I have used mine since about November 2022 and no gas smell. I would definitely take it back.

I have the same error. Disappointing to see that the problem wasn't answered. Did you resolve the problem?

You have to empty the water in it cause 3 means water overflow in the system

You may need to pull it apart and give it a good clean inside. Mine wasn't working either and a mate did this for me and it works perfect now

The PIU A/C is a refrigerated unit and no water is required.

No the condenser is not water cooled like some portable aircon units and it is not an evaporative cooler either. So you do not put water in it.

Check for obstructions over the air intake, eg plastic packaging?

Also might need a complete clean out inside

1480 watts is the maximum input power for the PIU14. How do you know it's using 830 watts? Have you measured it at maximum power use?

It's been rubbing for 2 days, read it multiple times, I have an energy device that tells me what I'm using, Bunnings 20$

Is that the Arlec Energy Cost Meter? I believe that this device has a setting called 'WATT' and that's probably the average power used. That number is less than 1480 because the PIU has been switching on and off over the 2 days that you have been monitoring the power use.

The Meter also has a setting called 'WATT MAX' and this might give you something closer to the maximum power used by the PIU. If it's still not reading something close to 1480W then I suggest doing a master reset on the Meter as per the Operating Instructions:

The red light means that the PIU14 is in standby mode. Pressing the power button should switch it on but if it doesn't you should check that the timer is switched off.

Error code 8 usually means that the upper fan is jammed, i.e. not spinning. Check that there is nothing stuck in the fan that is stopping it from spinning. If you can't get the fan spinning then it's a fault that you're not likely to fix yourself. Call the retailer that you purchased it from or contact the manufacturer for advice:

Cheers for the respnse. It was a fault so i exchanged it. Evidently i returned the new unit for a refund as the unit was so noisy. Even louder than the sound of my 2016 model motorvehicle. Certainly not a "Silent" machine as the name suggests!

F1 on the display panel means the air filter needs cleaning. Here's how to do it:
Press the power button to switch off the Olimpia Splendid PIU14. Remove the air filter from the top of the unit. The filter is a fine mesh screen about the size of two A4 pages. Wash the filter in warm water with a few drops of dish washing detergent. Rinse the filter with clean cold water. Shake off the excess water and reinsert the filter to the unit. Press the power button to switch the power on. Then, press and hold the power button for at least 5 seconds to remove the F1 message. The A/C should work as normal.

It is unlikely to be reverse cycle. Mine isn't. It cools only. I don't think any of the Olimpia units are reverse cycle. Some other brands are.
