The rear windscreen on my 2011 Outlander shattered for no apparent reason yesterday. Has anyone else experienced a similar situation?
Can't say I've had this happen sorry, did you witness it happen or did you discover it later?
Had used the vehicle about 40 minutes earlier, nothing happened. was like it when I went out to drive it again
Sorry but mine has been fine!
I can't say I've seen something similar happen. But I do my best to park my car away from potential loose objects - I guess stress build up on the windscreen caused by object or something like a stray ball hitting the back windscreen at some point in time can eventually compromise the integrity of any windscreen at any point.
I have a 2014 outlander diesel and just recently I have heard a a noise when I turn the steering sharply to the right anyone hair the Same or know what it is .?
I have no problems at all at this stage. I have just reached Queensland after a 2200 km trip in 2 days and the car ran well. My problem is I got a sore bum and so did my wife so we will try and address thus before heading back to SA.
Cheers!
It is most likely the ball joint though it's best to take the vehicle to a mistsubishi Australia workshop or a qualified mechanical workshop to see if they can help
Has any body had trouble with the abs engine lights on the Outlander MY2010. Mine turn on and off intermittently. The abs won't work when the warning lights are on but othe times it's just fine. Normal non mitsibishishi mechanics think the car is great and the abs wiring is fine so why the warning lights?
Had same prob for 8 yrs. they kept replacing speed sensors. Fail.
Last week though, they agreed to replace the ABC console and so far, it works ok. Done as a warranty job as it was reported over 8 yrs.
Tell your service agent to speak to Mgr at Mitsubishi Service Shop Toowong (Qld) for advice. Very helpful.
Wondering if it might become a recall issue. David
Hi, It's not speed sensors, The vehicle needs a scan tool check that will advise the mechanic what the fault is through the ecu. The ABS will work with fault light on I have tested this in workshop and road conditions so don't be worried the car is not safe. Take car to Mitsubishi and ask for a Scan tool check which costs approx. $80.00 and they will likely find issue in 10 minutes. Good Luck
Why does it clunk when u apply the brakes quickly?
hi lochin, noises in cars are hard to track down they never seem to be where you think they are. if you can only hear the sound when you apply the brakes i would suspect the brake pads may be worn or a pad floating in the caliper. disk brakes are easy to check for noises jack up the wheels in turn, while you are spinning the wheel have someone apply the foot brake you might be able to replicate the clunking sound. if your not successful with your noise tracking i would have a brake man have a look at your car. cheers wilcan
My engine makes a grinding sound when I take my foot off the pedal and grind to a stop
Not quite the same as my problem. My brakes grind when cold and need lots of pumping to get right. The grinding noise is usually at start of a trip.
Strangely, it usually appears when my ABS warning light appears, sometimes before the car moves from the driveway.
They said they would replace the entire ABS module, about a week ago, but no sign of it yet.
hi graham, seems strange that the motor would have a grinding noise but any thing is possible. i would suspect the cvt transmission has a problem if your outlander is fitted with that type. cvt transmissions do produce some odd noises . but back to your car i would have a mitsubishi teck or a good independent garage have a listen. hope you find out what is causing the noise. cheers wilcan
What is a 2009 mitsubishi outlander 2.2 petrol like for towing horse boxes with?
Hi. I honestly don't know as i have no towbar fitted yet. Mine is 3.0ltr Mivec V6
I would'nt tow anything too heavy with it for fear of destroying my gearbox (cvt 6spd)
...however, as a ground rule, a 4x6 trailer loaded level with firewood would probably be the Maximum....
(perhaps a tonne?)
Hope this helps, but i'd recommend to still ask around...
Cheers!
hi, i would not recommend towing that much weight with 2.2 outlander. the type of transmission used cvt are not suited for towing. the diesel 2.2 outlander can tow 2 tonne as it uses a normal type of auto transmission. cheers willcan
Hi, This vehicle is unsuitable as a towing vehicle. You will damage it towing a horse float/
Thinking of buying a 2007 2.0 ltr petrol outlander has 170,000km on the clock is this good for this car? what is the engine life span with regular services> thanks
hi rainbow club, i havent had much to do with the early outlanders. if the motor has a good service history, i would say it is in good condition 170,000 km would be about average for a 2007 model. at 200,000 it would be due for a major service and a timing belt replacement. i would have a mitsubishi expert check the car over for peace of mind. cheers willcan
Timing Belt should have been replaced @ 180,000 k's accordinig to service manual.
I've done 176K and i know it's genuine Mitsubishi, so i'll let it go till 200K
(eg, i've seen Suzuki Vitara timing belts when they are due, and they are not even showing 'cracks')
Also, get a Mivec 3.0ltr v6, they go!, but driven wisely, i have achieved 8.3ltr/100k in 4wd on the highway :)
Cheers!
Mick
What are you thinking of oaying for it
Does the 2010, v6 mitsubishi outlander have drive belt or drive chain?
are you referring to the type of transmission drive known as a cvt transmission. im not sure what type they used belt or chain. i would suggest you google mitsubishi cvt transmission. i have a diesel outlander which uses a normal fluid drive transmission much better for towing.
Also have the rattle noise coming from the interior overhead light console ( 2013 LS Outlander)
Can anyone help with how to remove console cover and identify / fix this annoying issue?
Tks
hello brian, mitsubishi have a fix for the rattleing noise you and others have coming from the light console is caused by the wiring harness behind the lights. ive read the fix is very simple. the hardest part is uncliping the light molding. i would use a small screw driver and gently pries out the moulding then pack some foam around the wires or use tie clips to stop the wires moving around. hope this helps.
Hi Willcan.
Tks for fix help.. have stuffed the wire cavity with combo of cotton dressing ( non flamable) and a chucks wipe... will see how it goes... took me ~2mts to identify exactily where this noise was coming from in the first place.
Hi Willican and Brian,
Was that sound coming from the map light/ front cabin light? If so I have the same problem. When I push the light upward the sound is gone. Can you please suggest how did you fix it?
Thanks
Never really solved the problem ... anyway traded in the outlander 2 yrs ago so prob transferred... but since then the auto landscape has dramatically changed for the worse so the overhead rattle prob. Is now small beer in the scheme of things
Hi, I have the 06 Outlander, and my breaks squeal in reverse. Last time I had it serviced, I asked them to check my breaks and they said they were fine. Anyone else have the same problem?
hi tania, im not really familiar with the 06 model, is it fitted with disk or drum brakes on the rear, couple of reasons for the squeal in reverse and or forward one would be brake dust or a small stone cough between the disk rotor and the backing plate. some disk pads have a built in squeal producer to let you know the pads are worn to there limit. suggest you hose the brakes from behind if your able to. this may flush out the build up of dust if you do this remember your brakes will not be fully affective untill they dry out. if the noise persists i would pay a visit to a brake specialist hope this helps
No audio from MY09 Fosgate system. No audio from DVD, CD or radio even with volume at max. Can be gone for months then appear back while driving for a while until car is turned off.
Doesn't appear to be a loose wiring issue. Anyone know what type of model Fosgate it uses?
hi inxs, my 2014 ls version does not have the bass speaker in the rear. what model is yours . i dont think the lesser models use the fosgate system did your car come with a separate booklet for the sound system may be some info in there. you may have to visit a good sound installer.for a fix.
Yes mine has the bass speaker system in the rear as well. Sent Fosgate an email asking about the model and they say its a Mitsubishi Electric model. Whys it got the Fosgate name plastered on the dashboard then. Really strange fault, basically no audio at all for over 6 months and maybe once or twice audio will come on while driving along.
Display is ok, audio shows level etc all fine. Had a mechanic check for loose wires, but no luck. Maybe a dry solder joint but haven't got around to looking inside the unit yet.
Think the Amp is under the driver seat so might have a look at that as well.
I purchased a 2014 MY14.5 Mitsubishi outlander aspire diesel several months ago and absolutely love the car. In the past 2 weeks out boot has automatically opened in our garage into the closed garage door without prompting by the remote or boot release in the car. Has anyone else had this issue?
What maybe hapeening is that another remote is set to same as the boot usually the auto garage door opener or like me you could have an alarm in the garage so i had to make sure the frequency was different for each close the door and see what happens then open the garage door or set the alarm etc
Is there any adjustments for steering on 2014 outlander?
I am looking at buying a outlander MY14.5. 2.0 motor. The motor in it sounds like a diesel when cold, tappet noise. Car salesman said that these motors sound like this when cold. It did sound much better when warmed up. This was a new car that I test drove with a 2.0 smart mivec engine. Should i be concerned. Any feedback would be appreciated.
Hello Jason, I have only had this car for a month now but i definitely know that noise you are talking about. it seems normal to me. hasn't been anything of concern so far...
However, one advise to you - if you want power, then go for the 2.4 litre version...the 2.0L version definitely struggles a bit for power with heavy loads or when climbing hills...but if you going for fuel consumption, then 2.0L is definitely your best choice...
my 2.4L is very noisy and rough when it is cold. Sometimes I think it is going to stall. Even after it is warm at low speeds <=50 km/h I can here the tapping/ticking noise in the engine
I have an 09 Kia Carnival and I use the tapping noise as a guide to when it needs a service. When I first get it serviced that tapping/diesel noise disappears and then returns and get louder. My mechanic told me that it's the dirty oil trying to get thru (I am simplifying things coz I didn't really have much technical knowledge) basic fix is to use a good quality oil, not a basic one...for my car anyway.
Hi, there are 53 Good reviews and 5 not good. I am looking to buy a new SUV, I have put Mitsubishi Outlander on my shortlist. As I browse through choices of SUV every brand and make has good and bad reviews. Makes it a task to then filter the data to make a choice. However can anyone who has the 2013 or 14 ES or LS model Outlander, give me a feedback on the Air conditioner performance cool or cold!!!!! and how does this affect the average of the Outlander. I had long back used a loaned car of my friend a Mitsubishi Lancer, it ran beautifully and gave me a good run, but turn on the a/c and you would have the coolest ride, but alas you could see the fuel meter dropping before your very own eyes on the same run. Any feed back on the Outlander would be greatly appreciated.
Easy answer...I found the Aircon fine...travelled 500K in 30+ temps....kids in the back said it was fine...the Mitsubishi aircon has solid performance...kept us all cool without feeling chilly.. couldn't see much affect on the Fuel consumption..it was fine...stayed in the low 6's all the way from Queensland to Newcastle.
Air con really good
Climate control air con on our 2013 LS diesel Outlander is great. It has dual controls and temperature can be manually adjusted up or down to suit your requirements. It can be used on Auto, and you can still adjust the temperature up or down to suit driver and passenger. We drove from the Yarra Valley, inland via Tocumwal, Narrandera, West Wyalong, Forbes, Parkes,Orange & Bathurst to Sydney and still had great fuel consumption while using the air con. We filled up at Parkes and still had half a tank of fuel when we arrived home.
A/c works fine on my 2013 outlander, only downside is there is no vent for rear passengers but the front vents are good enough to cool the whole car. Fuel consumption goes up only by 1-2 liters/100km. Hope this helps.
i find the air con in my ls very good just been to western qld in 40 degree heat i set it for 23 it does the rest. but if anyone thinks their air con is not up to scratch it may be set in the economy mode which lessens the out put for greater economy. i find that there is not much difference in the economy between the two settings but a.vast difference in the air con output. i use the cruise control and the economy mode except in heavy traffic.
Hi Frank.
I leave my a/c on all the time, and it gets nice and cold.
I also drive in 4wd (awd) all the time too because it handles much better :)
3.0 ltr V6 Mivec and does 8.3ltr/100k's driven at around 95kph in cruise mode!
Hope that halps ya...
Mick
Looking at buying a 2010 OUTLANDER activ but worried after test driving one that it may be a fuel guzler??? The car i drove had 3/4 of a tank and its range to the fuel bowzer was comming up only 310-320km to go?
Does anyone know if they are bad on fuel???
it is a little bit more thirsty compared to other SUVs in this segment. Mx5 is a lot more efficient, but its 4WD is average. My 2011 FWD LS uses around 10L/100KM. But if you drive all highway it will drop to about 8L/100KM.
hi, is there a mitsubishi lander that is 2000cc, 7 seater and diesel engine? and if yes how many kilometers does a litre do?
We have the Outlander 7 seater diesel. On long country trips we used 5.7 litres of diesel per 100km. Arount town & country about 6.2. Town ONLY 7.1 litres per 100KM
I bought a 2003 Outlander LS 4er wagon semi auto about 12 months ago, I love the car, the room the lovely ride the peace and quite inside, but the fuel consumption is killing me, currently getting 370ks per tank, is there anything I should be getting checked?
I sold my heap of rubbish
How to fold the side mirror on vrx 2010? I always do manually.
VRX is the previous model...On the current model it is a manual operation
I have given up getting my problem resolved. I have sold the worst car I have ever owned. Due to this and complete lack of any customer concern...I will never purchase another Mitsubishi
