Worst rental experience
This review is regarding the Auckland City and Auckland airport offices. While driving from Auckland city to coromandel my drivers side window exploded. From either a freak random pressure or rock or debris, the entire window combusted in my face. Bleeding from my arm, and my face and later my hands and feet cleaning the mess I called Omega to file a report and get a replacement car. The representative was so awful over the phone and accused me of lying about the incident. After getting off the phone I sat in the car and cried for a good bit, i...Read more
n disbelief over what had just happened and how awful the guy made me feel. I drove covered in glass and cuts for another hour to my airbnb where my legendary Airbnb hosts helped me bandage up and clean the glass out of the car and cover the window in case of rain. I attempted to call the company back to see what my options were, and was forwarded then to hold and then hung up on multiple times. After returning the car today, I received the same treatment from the lady at the front desk of the Auckland airport centre. She automatically charged me $350 for the window, and when I asked her about coverage she was unresponsive and cold. I walked out of that office in tears again. Others looking to rent cars while travelling NZ I recommend avoiding Omega even if their prices are the lowest, the risk you put yourself in getting faulty vehicles and huge CC charges as a result are worth looking at other companies. The stress, tears and whole mess the past few days has been nothing short of a nightmare.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Budget Hire - You get what you pay for
No blame of Omega but it was a horrible day when we arrived in Wellington with the cold rain coming in horizontally from the south. It took us a while to find our bearings and then we bravely made our way over to the car which is about a 400 meter walk from the terminal exit. A very basic Nissan Tida about 10 years old. Internally the car was presented clean and tidy. Externally quite worse for wear with numerous dings and scratches so we took lot's of photos. The hubcaps were cable tied on and they rattled loudly with the windows down so that was a little disconcerting and somewhat embarrassing at times. That said the car drove pretty well, economical and with decent power. Think I would spend more for a better quality vehicle next time.

No problems at all.
Rented from them on trip to Auckland NZ and found booking online a breeze plus our vehicle was basically 'as new'. Unfortunately I scratched the bumper (yes I told them) and the costs for repair were reasonable and covered by insurance. We will certainly use them next time.

So easy to deal with
My first time with Omega mainly because of the low price.
Auckland NZ airport.
I was dubious at the start.
They picked us up at the hotel within 10 minutes of calling them.
In their office i expected a long wait and a mountain of paperwork which has been my usual experience.
Surprise, 1 page, sign it, go outside and the car is brought around. From into the office and out 15 minutes tops and we were on the road.
My usual experience with car rentals at Auckland airport is whatever car i booked is either not returned yet, or not available.
Because of that i chose Omegas what ever is available on the day option, which is also the cheapest.
Was given a mazda demio.
Ok for 2 people, performed faultlessly....Read more
I was late taking it back to Auckland city depot. They did not mind. All up a good omega experience

Amazing value for money!
Last year we rented a smaller car from Omega's office in Auckland for two of us to tour the North Island and were extremely happy with the quality of the car, the staff and especially the price. So this year, when four of us were heading to the South Island, Omega Christchurch were our first choice. We did, of course, compare their prices to other companies but Omega's value for money has no comparison. The staff at Christchurch were very helpful and pleasant. We hired a Toyota Highlander which had plenty of room for four adults and baggage...Read more
. The car was in excellent condition and served us very well. We always take out full insurance, which can be so expensive for the day rate, but with Omega's competitive pricing, having the highest insurance cost still keeps it below its competitors. We will be back.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Great car and great deal!
I got a great deal for the 1dollar a day relocations. I just wasn’t able to pick a car, it was whatever was available. And then extra payment for whatever type of insurance you want to have. With it being winter and so snowy, I went for the gold insurance just to cover everything.
The company was very professional and the car, OMG. I thought I might have a little run around car or a minivan or something for the relocation. Nope. It was a Toyota Highlander with under 20000km on it! Super comfortable, roomy and a brilliant drive.

ry last minute. And everything was explained easily and I dropped it off after 3 days at Christchurch Airport just 1km from the international departures. There was a free shuttle to get me to the airport once I had dropped the car back. Highly recommend :)Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
Best After-Hours Service Ever - Highly Recommended!
Our experience with Omega was great. We had a late flight into Auckland, and had to pick up the car after hours (7:30pm). To do this, I had to fill out the paperwork in advance to email to Omega. I had some questions, and received an email response back within 24 hours. Upon arrival, we had a roomy Toyota Corolla waiting, and check-in was under a minute with the attendant. On return, it only took two minutes to park, drop the keys, and hop back on the shuttle to the airport. By far the fastest check-in/out I’ve had in a while. The car did have ...Read more
some scratches and dings from wear, so I took pictures to be on the safe side since it was after-hours pickup (just in case). There is an after-hours fee of about $25 USD, but well worth it for the ease and convenience. Car drove as expected for our trip around North Island, and no other surprise costs incurred. Would definitely recommend and book Omega again!Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Awful experience
Rented car in Christchurch and paid in full in advance. A day later told pickup and drop off times were outside their desk hours. Over the next 3 days countless forms to download fill out upload and return, then day of arrival told we would need an additional $35, currency unspecified, because again pickup was outside their hours. Also would need to pay similar fee on drop off. Office hours at airport are unbelievably 8 to 5.

Well priced
Rented a car from omega Christchurch airport depot for 11 days the web site was very easy to use, the staff were friendly and helpful we were picked up from the airport within 10 minutes of calling .
The car had a few kilometres on it but ran fairly good had a bit of a struggle on some of the bigger hills but got us there and back ok,the outside of the car was dirty on pickup (maybe from the weather ) the inside was reasonably clean but had a half pack of cigarettes under the drivers seat.
The rental price was good and the comprehensive insur...Read more

Absolutely Poor Customer Service
Customer service was absolutely terrible. We were firstly given a vehicle with a flat battery and unable to swap the vehicle. Over the next 3 days the battery ran flat twice late at night in town leaving us with a $25 taxi bill back home on both occasions and a 45 minute walk back in the next day with jumper leads.
We then swapped the car for a different one. We were given snow chains which were damaged and when we realised and went to swap them on our way up the mountain, the 3 people present at 7.30am refused to do so as they were there b...Read more
ut "not there" until 8am. We were eager to get to the mountain so continued with the chains with the broken link, and when the vehicle was returned we were charged $75 for broken chains. Unfortunately the car rental company, including the branch manager [name removed] to not give two bothers about the customer service. Saving about $100 compared to reputable companies ended up costing us more, and then there was also the hassle of leaving the car in town due to flat batteries and making trips back to the branch to swap the car and ask for non damaged chains. I would steer clear of this company, the slight saving is not worth it!!!! Rather support the reputable companies who will look after you in the event something is amiss.Similar opinion? Good experience
The booking was very easy, the car was nice for the price and the return and drop off to the airport was smooth. I would recommend this company for sure.

Terrible customer service
This company has terrible customer service. I paid the fee for hiring the car as well as a $400 deposit/ bond. Enjoyed our trip dropped the car back and flew home, this is where the issues started. I checked my bank statement and they had charged me an extra $400. I rang them and they explained that due to a computer error I had been refunded my deposit twice so the extra charge was just to even it out and the money should be I'm my account within the week. Two weeks later I call them again to explain I still haven't received any refunds. They ...Read more
say they'll call back once they've checked, no phone call, so I call them again to find out they've lost my card details and need them to process my refund. After 4 weeks I eventually get $400 from them, but not the full $800 they now owe me. At this stage my rent is due, I have my car to pay for and since they still have my money I'm forced to take a loan. Fast forward another month, several phone calls and empty promises and I'm still getting nowhere, the manager is conveniently out whenever I ring and I seem to get the same response every time I call "your money will be refunded shortly". It's been about 3 months and they have lost my card details again. About 3 and a half months later I finally get my money, however due to the loan I had to take out and the exchange rate I've lost about $150aud. Id rather go with a reputable company and pay extra for the car hire. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Excellent Service
Booked a car with Omega online before leaving Australia. I chose their Daily Special that comes with full insurance with zero excess. The car was booked for 9am on Wednesday 29th March from the Christchurch depot. I called Omega at 8.30am to arrange a motel pick up. The shuttle driver arrived within 10 mins and we were dropped at the office. The whole hire process was easy and the staff were professional and efficient. The shuttle driver had all our luggage loaded into the hire car by the time all the paper was done. The car was a 2005 Nissan T...Read more
iida was 274000 on the clock. The car was clean and in good condition and well maintained. I had hired the car for 14 days and during that time travelled over 3500 kms without a problem of any kind. The car was economical and averaged about 7 ltrs/100kms. The Nissan was roomy and a pleasure to drive. The drop off at the Auckland depot was also an easy hassle free process and the staff member who looked after me was polite and courteous. The whole process took only a few minutes and after all was done, we were taken straight to the airport which is only 5 mins away. It was truly a great experience and will use Omega Car Rentals again in the future when visiting New Zealand.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!
Excellent service and competitive rates
Very easy. We booked on line. Customer service at the depot was excellent. Friendly, efficient, thorough and speedy. Our vehicle pick up and drop off was stress free and we appreciated the personal service we received throughout. I would recommend them. No nonsense and small family feel organisation. Our car was basic, in good condition and perfect for our needs.

Terrible Service
Booked car a week ahead for my dad and 3 other pensioners whom were excited and happy until it got to picking up car 2 days later it has been a nightmare for them and myself as i organised it and paid for this. They don't listen to requests and are pretty rude and in a hurry. Definitely need more training in customer service or get more friendly staff members. I do not recommend this service. We did all booking with Aucland Omega car rentals. Thumbs down big time. I'm still waiting for supervisor to return my call!!!!!

Worst service ever in Queenstown and failed to deliver please avoid at all cost
Booking is misleading, Terms and conditions on their website is not upfront and charged me for cancellation fees just because we do not have a credit card whereas other car rental companies across the street has no such issue. Service is beyond horrible. They transferred me around and have someone from the airport branch yelling at me with no reasons and hang up on me!!!! I was speaking to them with a polite tone to begin with, that's the worst service ever and failed at all levels when they said will arrange someone to call me back but nothing...Read more

As a consumer it breaches all rights and made me feel humiliating to get shouted from them when someone from head office transferred straight to them for no reason and clearly not wanting to deal with their customersSimilar opinion?
