what settings do I use for slow cooking? :)
Hello Belinda,
You can use the setting STEW for slow cooking. It allows you to cook any recipes from 1 to 12 hours.
I hope this helps :)
What material is the steamer made from? How loud is the thermocooker when compared with the thermomix?
Steamer is metal, glass and plastic. I have never used a Thermomix so cannot comment on the sound.
The steamers provided with the Optimum ThermoCook are stainless steel compared to plastic with the Thermomix. Also the Optimum Thermocook has a Max of 87db at top speed running.
When compared to o...
Read morether reputable brands such as Thermomix, the Optimum ThermoCook is an affordable appliance, offering exceptional quality and performance ensuring you get your money’s worth. Due to the sophistication of cooking machines such as Thermocook and Thermomix, cost cutting is risky and cheaper machines are very likely to fail within a short period of time. Can the blades be turned off during cooking process to avoid mushing up soft food such as tofu or noodles?
You can use just the heating function without the blades turning.
If you want something to stir the food so it cooks evenly but doesn't mush the food, you could try using the kneading device which is small and blunt.
Hi Leo,
Thank you for your query, ...
Read more You can run the ThermoCook without the blade assembly / kneading tool moving. This can be done by setting the ThermoCook manually and putting in the temperature and time. If you use the pre-set functions: Boil, Warm, ReHeat or Stew this also heats the ThermoCook and does not move the blades. Will it cope with frozen fruits etc? Thanks.
Hi Angie,
Thank you for your query, ...
Read more Blending is one of 20 functions that the ThermoCook can perform with ease. The main difference between the ThermoCook and one of our high speed blenders is in the power and speed of the blades. As our high speed blenders have the extra speed compared to the ThermoCook, smoothies will be smoother especially when using frozen berries ingredients. Both machines can create delicious smoothies, nut milks, grinding and milling, dips and spreads. As the ThermoCook is a multi-function cooking machine it can perform cooking functions such as saute, steam, and slow cook. Due to the heating element the ThermoCook can cook hot soups, whereas with our high speed bledner soups can be heated via friction. Are there any plans to bring out an improved model in the near future?
The hot spots are usually when you are cooking meat or mince within the recipe and using the blades where the solids can get lodged within and get caught - therefore they will burn or cause the hot sp...

Read more bowl there are also quite a few that have expressed their interest into having a smaller one. So the opinions are a bit split at this point. As Denise perfectly pointed out, the hotspots mainly occur when cooking meat as some of the mixture might get stuck under the blades. You should be able to solve this issue by preparing your ingredients from before, as Denise suggested :-)Can anyone tell me what to do if using a recipe for a thermomix and it says to use reverse speed? Is that really necessary or can I just use the setting on speed 1 and the normal blade?
Reverse speed on the Thermomix is for kneading. They dont do a kneading tool so reverse their standard inbowl tool on slow to go backwards. And yes, SallyKitten has got it right!
Hi Ozzie, Sally & Denise better late than never :-)
Firstly, I want to apologize for the delayed response. It seems this question was missed somehow....
Read more As Denise pointed out, and I thank her for it, the reverse function on the Thermomix is there because it doesn't have a kneading attachment so it requires this function to properly process some ingredients. In the Thermocook you can simply use the normal blade at speed 1 as Sally pointed out, to get the results you're after. Let me know how the dish turned out and if you need anything else don't hesitate to drop a message here :-) Cheers to your health! Francois N.Where is the Thermocook made and assembled?

I saw a "Thermopro" at Harvey Norman yesterday and was astounded to see that the machine is absolutely identical to the Thermocook, and it was offering an extra jug as a bonus. The machine has to be ordered as HN do not keep them there, so I assumed they would get it from Froothie warehouse? It's $995 but I'm assuming that's for the extra bowl really as online, it is $850, plus shipping. I'd be interested to know what is happening about these machines please?
I did a search and yes, the thermopro is an exact replica of the thermocook. The only difference I can see is their cook book pictures are slightly different. As yet HN dont sell them in NZ. So far...
Read more Froothie are the only agents in NZ where I live. You are talking AUS$ I guess which would equate to NZ$ 900. To get the extra bowl is really a good buy but I did purchase an extra bowl for $NZ95 on special. I enjoy using the machine so much I am thinking of doing a blog just on my journey with it, from just thinking about purchase to actually using it at least daily. To sum all this up, for NZ$995 I got free shipping and my second bowl.I bought a Thermopro from HN in January and received it there and then. It is exactly the same as the Thermocook and I have enjoyed it immensely.
I am looking at buying this but wondering can I get an extra jug thanks :)
Yes, its on special currently at Froothie NZ for $95. Its handy as I keep the dough hook in it. I have still only used 1 pot in the 4 weeks I have had the, machine. I love the experience. Enjoy.

I've unpacked my thermocook and want to try boiling eggs. As I've never used a thermocook or thermomix I don't know how to use it. I've figured the settings out as per recipe book but it doesn't say if I should put the lid on? I've put the lid on and left the measuring cup at an angle as I can imagine there must be a build up of steam???? When do I know to put the lid on or leave it off on any of the recipes?
Always keep it on. They've thought about everything with the design, and unless the recipe says so, or if you're using the steaming basket, leave it on.
The book states unless the recipe says remove lid, leave it on ok? Examine your lid and you will see it slides inside and allows excess steam to escape. How do I know this??? I proofed bread in it ...
Read moreand the risen dough oozed out of the lid. Took me an hour of gently slopping the lid to clean it :)Hi Coleen,
Thank you for your query, ...
Read more Any time you are using the Boil function we would recommend that you only put the measuring cup in loosely (in the hole without turning to lock it in place) so that the steam can escape. You will need to have the lid in place for each function as the machine will not operate until the lid is secured (unless you are using the steaming basket in place of the lid) You can view some great recipes for the ThermoCook via this link https://www.froothie.com.au/pdfFile/Optimum%20ThermoCook%20Recipe%20Book.pdf If you need any further assistance please do not hesitate to contact our 24 x 7 support team at www.froothiesupport.com Have a great day.Hi All,
Just got my new TC on Friday and have been trying on few recipes over the week-end. I have a lot of mixed feelings as the end results as though satisfactory never really what I am expecting. I know it is a different way of cooking and I have to give it more time and tries but still I am less and less convinced. But was is a real weakness for me is the noise the TC makes while operating.
Am I the only one with that concern?
Its noisy when chopping but it doesnt last long. I found the recipes had too much stock/liquid and now use much less liquid and thicken with cornflour in the last few minutes through the top; jams/le...

Hi Evie,
Congratulations on your purchase, ...
Read more A recipe book is provided with the ThermoCook, and we suggest that you follow these recipes to get used to the speed, function and temperature settings. Once you are confident with our recipes you can use other recipes, however you might need to adapt some of the recipes to suit the ThermoCook eg: speed, time, temperature and function. Read moren instead of doing mash potato in the basket inside the container it is easier, especially if steaming other veges to use the steamer. Last night I peeled, cut up potatoes in the lower tray, and carrots and parsnips and peas in the top steamer. Steamed for 20 mins, emptied water from container, set up the whisk and mashed the potatoes first with home made yogurt instead of butter and milk, then mashed the carrots and parsnips together - put into lidded dishes in oven to keep warm then do your winter stew, but now I do my own stews adapting to the book's methods thickening with cornflour in the last 5 minutes. I sent away yesterday for a spare mixing bowl as I intend doing breads etc and its handy to have an extra.Thank you for this. I'm just going to work my way through the book . 1 question....if a re I pre says 2-3 people and I need more do I double everything or make more batches?
Sorry for all the questions

I was actually going to take the plunge and buy a Thermomix and googled it and stumbled across this page. The Thermocook sounds amazing. It sounds like the only difference is (or only down rather) is the scale is not integrated?? Well I was hoping someone could let me know how it copes with making nut butters etc. I'm a raw dessert blogger (mostly vegan) and I make my own raw chocolate so I have to buy a machine that will be great with blending my nuts etc into smooth cheesecakes etc. Would this be suitable or would I be better off getting a different machine?? Thanks so much for your assistance.
Hi Coleen,
Thank you for your query, ...
Read more The ThermoCook comes with a set of glass scales that are separate to the machine, whereas the Thermomix has inbuilt scales in the machine. Other major differences between the two models are • The ThermoCook can slow-cook for up to 12 hours, whereas Slow Cooking is not a feature the Thermomix has. • The steamers provided with the Optimum ThermoCook are stainless steel compared to plastic with the Thermomix The Thermomix has a recipe chip that fits into the machine, whereas the ThermoCook has a bound recipe book. While you can make nut butters in the ThermoCook, we would recommend using one of Optimum high speed vortex blenders for this function, as the blades in our vortex blenders are significantly faster. Our high speed blenders also come with a complimentary tamper tool which is recommended for making nut butters and anything thick such as raw desserts. Hi there
I have noticed with great interest that the steam basket is made of stainless steel.
I was wondering if any parts of the blades attachments had any components made out of plastic.
Thanks
Hi Janice,
Thank you for your query, ...
Read more The blades in the ThermoCook do not contain any plastic, however the mixing tool attachment is made of plastic.
