Just wondering what the towing capacity is.on a 2012 zj L's 2.4 egi would be?

I had the 2.0l manual. But from memory 1250kg braked 750kg unbraked. Also from what I've heard the CVT's don't last long with heavy towing.
Thankyou that's what we figured
I had a look at the sales brochure and it states 1600kg. I had a 2.4lt and that was a struggle. Now have the diesel.
WOW is that better.

I recently purchased a petrol Outlander (Petrol Excell) and am very happy with it. I spend most f my time driving in 2WD ECO, however recently the 2WD eco indicator disappeared ( no idea why) so I took it to local dealer and he said to drive it in 4WD Eco. Do I have a problem with the auto transmission? I read the owner's manual but their is little or no reference to 2WD. When I press the 4WD button on the centre console their is no reference to 2WD. Can you help?

Hi Pete,
I own a diesel powered 2013 outlander which has a different auto gear box to the petrol versions however is similar in the 4WD settings.
My vehicle has 3 x 4WD settings to select. (No actual 2WD setting.)
4WD Auto (2WD until front drive wheels slip then engages the rear wheels. Quite responsive.)
4WD Eco (Same as 4WD Auto but not so much punch/power - I've found that I have to push on the throttle a bit more)
4WD Lock (Constant Power to all 4 wheels but responsive)
Does the car seem to go into 2WD?
Maybe the indictor in the dash isn't engaging.
I had strange things going on for a few hours with my electrics after installing a new entertainment system but did sort itself out.
Sorry I can't put my finger on the problem & I'm interested in what's causing this issue.
Although left hand drive cars I find that the American owners put a lot of comments & videos online regarding the Mitzy Outlander.
I do hope you get some resolution.
Cheers
If you check out the forums that have compared modes for fuel economy the 2wd is a waste of time.

Seeking clarification on the use of the ECO button in outlander 2014 on the dash, can this be used in 2WD? My assumption is after reading the manual that it can be used in 2WD and if the wheels slip it then engages 4WD, but the ECO 4WD mode saves on fuel? I wasn't sure if this should only be used when the 4WD button is selected. Thanks in advance

Hi Tam
I don't profess to be an expert on the Outlander and found the "ECO" button to be more like a sales gimmick. I would think that your nearest Mitsubishi Dealer should have all the answers on their products and should be in a position to explain how this stuff works....
Hi Tam,
Our car is a 2018 and only a 2WD. Sorry, the best people to answer your question are the Mitsubishi dealership service department. Drive safely and enjoy.
Thanks and have a great weekend.

Opinions wanted plz. do I stay with my 2008 outlander which I have had no trouble with or update to the 2012 model?

I have had both petrol and diesel.
Diesel is cheaper to run and quicker especially when towing.

I have just purchased a 2017 zk 7 seater outlander but finding the volume of the Bluetooth hands free phone extremely low. It is very hard to hear the somebody talking on the phone and it is at its highest volume. I have been told by my dealer that this is how they come. Has anyone else experience this problem?

I had the same problem, it appears the speaker for the phone is on the passenger side another stupid design, only way is to put an aftermarket one on drivers side
You can increase the volume of your phone, it might help. In my one it worked like that.
I agree with Rana. Mine is loud enough.

Did you know of or have any problems with Mitsubishi's "Limited Life Warranty" (12 Months from date of first registration or 20,000km). Any component subject to regular servicing
• Glow plugs
• Fuel injectors
• Shock absorbers
• Brake pads or linings
• Cooling and fuel lines or hoses
• Rubber or plastic components

I haven't had any problem with any parts so haven't needed to use any warranty claims.
Car has been bulletproof so far for me, no need for any warranty claim. Service (including a minor recall) has been excellent for me at Northshore Mitsubishi in Ryde.
Hi, Never had an issue with any of the above, But warranties do not cover wearing items such as brake pads, clutches. Shock absorbers are covered should a leak be evident and cooling system leaks are covered under said warranty. Rubber and plastic fittings are subject to age and can be considered wear and tear in some cases

I have a 2013 ZJ diesel auto. Has anyone had theirs shake when it changes 1-2 & 2-3 or shakes when on the over run downhill??

Hi, Sounds like your CVT transmission may need an fluid change but some shudder is not uncommon for this transmission. Take your vehicle to your Mitsubishi dealer and have them do a Scan Tool check and have them change the oil in the transmission this is a simple drain and fill service.
Thanks SandyG but my auto is a standard 6 speed with paddle shift. Each time I get the dealer to look at it (it's just had its final warranty service) they reboot/initialise some/all computer circuits & it runs perfectly for a day/week/month but then starts one of the different shaking symptoms!

can I get gps?

I plug my iPhone into it and run maps through the screen. Car play works great! You can get calls, messages, Spotify all through it
Yes, thank you, is did work fine.
The ZJ has its own dedicated maps which have to be upgraded by Mitsubishi at around $120. No apple car play or android

To check the levels of the battery, I have to remove the front end of the air intake. How do I do this without destroying the retaining 'pins' ?

You can use a volt meter set to 20 volts DC, or go to a car battery shop they will normally check it free.

Hope this helps.
A special tool is readily available but a butter knife on either side of the center plug works

Looking at a 2017 Mistsubishi Outlander, LS, 7 seats. All the specs say it has rear airconditioning, but where are the vents??? I can't see them in any pictures.

Hi. You will find two vent tubes under the 2 front seats on the floor that transfer air to the rear. no actual control vents in the rear. Hope that helps.

Does the 2016 outlander have a timing. Gain or timing belt?

I gave a customer review about my 2012 Outlander which I found to run well, be economical and reliable but could do with air vents in the back. I am not a mechanic and therefore have knowledge about the 2016 Outlander (mine is a different model) and its timing belt. Sorry cant help.
The diesel has a chain.
Timing chain across all engines from 2009

I bought a new mitsubishi outlander 2016 7 seater ZK LS. There is gps but does not work...how to upgrade that or what can i do to hv gps running...?

Best thing to do is take it straight back to the dealer and ask them to fix it.
It only works from a recent Android Phones,( I have Samsung Note 1) too old not compatable with Android Auto, with Bluetooth and Google Maps, and you need to d/l the App 'Android Auto' then it should pair and show on the screen when u select GPS. The GPS knows where we are when we touch GPS on the screen with global positioning, but that's not much help.
