I have the 760-7779 series 13 1/2 hp riding mower. Cold it starts fine, hot it hesitates like a bad solenoid. The solenoid is brand new. Does the starter double as a generator? Or could it be a flat spot on the armature? Air filter and oil are fine.

Are the headlights auto.(Dark sensitive)?
I don't know where the headlight switch is, if this is not the case.

when i engage the blades in reverse the motor starts shuddering like it is missing.i have a mtd 42inch cut model no 13an775s306.it runs in reverse ok its only when i turn the key back half way and push the button.its only when i engage the blades.
