessory kits for this suv are way over priced for what you get you better buying on ebay.
I would not buy this suv again there are better products out there for the money. The resale is poor customer service is poor and yes I did purchase new, shop around for parts and fitting them as it will vary for dealership to dealer ship in a big way.

Economical and quiet 2016 base model LS is good value
The base model LS doesn't have all the bells and whistles but at only $26,888 drive away it was good buying.
The Outlander comfortably sits four adults with lots of leg room in front and back as well as good luggage space. On the road it is quiet, smooth, and handles well, although I haven't pushed it yet.
At times the 2.0L is a little lacking in power and won't push you back in the seat, but overall it isn't bad and rewards you at the pump. For what seems like a large vehicle it gets very good fuel consumption. I am getting well un...Read more
der 10 litres per 100 km driving around town and in the mid 7's or better on the open road. This with a car that isn't run in (only 400 km so far). Not exciting performance, but comfortable, economical, practical, good looking and well priced. So far I am pleased with my purchase. The fuel economy continues to impress, with several freeway trips around Melbourne averaging around 6.5 litres/100Km with three or more in the car.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Nice package with dynamic shield...impressive so far. Let's see if it's better than the crapppy Hold
If you have read my previous review on the Holden Cruze, this will be an on going review on the performance of the outlander. I have in the past had a NM Pajero which was a beautiful car which has lead me to this purchase after having a terrible experience with Holden, now to the outlander. Car purchased 3 weeks ago have already had to return one for a faulty power window button which was fix in the first 1500k service. Heaps of room for a fam of 5 (3 teenages) have the 2.4l 4wd model in economy mode the engines a little gutless which is good f...Read more
or city traffic and saving fuel. This thing has the same economy of a 1.8l Cruze in economy mode. However when you shift into sports mode and engage 4wd it's like giving granddad a bottle of viagra...boy does this thing power up and is great for surprising small sports car drivers whom think that the 2.4 does not have any power. The car is quiet, very quiet even when powering up. Good interior and viewing perspective as you do sit high up like in any mid size Suv. The technology in the mid range model could include sat Nav but has Rv camera, Bluetooth streaming abs, Tcs, cruise control and climate control. The instrument panel on the dash is a little bit lacking with no temp gauge and no on going ambient outside temp which is available through cycled options...space..space...space this thing has compartments where you would not think it would have compartments. I feel like Han Solo smuggling Luke sykywalker in the melinium falcon. The cup holders are a little far away and cumbersome...so far so good. Battery drain a pain
Great car apart from the constant pain with the battery.
Brand new 2015 outlander and already 2 new batteries and 7 RACQ call outs to jumpstart the car.
ECU problem fixed apparently by Mitsubishi; but still a 1/2 amp drain constant. No interior lights left on or anything apparently on. Frustrating to say the least. Guess its another drop in to the Mitsubishi service centre
