Apart from the repairs carried out, I would have to say that the X Trail performs better than expected. Goes well in sand but remember to deflate your tyres to 12-15PSI and dont fight the steering when you are in deep ruts. "Auto" four wheel drive kicks in when required so need for 4X4 selection on the sand unless you are climbing steep slopes.
Easy to drive. Quick off the mark and capable off-roader.
Had the driveshaft seal replaced @ 12000km. Nissan said it was a common problem with the 06/07 ST S. Also had the rear stabiliser bar snap @ 14,000km. Both repairs covered under new car warantee.

Wouldn't want anything better for all the things you want is all in one design, Nothing more nothing less, all the nessecaries, no problems what so ever.
Good brand means good quality as this car is represented. Easy handling on and off road, doen't drink as much fuel as the other vehicles, Smooth and easy ride good in tight and narrow areas, strong and powerful, suitalbe for a 4 wheel drive, with so much power. Hard to find somthing this good, but it's Nissan a Japanese company producing high quality performance for all users. Interior has all the features people would want and a wonderful range.

The X-trail is an overall nice drive (I love my car) and although I do have the flash version with leather seats and all the mod cons such as sun roof and 6 stack CD player, it's the basics that Nissan have done well on the X-trail. It automatically flicks itself into 4WD if it thinks you need it and handles well on the road, with nice light steering.
Light steering, higher off the road and a good looking car
I cant think of anything

This is a great car, chaep yet reliable. You are going to find something that you don't ike about every car, and it's going to be different per car with different people. I have a manual trans. It seems to be the way to go as the Auto seems to over heat the oil in the 4x4 system. Never read some one complain about manual over heating. It's a great car that can do more then you would think it can. I have put it to some tests with a Full 4x4 standing by, but never needed it. I use to ofroad jeeps, so i really tested it

I am very impressed with the car and would recommend them to others. I have had no problems and I have had mine for a little over 2 years now. Good car, good value.
Good price, to drive, good features, well designed
air con isn't super powerful

Sensational 'car', loads of room and standard features that you would have to pay extra on in comparative models, such as the Rav4.
Best value for money on the market. Love the 2.5ltr 4 cyl engine ... pay 4cyl rego, yet get the performance of some small 6's. Used it on soft sand and it performed faultlessly.
Gearbox is not the best, had no actual problems with it, but just a bit clunky. Even my dad's small-truck-like '92 diesel Landcruiser 75 series box feels better. Had poor service from Cleveland Nissan (after I'd signed up of course) so be sure to put in a penalty clause to encourage them to stick to delivery date.

Nice car, would buy again, great to be able to fit everything in without issues. had to install cargo barrier for safety with dogs.
chilled cup holders, easy to drive, more like a elevated car than a 4wd, great space, good value considering cost, flat folding back seats.
slippery boot that every time a corner is turned the dogs slide, cup holders only hold cans, cabin noisey, quite boxey.

I love my X-Trail( I'm female), its easy to drive, doesn't use too much petrol and it's not to gigantic! The material on the seats looks cheap and shows up marks easily! The flat folding rear seats are excellent, though its very slippery, cargo lilterally flys every where. I would definatley recommend a boot liner! Overall an excellent vehicle if you want a small 4WD! I would by another one tomorrow( though I would probably get the TI more extras)
Roomy small 4WD! Easy for ladies to drive!
Slippery boot, everything falls over! Apholstery material looks cheap!

The Nissan Xtrail is a great little 4WD. It is small enough for city driving, without the hassle of finding a parking spot that you may have for the larger 4WD. It has ample room inside and both the cloth and plastics look and feel well put together. My biggest gripe is that the speedo is located in the centre console, which is a litle awkard if youre not used to it. Offroad it is very capable having a powerfull 2.5 litre engine and a true 4x4 mode. It will tackle even the real rough stuff that mot other soft roaders wont. From the outside it looks good, infact a little macho, with a good list of colors to choose from.
Very reliable & rugged 4wd.
True offroader capability.
The speedo is located in the centre console.

Excellent all round 4wd. No complaints.
X-Trail Ti: Great fuel economy, quiet, and roomy roomy roomy.Excellent cargo space and great dash layout. Stereo also rocks. Sunroof is massive! Aircon works a treat and is quiet too.
Understeer is present but is common on 4wd's. Interior can scratch easily. Factory tyres are really only on-road tyres. Provide no drip in snow. Had too get towed out of car spot at Hotham!

Tows the trailer well. Bought the car because I live on top of a hill and it is proving to be a big plus.
Comfortable car to drive and neat. Good economy. Runs well on highway as well as dirt.

After trading in my old Pathfinder, I am extremely impressed with the power of the little 2.5 Ltr and how well the car handles. Nissan have done a really good job with this car in every aspect. I have only had it for 3 days and I am looking forward to putting more kms on it.
Fuel Economy is fantastic, ride is superb and I am glad I went for the manual over the Auto.
Nothing as yet

I have a 2002 Nissan xtrail It has blown the Head gasket. I have spent a lot of money of late repairing the suspension, new tyres brakes and rotars front and back. I have also had the motor reconditioned once before. Do I get the head gasket repaired or do I get a motor from the wreckers for around $900 to install will cost me approximately $1600
