We own an petrol, automatic 2006 Nissan X trail ST-S. We purchased it second-hand 2years ago. It has been a very reliable car and It is very cost-effective to fix. It is quite a good family car. We have 3 children under 4 and we can fit all their cars eats across the back seat. The boot size is great but it does require a carpet boot mat as the plastic base is very slippery. My 2003 Ti Luxury X-Trail has been the best car i have ever owned and driven. I usually buy another car every 1.5-2 years however I held onto my X-Trail for over 3 years and only sold it as it had nearly reached 200,000kms. If the kms where lower I'd still be driving it. Not only did I enjoy driving this car it has been the most reliable and practical car and is also the perfect size and not to big for city car parking. We have an '03 model, and have never had any mechanical problems with it whatsoever. We recommend x-trails without fault, and will be looking at upgrading to a newer model when this one gets a little older.
We absolutely love our x-trail, it has loads of space for our prams/pets etc, and the removeable tough-deck panels in the boot are so easy to hose off to clean. Would recommend it to anyone that is looking for a great car reliable, fuel efficient and comfortable. In fact I have wrapped it up so much that my daughter and son-in-law have brought one also(2004 model) they love it too. I test drove just about every SUV on the market, and this X-Trail is far ahead of the rest. One contributor here, mentions the tyre squeal ( wheel spin )on take off at the lights. This can be eliminated by leaving the AWD selector in "Auto", or just selecting Auto on take off, then switching back to 2WD if desired. Also, don't scrimp on fuel type. Use 98 Octane, and you will get better economy and cleaner running.

A versitile go anywhere do anything family car not pretending to be a luxury soft roader. Probably would buy another one but there are too many alternatives atm in the 35k - 45k price bracket. Nissan dealership at Liverpool service department is pathetic do not use them for scheduled services,they play stupid to warranty claims and are not very helpful. I used a local mechanic for 10000km service with Nissan Oil/Filter plus tyre rotation and balance and as per log book, it cost me only $120 with better service and attention to detail.

Had a 2004 X-Trail 2.5 for 5 years. No issues whatsoever during the entire life of the car. We traveled almost 130,000km in that time with no issues whatsoever. The petrol engine was slightly thirsty but we didn't travel huge km's so not really a problem.We loved the dynamics and interior space of the car and decided after a short break to get another. My Ti X-trail has been trouble free until 3 weeks ago, when it started to jolt starting off in low gear or slowing down in low gear. Took it to my Nissan dealer, who had to remove the transmission and rebuild because a condenser failed.The car whilst being a 2004 model has only just exceeded the 100,000K warranty. Bought 2nd hand in '09 with 120000 country ks from a dealer. Had looked hard at Honda CRV and RAV 4 but liked the space, power and ride of the Nissan. Yeah yeah i love this car- great for my family of 5 + a dog. We are starting to go on more adventures and are able to transport large items easily.
Everything!! I love this car, it is a great family car, heaps of boot space compared to forrester and outlander. When middle seats come down you have heaps of room. I really like our 'Exy'. Comfortable, roomy, high driving position make for great driving. Had issues with transmission seals at 12 months and 48 months which were dealt with under New Car & Genuine Extended Warranty without any problems. First time it actually required a new auto transmission cause they couldn't stop the oil leaking for some reason with simply replacing the seals. Second fix it was just the seals that needed replacing. Tyres that came with car new wore out quite quickly and when replaced with Pirelli Scorpions have no issues. ...Read more
