Wish I bought this sooner!
When I first heard about an 'air fryer' few years ago, I thought it was some contraption for cooking hot chips and didn't give it much thought. I then bought it on my sister's recommendation, as I found out it can cook fish, steak, chicken etc etc.
Just cooked some salmon steak for dinner with a tiny bit of olive oil on it and some salt/pepper/dried herbs and it's so good and convenient I wish I bought it years ago.

Phillip turbo star-oven cook tastes better
I found that it the chips crisped a little but no where as good as simply using the oven. Draw was not big enough to cook an actual chicken unless you cut it up in pieces. Ended up returning the machine as waste of money, going back to using the oven.

Avoid this air fryer
My third air fryer because of 9240 faults bought this one. Much smaller. Despite claims.
Wire bottom of basket falls out when emptying chips. Grill pan comes off handle.
If you filled basket to maximum chips would never cook. This is the sixth Philips air fryer I have bought and will be my last.
My other one is still away getting fixed under warranty as Phillips have no spares.
So disappointing as I have loved my Phillips air fryers but they only have a 12-18 month life span. This one is not worth the money at all.

Does a reasonable job
I have persevered with this appliance for several months. If you are not fussy and near enough will do you will like this appliance. But if you are fussy you will find you produce a better product from a normal fan forced oven or deep fryer. Best results for chips is to purchase the 1kg pack of frozen standard sized chips, place half the pack in a large bowl, sprinkle over about a tbs of oil, shake well, and put them on for 25 minutes at 200 degrees. Roast potatoes come out soft and dry at any setting. Just don't ever fool yourself into belie...Read more
ving this appliance will do chips and roast vegetables as good as the traditional methods. There is a difference. People who post rave reviews like the convenience and using less oil. But I cook frozen fish taking exactly the same time in a conventional fan forced oven (22 minutes), and my roast potatoes in the oven are crisp on the outside and moist and fluffy inside. This is something I can't ever achieve in this appliance. So for the sake of convenience it is O K, but just another appliance to clutter our kitchen to cook chips when the grandkids come over.2 comments

Handy Fryer
The Air Fryer certainly works as advertised, and quickly cooked the fries, onion rings and banana chips we tested.
There are, however, certain minor negatives to a very good product. The manual that comes with the unit is awful, poorly printed on very cheap paper and the illustrations are difficult to follow. This model lacks many useful accessories that are on the box flap. The ‘cookbook’ that is included, while well-illustrated, is very brief; but there is an excellent app that they refer you to that is available for your phone. This differs from the cookbook on their website. I do wish it was easier to print out recipes from the phone ‘cookbook’.

Surely my oven can do this...
That's what I thought until I tried it! It's a fantastic little machine. We cooked a store bought crumbed fish with homemade chips and made our own pork katsu (crumbed pork cutlet).
Check out our findings!

Good Buy
I bought a Viva Airfryer with the QuickClean basket in October last year.. I bought the one with the mechanical timer instead of the digital touch screen. I use it at least 4-5 times a week when cooking dinner. It's easy to use and the instructions are clear. I like that above the timer there are icons which give an indication of how many minutes they should be on for. Everything I've cooked so far has turned out to my satisfaction. I don't eat a lot of frozen chips, however tried them out first. The chips in my opinion come out better than i...Read more
n the oven. It's great for cooking steaks, lamb and chicken. Have yet to buy some of the accessories and I was surprised to see that they don't appear to be very expensive. Looking forward to trying out some of the other items the instruction booklet says can be cooked. The model that I bought is not as large as some of the other airfryers I have seen, but as a single person, I didn't feel that I needed one of the larger ones. It's big enough to feed a couple of friends when they come over. It's easy to clean and store either on my kitchen bench or on a shelf in my pantry.1 comment

Good low fat fryer
Simple system of hot air being forced upwards through a basket. Tried various foods in the basket and the air fryer is a healthy option. Plenty of recipes and simple directions on this machine. Easy to use and food tastes good. Does what it says, really good with those frozen chips from the supermarket.

Oh Em Gee.....!
Da daaa, the previous 4 star rating has now been updated! What a gift the Air Fryer is! It's used daily, hence its pride of place on the bench. Originally my idea was to heat 'finger food', but it does so much more. My craving is roast vegetables and what scrumptious results! Using the pan, making bread, rolls, or cakes is a breeze, in fact, the amazing Air Fryer makes me look as if I know what I'm doing! I'm no great cook, but this indispensable piece of equipment does the thinking for me, and never lets me down. Cleaning is never a ch...Read more
ore as being vegan, there is little or no fat and just a wipe around immediately after use does the trick. Actually, the final confirmation was my son-in-law inspecting it minutely after having lunch here and mumbling something about it possibly being a good investment. There can be no higher praise than that. Well, who needs to saddle up the big oven anymore. 5 stars, more if it was possible.1 comment

Dry Fryer
Bought this last year in November and it is a fantastic machine. Not only can you cook non-fatty chips, you can use it to reheat pizza, cook chicko rolls anything that would normally go into the deep fryer. Its easy to use so my teenage boys easily can use it.

Perfect for quick snacks!
Model HD9621 - So easy to use - Easy to clean - Fast! This model is great for snacks, sides or for small families. Would recommend the larger model if you wish to make whole meals. Not so brilliant at baking things like cakes.
Wish it had come with a larger recipe book. I don't own an iPad and my iPhone screen is too small to read the Recipe App whilst in my kitchen. I also wish the accessories had come with it, instead I had to purchase them separately. I love the rack. It is very useful as is the baking pan I purchased. Have yet to try the Grill pan.

Excellent Produces
I got my first Airfryer from local myer, and am very happy for this kitchen appliance. I tried the fries what I got from the supermarket without any additional oil. The taste of fries is perfect.
I have considered the digital led control panel model, but I got ahead with this model 9621/11. I believe that switch button will last longer than digital control.
Again, very happy with my choice.
