Great SUV with lot of features
I have this car since 2016 October and I use to commute to work and long distance trips. My car is standard (ST) and still has lot more features such as reversing camera, key less entry, greate trip computer similar to high end cars. Before I bought this car I drove several car and I noticed that power steering in this car is really precise and smooth. It's also comes with 7 seater which can be used for kids occasionally ( child seat cannot be installed in last 2 seats). I love the button on front door handles, so you don't have to press car key...Read more
button to lock the car all the time. Only draw back I see in this car is it takes little longer to come to the speed ( in comparison to my pervious V6 car). Cruise control is very precise and it shows the speed you setup in the trip computer. I haven't used this for rough terrain so I don't know the performance of it. However it is a great car for your daily used. great fuel conceptions when you do long trips. Reversing camera is really clear even at nightsSimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

All my friends get jealous how good it is
Though I didn't try the old x trail, the new one got me right the first day. The stl model 7 seats got me to all occasions from moving house, family get away, and tricky parking( thanks to the 360 camera),the car just got smooth acceleration when comparing to those hire cars I have driven, light steering. No doubt it is 2017 best suv of the world

Waste of money, this is not a Japanese Quality
I bought one brand new from official dealer in Adelaide in June 2016.
The car has started making extra noise just after 2 days, I took it to several official nissan service centers especially several times to main north nissan in Adelaide, this issue is still annoys me and making extra noise like trucks. The most weird answer was this is a characteristic of nissan that means they know this car makes a lot of extra noise due to low quality material and factory quality control.

Rugged luxury (4WD model)
After a fair bit of research, I decided to get a 3 year old secondhand X-trail with about 60,000km on the clock. My favourite feature of the ST-L is the surround 360 degree camera. I upgraded from a small sedan to the X-trail so parking was my biggest hurdle. The camera had made me more confident in tight spaces. But it doesn’t seem to have fantastic fuel efficiency as I use half a tank on about 250km (200km highway Brisbane to Toowoomba return) which is about 40L - double my small sedan would use for the same trip. It’s rugged enough for the soft off road through soft clay that I’ve gone through in it, but the modern design and leather interior add a bit of luxury. Absolutely love my new car.

Great little family ferry - 7 seater, leather and enough bells and whistles to keep you entertained
We purchased this car second hand (2014) model around 6 months ago from the original owners.
It had approximately 65000kms on the clock and was serviced regularly by Nissan during that time.
One thing I highly recommend to everyone looking at ANY car, is make sure it has a full service history, it does not matter how new, it is worth it.
It is worth noting that we purchased this car for my wife, we have 4 children and had until recently had a Nissan Elgrand wagon. It was an 8 seater with so much room you could literally fit a bed in it,...Read more
in fact the rear seats all folded down into a bed and could also be rearranged into a dining table with seating... honestly, best family car ever. Having such a massive car for 8+ years had its downside. It was massive and my wife was a little sick of driving such a large vehicle around. So we decided to downsize and the X-Trail seemed to fit the bill perfectly with its 7 seats. It ticked all the boxes. It was newer (Elgrand was a 1999) - tick, it was smaller - tick, it had leather - tick, it was smooth to drive - tick, it had 7 seats - tick.... you get the idea. The car looked practically brand new it had been looked after that well, with the only flaw being the rear bumper had been resprayed and wasn't quite the perfect match.Similar opinion? Solid, easy driving family SUV
Faithful, reliable, enjoyable, comfortable, looks decent.
Interior is a little bland and car is not engaging to drive due to the CVT however would happily purchase again as a family SUV. Around view monitor is life changingly good. No mechanical issues since purchase. probably would go the 4wd next time.

Love my xtrail!
I had a Qashqai whe we had one child and upgraded to the larger xtrail when we were expecting baby 2. We got the 4WD xtrail as I wanted the extra stability and glad I did. The xtrail drives more like an SUV than the Qashqai, which feels like a sedan. The xtrail has longer and more flexible boot space, but it isn’t as wide. I now have to fold my pram foot rest down where I didn’t in the Qashqai. Plenty of room in the back seat to keep to kiddies rear facing for longer, and the back seats move so I can make the boot bigger or the back seat leg room bigger. Lovely to drive and has plenty of “extra” features/options for your money compared to other makes of vehicle.

Good car except for problematic transmission
I have travelled 60 000ks in this vehicle and it is a comfortable drive. The cvt takes a while to get used to and is very smooth. Unfortunately it isnt particularly responsive at low speed and lacks zip when negotiating traffic. Mid range speed pick up i find to be ok. At 55000ks this developed a whine. Nissan dealer inspected and subsequently replaced transmission under warranty. There is much information available on line regarding the questionable reliability of nissan cvts. There is obviously an ongoing unresolved issue with them. The nis...Read more
san mechanic said to me "this isnt the usual noise they are brought back for". The motor revs pretty loudly when pushed but doesnt bother me.The car performs at its best when just cruising. Im averaging 7.5 lt per 100ks which is pretty good for a medium size SUV. The brakes are on the soft side which my mechanic remedied by removing some packers. The surround view camera is awesome and makes parking and reversing accurately really easy. There is plenty of room for back seat passengers. Has alot of really good features for the price but the vehicle is let down by underperforming, unreliable transmission. Wouldnt recommend.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
Nice Family car
Has this car for almost 1.5 years now and the overall driving experience is great. It is a great car for family with young children. The engine is powerful enough for everyday driving around, handling is great and the fuel consumption is average.Plenty of space in the back to carry things around.

Great family car
This is the first car I brought brand new and it was well worth it.
I haven't had a single problem in 3 years, all services were reasonably priced and dealership was always nice.
I would gladly buy another Nissan, unless they can make a big camry that is just as well built as the 2001 model.

Good family car
Drives smooth and decent amount of power, little road noise. Interior is a bit on the cheap side compared to similar classed vehicles such as the Hyundai. Get roughly 600km from a tank around the $75 mark to fill. Overall great family car for long trips lots of room for the kids, boot room little on the small side for SUV.

2017 xtrail
Prior to having our first bub in 2017 we wanted an suv. We were tossing up between the rav 4 or x-trail - new models. What made us go with the xtrail over the rav was the rear aircon vents and little extras including a digital speedo, leather seats, drink cooler vents and seat warmers. The xtrail was a tad cheaper than the rav and very happy with the car overall.

Great car for family
We had this car for almost 2.5 years now and the overall driving experience is great. It is a great car for family with young children. The engine is powerful enough for everyday driving around, handling is great and the fuel consumption is average. In the interior, it has a lot of legs room for the front and back row. The doors open very wide thus easy for putting toddler onto a car seat. The trunk is relatively large for its class, can easily place a dual pram with grocery shopping at the back.

My X- trail saved me
I had a car accident in December 2017 . I believe because of the high safety standards in X trail I survived. There is no option here to attach a written off car but I believe I was lucky to have x-trail 2015. Airbags protect me straight away. Love Nissan

Transmision problem, unreliable car
Worst car ever. I purchased a brand new x-trail 2016 and after a couple of months, the CVT transmission failed in the middle of driving reducing my speed from 100km to 10 in few seconds in highway which caused a near accident as it kicked the engine. It was towed to the dealer and was fixed after one month the pump oil got a problem and was sent to be fixed again. after another couple of months, the transmission failed again and the same story while driving. This is when the car has not done even 10,000km yet. (let alone the engine oil pump, tw...Read more
ice transmission failure in less than 10,000km!!) It is not reliable at all. You can not be sure that these sudden failures don't cause an accident and putting yourself or someone in danger. I contacted Nissan company to ask them to cancel the deal and take their lemon car back or replace it with a new car with none of these issues and they refused it. No matter how much I explained and how genuine the issue is but I got nowhere with them. They made me very upset.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Best car I’ve ever owned!
Out of all the cars I’ve ever had the xtrail has been the best!!! Fuel efficent, spacious, comfortable.. has lovely leather seats and seat warmers! The digital radio is amazing and having the 7 seater model has been great!!! The only thing I can say that could use some improvement is the cost the dealerships charge to service but I go to them over independent mechanics to ensure my warranty is in tact!

Vibration Coming through drive line while accelerating and in idle
I bought my Nissan X-trail st-l t32 fwd brand new in 2016 December. From the day one, I felt this vibration coming through the drive train and while idling. Feels more when the a/c is on. When I took it for the 1000 km service I reported the matter in writing and was informed this will go away by the time I bring the car for the 10,000km service. Now it has done 8700 km's the vibration is still there. Today I booked it for the service since it is approaching the one year service and informed the service department about my concerns and they str...Read more
aight away said it cannot be. Let's see the fun when the car goes to the service. This is a persistent problem with this model. No recall to fix the problem by Nissan. Buyers are cheated by not informing about this type of flaws.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

STL-7 seater Mama with three boys
I bought this car not trying on my baby car seats as I needed three of them but turns out they can all fit ! There’s three anchor points in the back with the middle seat anchor point in the roof. Third row has 2 seats good size for children up to 10. The middle row can move forward so there’s leg room. The seats can all lay down and make a huge boot space big enough to transfer baby cot and change table or single big and mattress. Which I have done btw. The front passenger seat does not fully go down but goes down enough. My only complaint is t...Read more
hat it’s not as good with blocking out noise. Compared to my older car or hubbys car I can hear a lot of white noise when driving in my car and that’s something that has been mentioned in car reviews from experts. But it works fine for me as my kids need the white noise to sleep.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Fantastic car
Handles great, very quiet, smooth ride. decent amount of leg room in both front and back, however find there is a large blind spot either side of the windscreen. Fuel economy hasn’t been great, definitely not what they advertised - which was a selling point for us. Very comfortable to drive

Have you checked the manual for the fuses? If you dont have one and have not done that or know where they are just download a manual for it from Nissan online. Sounds like a fuse. Answered quite a few questions here on different product issues, never had a thanks for bothering to reply ever, pretty sad isnt it. Might get lucky this time. Throw a party if I do! Lol.
Good luck getting it sorted though.
Thanks for the help.I have a manual and have gone through it but no assistance.Had a bit of encouragement yesterday the car was parked in a very dark underground carpark and when I opened the door all the lights on the controls lit up.Only stayed on as long as the interior light but a bit of progress.Stan

Thats an oddy mate. Is carpet wet all the way to the pedals area? It could be coming from the dash area or firewall if it is. Have you felt up and around the accelerator and brake pedal, under and around the firewall area if anything is wet. Thats the first port of call for water entry.

My AC was not cycling so I changed my AC thermostat and it's still not cycling off its running continuously. Why? Does it have a electrical AC box controlling the thermostat?

common problem with AC in all the later model xtrails they all had AC problems dont know if Nissan actually did anything about it.
