Hi. You will find two vent tubes under the 2 front seats on the floor that transfer air to the rear. no actual control vents in the rear. Hope that helps.

I have towed a 15ft caravan with both petrol and diesel and they cope fine but the diesel is a lot better. I have done over 100,000ks towing with Outlanders and have had no problems.

Hello,
I have a 2003 Outlander with the 4G64 motor and has developed a loss of power when accelerating hard from around 2000rpm. If you accelerate hard from start it actually goes well, it just loses power when you floor it from around 2000rpm and then eventually accelerates hard after around 5 seconds. Have had it on a code reader and everything read fault free. Replaced fuel filter/ air filter and checked fuel pressure which reads fine. When the problem occurs the computer shows "0" fuel but fuel pressure is 300.
Any thoughts would be very much appreciated.

Just bought 2017 Outlander LS. From the day one when try to floor the accelerator the car does not speed up but raise the power needle high and three (usually green) squares on the odo screen turn yellow. As soon as I pick up the foot from accelerator it ease up, flooring the accelerator would speed up and three squares on odo screen lid up green.

Wondering if this is an issue? as I spoken to dealer they said just drive till 1500km and will see after. But I am enjoying the drive at all. Any thoughts would be great.

We had a similar problem with our Sept 2016 Outlander. We told the dealer about the hesitation and lack of response when depressing the accelerator and they applied the 'recall' fix to the car. This fixed out issue and the car has been great since. The recall related to a hesitation issue. You can find it in google or on recalls.gov.au.

gerry161
gerry161

The 2017MY has a safety item that if harsh acceleration is detected it will cut the power such as an accidental heavy push on the accelerator in car park etc. I am not sure if this is only included in the Safety Pack or not. However I have heard of this hesitation but has not affected mine. If you has reactive cruise control switched on also that may affect acceleration if following another vehicle.

gerry161
gerry161

If it is green it is good, but every time you plant the foot it will show orange etc as you are wasting fuel. You can check fuel consumption and driving habits on the screen. Under the Vehicle info icon.

As soon as I turn on my car the blue temperature gauge comes on right away is it supposed to do? I have to wait to shut off before I go

1 answer

Blue means the engine is cold, quite normal. (Be kind to a cold engine, don't rev it hard and accelerate hard till the engine has warmed up.)
Many cars have that blue light.

Red means hot. That's when you need to stop the engine and call for help.

Sorry Davo, I'm just a consumer that also bought an outlander, I have no idea? Though mine doesn't do that, it does, however always revert back to the full contents (ie not just a playlist or album) of my ipod everytime I turn on the car, and takes ages to process the ipod before I can change it... so a run to the shops may end up with a Christmas carol or nursery rhyme and you can't do anything about it. If you work out how to change yours, let me know if you can 'save' the playing of a playlist for eaxh time you start the engine..

Best thing to do is take it straight back to the dealer and ask them to fix it.

It only works from a recent Android Phones,( I have Samsung Note 1) too old not compatable with Android Auto, with Bluetooth and Google Maps, and you need to d/l the App 'Android Auto' then it should pair and show on the screen when u select GPS. The GPS knows where we are when we touch GPS on the screen with global positioning, but that's not much help.

Perhaps a small improvement at low speeds when you put the foot down... but negligible if there is any....and perhaps just my mind playing tricks on me!

Every time I start my Mitsubishi Outlander engine overheat light in blue colour turns on but after few minutes turns of. Is it normal with this car or some thing is wrong. Does anyone experience the same??

2 answers

I think you will find that the blue light that comes on every time from a cold start indicates the engine is in fact cold and not overheating! Quite why anyone would need to know that is puzzling but there you have it.

David
David

Blue is indeed cold. Many cars without a temp gauge have that. Even our old Hyundai Getz had that.
(Red is hot.)
It's wise not to thrash your engine when cold, just in the interest of looking after it.

I'd be curious to know how many other Australian Mitsubishi Outlander owners are having problems with the Check Engine Warning Light coming on in their vehicle? This issue has been ongoing for nearly three years with our vehicle. It has been in at Mitsubishi for about four months of the last year.

5 answers
Ron
Ron

What issue? The warning light comes on, but what error code does it give?
What has the servicing agent said the error is?
Could be something simple like your petrol cap isn't on tight enough.
I have a very cheap OBD2 scanner, an Elm327, that plugs into the OBD port and I can read the error codes output from the ECU on a mobile phone. Any error codes that come up - none yet - I can Google and take action.

cruddbucket

I got the Check Engine warning light *once only* after my ASC failed, and cut power to my engine ... about 1000kms short of my 45K service. The warning light ran for about the next 30kms of driving, and at the service I mentioned it. The best they got back to me with was something about updating the firmware. But that's my service centres response to everything.... yeah. Bit miffed about the battery in my NEW car (purchased in Mar 2014) dying earlier this year and being told by Roadside Assist that the battery is dodgy and should have gone for at least three years, and then being told by the dealer that the warranty on it is only 12 months. Great customer service, hey? (I hear only Jeep is better). I want to like my car, and I do, but the whole experience has been disappointing. Like the authorised accessories - they installed roof-racks that were KNOWN to have issues with resonance when driving over 60kms/hr ... however they don't actually fix the design, no, they just give you "plugs" when you crack the *poos* (yes, apparently I swore there and couldn't post my response) and complain about it. They also lied about fuel economy.... yeah. It's stacking up against them, isn't it.

dave

hey SMB i have an 05 outlander and have the engine warning light problem. Mitsubishi act like they have never heard of it and of course want to spend 2-3 hours searching the cause. Codes suggest O2 sensors among other things. Im getting several different codes and think its an ECU problem. daveyb40 at gmail dotcom

Hi,
I purchased a 2014 Outlander second hand but still under warranty from dealer a couple of weeks ago...when I turn the car on the engine light comes on and after driving may 90sec it turns off. Is this normal?

1 answer

We have a four year old Lancer from new. Every time we start it, a "routine maintenance" message appears and goes off quickly. The dealer insisted many times that this is normal. However, after recent service and recall, the problem is gone. What would the dealers know! It does not appear to be quite the same problem as yours but many Mitsubishi models were recalled in July. Check online as there are lots of software issues across the range. You may get lucky. EJR, Brisbane.

I haven't had this problem. Mine is a 2 Litre CVT. It isn't overly powerful but has adequate takeoff. I don't use ECO mode. Mine seems to have more pick up at low speeds and is more sluggish once you get above 40 km/h

I have a new ZK 2016 LS still under 1000kms but every morning when I put the car into reverse the revs go up and down pretty violently then stops after 5 seconds. Dealer said could not find anything. Does anyone have a similar problem with the new models doing that? What could it be?

2 answers

Unusual...the only Tung that I can think of is the engin management trying to warm the car especially if you live in a colder climate and have the climate control on to heat the cabin....try this next time ensure climate control is off let the car run for 5 mins then try again...if problem persist take a video of the fail with your phone and present to the dealer (ie video the tachometer fluctuating) try taking a video also if the car was placed in a similar situation but is placed into drive (ie you may need to reverse the car into the guarge then drive strait out) problem could be a thermostat sensor (would be interesting if this problem persists in the warmer months) or a fear sensor when the reverse is selecte ie the engine is spinning up to select the gear. You have your 1500k service comming up utilise the video to support the problem with the dealer...good luck

IJK

Mine has done about the same Ks but haven't had this problem. Mine is a 2 Litre Front Wheel Drive and so far it is very smooth. It seems to warm up very quickly and any initial roughness when cold goes quickly.

Jeff.. Thanks for your question any car over 100k will develope some problems especially once the start getting closer to the 200k mark. In the past with the previously owned Pajero we had a master cylinder fail at 150k cost $700 clutch on manual replaced at 225k cost $1800 I have had fellow owners comment make sure you get the timing chain looked at as mitsubshis when the get older have a habit of throwing the chain apart from the I had no problems until the car was disposed at 300k. The outlanders whilst a smaller 4wd are still based on the Pajero engineering....also just make sure you get the 4wd transmission looked at invade of water infusion from beach work

I just said a tearful goodbye to my 2008 LS due to hitting a roo. 250k on it and it never missed a beat. I just serviced it regularly and had the transmission serviced to ensure it still ticked along before any major problems. The best car ever! However now that I'm looking for a replacement I think I was just fortunate with mine because those that I've driven have had issues. These may have been owners fault for not maintaining the vehicle. Check the service history.
