My Mitsubishi Outlander 2006 (ZG.ZH - 11.06 to 10.12) has a fuel tank level indicator problem is the problem with the sensor or the computer. When full the indication is correct but rapidly drops and at 300 kilometres shows need for refuel, but only takes 30 litres to full.

Hey guys, Im looking at buying 2006 Mitsubishi Outlander XLS ZG Auto 4x4 MY07
and wondering if it is capable of off road and rugged terrain and also beach driving with a lot of soft sand? We do a lot of camping, we currently have a Pajero that needs major repairs so thinking its easier to get another car. Thanks

Personally think it would struggle just cause its a 4x4 dosnt mean it can handle off road. Not built like a pajero
I would buy a Plug in electric model. The combined power from the petrol and electric motors can give a Chrysler 300c a run for its money. Add 4wd and you have a good balance for all 3 motors.

OUTLANDER ZG, ZH
hi
i have 2007 ZG. From last few months my fuel gauge is playing up. It goes down very quickly and show low fuel warning even if there half tank of fuel. Then some times goes back up and then down again. Not showing accurate reading. This model has digital display bar gauge.

I have the Mitsubishi Outlander 2006 (ZG.ZH - 11.06 to 10.12) with exactly the same problem, is this a sign of a dodgy batch of tank level sensors, and if so is there a way of fixing this ?
3 answers
No problem wilth the sensors on my PHEV.
From Bob Davidson, I have found that when I eventally plucked up enogh courage to do it, I let the fuel guage keep telling me to refuel but I kept on driving until I finally did get the small fuel sign telling me that there was a need to put in more fuel. I did drive another twenty or so kilometers before I refuelled and since then I have noticed an improvement in the way the level indicator has been behaving. I will let the fuel drop again until I get the correct low level indiator activated again to see if it gets even better.
An add on it seems that the level transmitter needs to be exercised throughout its full range occasionally.

could I sleep in the car

When I was young I would have slept in an Outland if they had been around (better than a Gemini) however the seats don't go completely flat and you wouldn't want to be very tall. I would still prefer the car over a tent myself.
thanx... That was helpful... I'll look @ other similar. Might post in FB. i want a well regarded but well priced vehicle I can use every day, Pull up and sleep in it o/n. I usually use cabins/motels/deal bought accomodation, for a stay of greater length
We sleep as a couple in the back of the PHEV. An extra pillow or cushion helps. We put it on charge while we sleep. When starting out in the morning we save the drive battery by pressing the SAVE button until we don't need lights, heating or wipers. The economy is better that way.

Does 2012 Mitsubishi Outlander ES ZJ Auto 4WD MY13 has a timing belt or timing chain? How often should you change it?
B JOasked
How long should a timing chain last in a 2012 Diesel Auto Outlander ? Service manual doesn't state when it should be changed.

Most manufactures say a timing chain or/and belt (belt is dearer) should be replaced at about 80000km however they can last longer. Depends on the use of the vehicle and quality of services and parts you have over the years. Tell-tale sign is a car acting sluggish as you don't want it to locks up. AS they cost about $600 on average to replace or $248 for a kit. Not a nice bill to look forward to. I am not an expert just my own experience.
It does state in service guides and can also be found on Mitsubishi website as has different scheduled services for petrol vs diesel. And if towing or not etc
The timing chain is designed to last the life of the diesel motor.

Does anyone have any issues with the 2014 Mitsubishi outlander 2wd 2l petrol motor
1 answer
None that I know. But the power is better distributed in 2014 plug in electric model with the petrol engine.

My 2004 indicator lights both flash at the same time . They are half as bright on dash, but normal outside. I have removed cluster and checked and cleaned plugs etc with contact cleaner. Local instrument repairer doesn’t think it’s an instrument fault. Anyone had the same?
