New Age Wallaby

Has anyone had any problems with a shower not draining. We took possession of our Wallaby on Aug 1st 2022 and used the shower during the initial 2 day trial at a camping ground. It drained well via a hose. Then we had a problem with water leaking as we travelled with the rose on the shower floor so took it back to NA Gold Coast who said a valve/unit had been incorrectly installed in reverse so they 'fixed' it. When we tried it again about 3 months later (we had been using showers in camping grounds for our trips) the shower did not drain.
Have been told to refer the matter to NA Victoria as they built it, but not having much success in trying to get it fixed. Very disappointing as it is a new van and shouldn't have this issue.

Hi Liz,
We never had any problems with the shower draining. If the van is equipped with a waste tank you must make sure that the tank breather on top of the tank is not blocked or it will develop an air lock when the waste valve is shut. If the water is not draining at all and stays in the shower recess I can only assume that the shower drain is physically blocked up.
Not having much success from NA Caravans? Well, that is not new, we have had extremely poor service from NA Melbourne from the day we purchased our Wallaby in January 2017 as it has taken near three years to solve some of the issues of many that we endured. We ended up fixing a number of things our selves. It cost us two years that we have been unable to use our van to travel to the north of Australia during the cold Victoria winters and no offers of any compensation have been forthcoming. The van was designed well, poorly built, after sales service does not exist!

Correct caravan cover size

Hi Harry,
Caravan covers are generally available in small, medium and large sizes.
We bought a MEDIUM size cover. Our decision was based on the information we received from the supplier of this cover.
We actually have never used the cover because our caravan has been with New Age Caravans Melbourne for most of the year 2022 to carry out essential repairs under warranty and a long list of failures caused by poor design and manufacturing practices. On top of that, the repairs carried out by New Age Melbourne caused several other failures therefor we were unable to use our caravan for the entire year of 2022. New Age Caravans Melbourne never acknowledged any responsibility for any of this and have made no efforts to compensate us.

Hi Wayne,
Not sure that I get the meaning of your question.
Do you mean the capacity of the water tanks? Our Wallaby is fitted with one 80 liter tank and one 60 liter tank. Combined capacity is 140 liters. We also have a waste tank of 60 liters.

New Age Wallaby

After three years of use, and no real problems with our Wallaby 16E, the battery appears to have died. I have found that it appears to be almost impossible to remove the battery from under the seat because the battery cover is jammed by the seat frame. Are there any suggestions on how to remove the battery so I can have it checked and, if necessary, replace it?

I also found that the space under the seat frame is very limited. We have an "L" shaped seat. T create more storage space we moved the battery to the far rear corner of the under seat space and secured it with a two pieces of aluminium angle screwed to the floor.
If I recall correctly, the original mounting of it has a retainer screwed to the floor to prevent it from sliding about. You will need to undo the screws that retains battery box so you can slide the battery box into a position that will allow you to remove the cover. The cables in our van are long enough to move the battery box into the required position so you can access the terminals.
It is not unusual that a battery fails after about three years. If our van is stored under cover we hook it up to a small charger to keep fully functional. When it is outdoors the solar panel will keep it fully charged. To get the best life out of the battery you will have to make sure that it is kept fully charged. If for some reason it has been discharged it needs to be fully recharged soon or it will suffer.
Hope this has helped a little.
Just for your information, our caravan is still at the New Age dealer, we have not seen it since January this year. It appears that the manufacturers are not cooperating with the dealer. They have left us stranded again for this years northern dry travel season.

Thanks for the advice. We have the facing seats at the dinette so the space is even more limited. I will try your suggestion though and appreciate it. I am very disturbed by your experience with New Age. We bought our van on their reputation for their pride in their product. Have you contacted New Age direct? We have found that the local dealers are often the problem, not the solution. I wish you well with your van and hope that you will soon get to enjoy it as much as we do ours.
