Fantastic family car
Great family car - very roomy. We purchased the Standard 7 seat version. The 3rd row is definitely designed for small kids as an occasional seat. Not a lot of leg room or boot space once 7 seats are in play...but has come in handy plenty of times. Reverse camera is new to me and something i now couldn't go without. I do wish they included the reversing "beeping alarm"with the camera. It's a bit hard to judge the distance to objects on the screen. Very happy with the car though and an affordable 7 seater

Economical
Car has proven very reliable
Low servicing costs through nissan and being a diesel is extremely economical returning figures of 4litrrs per kilometre on long runs. Seat 4 adults comfortably with various storage options plus chilled cup holders!! With having a small engine it certainly doesnt lack power when it s needed

Love love love it!
We upgraded from a 2013 pulsar - the x-trail 4WD handles fantasticly, is so spacious and comfortable to drive, I can do a 350km on the highway and only use quarter of a tank of fuel. I am so impressed, wish I had have bought the top of the range is my only regret.

Good Value 7 Seater
We bought a ST 7 seater as our first ever new car. Have had the Blu Tooth Stereo replaced under warranty because it stopped being able to connect to a phone. The functionality of the rear 2 seats of the 7 Seats that fold down when you dont need them is great. The CVT transmission works well although we are looking to sell shortly so long time reliability should not be an issue. A great looking car with great seats. I like Nissans fixed price service. Very comfortable on long trips. Update. We ended up selling privately this year as soon as the Warranty ran out. We lost $11000 in 3 years and 2months but due to the great Nissan 1 % finance offer we did well having never spent on Repairs or Tyres.

Great car
Great car with plenty of room. Not a lot of get up & go but considering it is a 4 cyLinder. I can't expect too much. Boot space is great. Stereo could be better, it's not very loud. Fuel consumption is great. Comfy seats. Drives well, handles well. It's a great car.

Good car but had a lot of recent technical issues
We have a TL diesel with the 1.6l Diesel engine and found it a great car at the start with really good fuel economy. But then we started noticing the revs rapidly jumping and after it was investigated, a new transmission had to be installed. After less than 10,000kms the new transmission started doing the same but this time they have simply updated software. It seems to have worked for the moment, but now there's a high pitch whining sound coming from the engine / transmission area.
Just wondering if anyone else has had similar issues as the new version of the TL now has the old 2.0l diesel so wondering if there is a known issue?

VERY HAPPY WITH MY 2015 T32 X-TRAIL
I've owned 2 previous X-Trails - 2005 T30 and 2009 T31. I now own a 2015 T32, Ti model, auto/petrol, and I'm very happy with it. I bought it new, and it now has 38,000kms on the speedo. As with any cars, it does have a few negatives, but overall, I'm more than happy with it.
Here are a few things that I've found; I like the modern look of it. I find it is more responsive and has more power than the T31. Petrol consumption (I use "proper" 95 octane petrol), is very good on trips. Only filled up today having been Sydney/Newcastle return and Sy...Read more
dney/Blue Mountains return - trip meter showed 550kms with 317kms to go before empty i.e. a good 850kms on this tank (2 passengers and no load) Some more positives are; the "blind spot" warning, "birdseye" camera view; rear leg room and rear passenger doors opening right up; automatic door open/close function; in built "sav nav" - easy to work but must admit some times takes the long way; enjoyable to drive especially country trips; safety driving lights. Some negatives are; a little noisy under acceleration; high side mirrors which are nearly eye level; and that with thick side pillar does block a driver's view a little; wagon space is okay, but why designers removed the wagon drawer storage compartment (found in T31), I and other owners have no idea. Some in between comments; the foot/hand brake isn't a problem for me or the wife - it didn't take long to get used to; push button ignition - its beside the power button of the radio, and one can press the radio power button instead of the ignition button as I did once whilst getting fuel. I thought I'd turn off the engine but had pressed the radio button, and filled up the car with engine still running (yes, it idles that quietly) - high beam is good, but I don't like low beam on country roads - it has a defined line of illuminated area/pitch black area limiting view to about 20ms(?), which is not apparent when there are street lights.Similar opinion? A LOVE AFFAIR
Oh!, you can read all of the comparison reviews, but I just love my 2016 Nissan X Trail. Many years ago I bought a new Nissan Patrol for our farm which suffered a very hard life of me being a builder, a farmer, and a family with three kids.
That car, my wife loved, because she felt safe in it. My eldest son, now 44, borrowed it to transport year 12's to a country inter school sports day, and put it, slowly, on it's roof!
But some 250,000 km later it still purred.
Now I have the same made in Japan, quality. Not a rattle and just the perfect...Read more

Best car for fuel efficiency and family
This is one of the best cars I have had since I got my licence.
It is comfortable, it drives very smoothly even though it's a diesel, can't hear the diesel engine and also is the most fuel efficient car I have had.
You will find this is one of the best family cars out there and one of the most safe.
Eco Mode as well. Power door mirrors with LED turn indicators. Automatic headlights,Bluetooth® hands-free
phone system, Intelligent Key® with push button engine start.
Rearview camera with predictive path technology.

In love with my xtrail
Got my xtrail in February and I have never looked back, it's stylish, economical, great for families & couples alike, love how the day time lights are on, gives the car a great look, the foot brake and the keyless ignition took a bit of getting use to, but like anything after a month or so you get use to these quirks!

Great buy
As title says it all, we purchased the 4 wheel option as we are driving approx 75 kms per day in a hilly area. The fuel economy is dead on 8.3l to the 100 kms as per manufactures claim for this and urban use. After the BMW X1 we traded this car is a revelation. It is roomy and so comfortable with excellent road handling. Again at this stage very happy with our 50th vehicle. Probably in the top 5. Have done 5173 kms.

Great family car
Fantastic family car, kids have way more leg room for our long trips to visit family. I am still learning about the car as I haven't had it very long. So far really happy with purchase. Its a lot cheaper to fill up than my husbands car. Quiet on the road and I love the blind spot sensors and the reversing cameras a fantastic for parking

Perfect car for our family
The interior of the car is exquisite. Very luxurious with the black leather settings, along with a big screen for gps and music. Very easy to connect phones via bluetooth and music is played without any lags or buffers. However I think the engine is a bit noisy and the driving wheel is too light to handle.

Great car
Has good power and heaps of room. The backseat is on rails and can be moved either forward or to the rear which gives more leg room or more storage room in the boot. Its a FWD so when you put your foot down it fish tails a bit but its not that bad.
I wish Nissan would add more features to the ST like a better radio and privacy glass on the rear as standard. If I was to buy the car again I would get the ST-L which has everything.

Good but not smooth
I have had this car for a year now. Inside is roomy, everything in your reach and good quality. It is quick and string enough to take you around. However if you are fan of smooth SUV this is not your car. It is a bit sniff and perfect for off road.

Great all rounder
We found our experience with this car in first 12 months to be much better than described by Car magazines. Very practical car and the "Round View" is a god send for parking. It is not as zippy as some other larger cars with bigger engines but has always had enough power to get out of trouble, overtake, hill climb etc.

I have just started to get water in the well under the driver's seat when it rains and it doesn't appear to be coming from the door. Any ideas?

Thats an oddy mate. Is carpet wet all the way to the pedals area? It could be coming from the dash area or firewall if it is. Have you felt up and around the accelerator and brake pedal, under and around the firewall area if anything is wet. Thats the first port of call for water entry.

My AC was not cycling so I changed my AC thermostat and it's still not cycling off its running continuously. Why? Does it have a electrical AC box controlling the thermostat?

common problem with AC in all the later model xtrails they all had AC problems dont know if Nissan actually did anything about it.

Anyone had any issues with a squeak in the front wheels? Or anything wrong with aircon. Mine is out of warranty and now the air con not working! Any ideas?

No squeak but my air con has been poor since day one. Had unit checked at the workshop and no issues - just always struggles to cool in higher heat.
what year is it?? any Xtrails after 2014 are problems the earlier models are better. The squeak in the front wheels is the ball joints or sway bar bushes common problem with the later model Xtrails same as the air conditioner another common problem with later model xtrails Nissan knows about it but says there is not an issue.
common problem with the compressor in the later model xtrails
