Steer clear of the matte venette
I have the matte black and white in the Polytech venette and have had nothing but problems. The sample I was shown was nothing like what I got. The product absorbs every mark. I understand matte products mark but these marks are hard to get out of not cleaned literally straight away. My kitchen is more high maintence then my 2 years.
Kitchens are the most used room in the whole house unless you want to be cleaning it 24/7 avoid it. My white cupboards have a permanent grey discolour shadow where you open them that I can’t get out. And the black...Read more
looks terrible. Around all the handles are smudge marks also. I have spoke to ploy tech and they are telling me I must have unrealistic expectations of the product. They have offered To do something about the white cupboards but are refusing to do anything about the black. The product is not smudge resistant as marketed. It’s as if it is porous and soaks up anything that touches it including water if not removed straight away. We have a brand new home and an expensive kitchen that looks terrible take my advice from my experience and please do not waste your money.

Yes I understand that but they are not willing to do anything about the black. Which the marking is just as bad on. You shouldn’t have to clean a cupboard every time it’s touched even with water.

A Company that stands by their Product!
It's a dream come true to have my 'ultra white' kitchen that turned yellow replaced under Warranty. Polytec honoured their 7 year Warranty Policy & I was impressed with the way their staff conducted themselves, carrying out the replacement work with care, integrity & consideration.
I'd like to thank Polytec for being a Top Company.

Yellowing of white doors
We purposely bought the the ‘ultra white gloss’ as we wanted a super white kitchen. I loved it for the first 4 years and then noticed a yellowing. Now it looks terrible. Kitchen installed November 2014

Ruined my brand new apartment
Along with other complainants, I too have the dark scheme and it is a nightmare with constant marks as soon as its touched. As per the standard cut n paste answer they give I contacted the warranty department and put a claim in that the product is "not fit for purpose" The rep turned up and managed to clean a bit off and said its a cleanable product and nothing wrong with it. As soon as he cleaned it I opened the doors and the marks came immediately back again and I told rep considering you have up to 3 meals a day plus emptying dishwasher etc ...Read more

Stay clear of this product. Worse laminate product I have ever encountered.
I recently purchased a Polytec composite laminate for my outdoor kitchen cabinets from a kitchen company. I noticed that marks on the cabinet doors would not come off no matter what I tried. I do have black doors and understood that this would entail more cleaning but I did not realise that you could actually not clean anything off the Polytec doors, even fingermarks. I rang the manager of the kitchen company and he contacted Polytec and had a representative come out here. Firstly the representative asked me what cleaning products I had used an...Read more
d I advised him what I had used and that none of them had cleaned any of the marks off. He proceeded to tell me that is because I chose black doors and should have gone with a different colour but insisted that they could be cleaned. He had a cloth and a bottle of windex and after scrubbing over and over again not only did he not remove all of the marks but the doors looked worse than before because they were now streaked all over from the Windex. I said to him that I can't live with the doors like that and he said that he has never seen that happen on their doors and this is the first time he has come across Polytec doors that can't be cleaned (which is absolute rubbish because when I read the reviews there were reviews stating that they could not clean the product and when they managed to get some of the marks off it left streaking all over the cabinets, so obviously he lied and it is obviously a major problem/flaw in the product). He took photos of the cabinets to show management but said that they would not be doing anything else in regard to changing the cabinets or supplying some sort of cleaning solution that would clean them as it is not classed as a fault in the product. I argued with him as I did not agree with his opinion that it was not a fault in the product as it ridiculous that everything marks the product and then cannot be cleaned off which is obviously a fault. He then said to me that he had done me a favour by driving two hours to my house to see for himself what the problem was and implied that I should be thankful that he even came out to look at the problem. I intend to pursue this matter and will be ringing Consumer Affairs to see what I can do but I advise everyone out there to stay well clear of this product as it is obviously faulty in the fact that you can't actually clean it and have to live with finger marks and streaking all over your cabinets. I also pointed out to the rep from Polytec that the end panels between the cabinets had faded to grey for some reason (please bear in mind that I only had the kitchen installed 6 months ago) and I now had grey end panels between my cabinets which looked terrible. He had a bottle of black furniture polish and rubbed it along the end panels and they did look better but I can't believe that in only 6 months they had already faded. My concern is what are the cabinets going to look like in the future if the end panels can fade in so short a time period and it is ridiculous that I will have to keep applying black furniture polish to my Polytec end panels between my cabinets so that they stay black. I just can't emphasise enough what an inferior product this is and not worth the huge amount of money I paid for it.3 comments

Unacceptable
Having decided on the use of Polytec Ultra Glaze Phantom Black Gloss in our new high end kitchen under the kitchen cabinet manufacturers recommendations for it's supposed superior quality and scratch resistant protection. We have noticed that all overhead panel's - 6 in all have bowed both horizontally and vertically. These panel's are in play and still have protective film on them. The cabinets are not in use as the kitchen is in the process of completion. This problem had been brought to the attention of kitchen cabinet manufacturer who reord...Read more
ered replacement panel's directly from Polytec. Once received from Polytec the kitchen cabinet manufacturer inspected them but found these panel's to be also bowed. Polytec's rep was called in to inspect and claimed Polytec would remake these panel's however said Polytec's tolerance on bowing is 3mm over 1200mm. Also stating " do not expect the replacement panel's to be flat, it's just not possible." I find this totally unacceptable considering Polytec information under Storage and Maintenance states "avoid leaning large doors, panel's and sheets against wall's or other surfaces, this will cause bowing and may void any warranty obligations held by Polytec. It is also inexcusable that Polytec are supplying a product which is already bowed and is "Not fit for Purpose." In the meantime we are left with an incomplete high end kitchen awaiting resolution. Which in our eyes doesn't seem to be forthcoming any time soon.3 comments

Exceptional Quality Customer Service - Polytec
Recently we noticed that our white kitchen cupboards had turned yellow. The kitchen was less than five years old. I contacted the company who had supplied the kitchen and they referred my concern to Polytec who had manufactured the board.

Discoloured kitchen
We have a kitchen and two bathrooms in our home with Polytec cabinets which have all completely discoloured, from bright white to yellow, within 5 years of installation. We didn’t install the kitchen ourselves, so have been told that we can’t be covered by the Polytec warranty without original invoices. This of course is not strictly the fault of Polytec, however given that in this case the cabinet maker is refusing to provide any proof of purchase to us, we have no recourse against a defective product. Disappointing to say the least, and relevant to anyone purchasing a property with this product already installed- you will not be assisted if this happens to you.

Difficult to keep scratch free.
Had a kitchen renovation about 5 years ago, Royal Oyster ultraglaze. It looks wonderful but constantly worry when the grandchildren visit as it is not child friendly. Scratches easily and I don’t know how to remove them. Smudge marks easily too but wipe off relatively well. The installers left some glue and this shows up in certain light conditions. Don’t know how to remove this either. The kitchen looks great but is hard work in a very light filled area.

I recently ordered new edging tape to smarten up my Polytec kitchen cabinets & requested postage be added to the invoice. on't have a cabinet maker nor do I need one to apply edging tape! If I could afford to employ one for such a simple task it would be someone local so if you can send it to one of the 5 cabinet makers within a 1km radius of my house in Redfern (one of them 2 streets away, less than a minute walk) why can't you send it to me? The criteria of having to hold a trade account is irrelevant as I have already paid for the item. For the record, a quick Google search for cabinet makers in Sydney confirms that the vast majority are located in residential areas so refusing to even allow me to pay the same amount you charge for delivering a kitchen, possibly to a cabinet maker around the corner from me, so I can use the edging tape I purchased months ago is completely unreasonable. All I asked was to have my item posted to me at my expense - something no other business or individual I have ever purchased from has ever been unwilling or unable to do - it's the most basic of services! Do you honestly think its too much trouble to include one small package with your weekly mail? The amount of anguish this has caused me is ridiculously out of proportion to the simple transaction it could have been, compounded by the fact that all the hard work I've done to have my home looking its best will be let down by the unfinished kitchen when family members arrive next week for the anniversary of my husband's death.Similar opinion? All work has now been finished and cannot fault their professionalism and workmanship, we now have a sparkling white kitchen again. Polytec maintenance issue
Our quite new white kitchen and bathroom cupboards had become a horrible cream colour. Polytec came and check measured all affected areas and replaced with lovely bright white doors etc. There were two drawers, 1 cupboard which were not included in the order (due to a mistake) and 1 bench end had a scratch on it. The tradesmen who installed the new doors etc. have promised to return and fix these items. The workmen were polite, clean, tidy and did their work very well. We look forward to getting the repairs completed as soon as possible.

Am considering getting kitchen overhead cupboard doors redone in a Polytech Venette Cinder. However from reading the feedback it sounds like darker colours show up scuff marks & fingerprints more than lighter colours. Is the Venette finsh definitely mark & print free as it claims to be?
1 answer
Sarah M.Polytec
Hi Maria,
The use of our current samples gives the colour and finish that a customer would expect to receive. Samples are provided for colour and finish selection and polytec recommend testing a sample for fingerprint resistance and ease of cleaning. Please head to our website to order a free sample, to see if this product will be suitable in your home.

I would like to cut and past Angela from SA who posted a 1 star review 4 months ago. My story is exactly the same With Matt black grain effect melamine. Product Manager came out today using his cleaning product still left streaks and marking. He has taken a door for testing but looking at other people’s outcomes I can’t say I’m holding out much hope. Looks like there is another report 2 years ago stating the same issues. Why is this, not fit for purpose, product still on the market?
14 answers
Sarah M.Polytec
Hi Lyndsay, sorry to hear your colour selection has not met the expected application.
Darker colours will show superficial wear and tear more readily than lighter coloured surfaces and require more care and maintenance as stated in polytec brochures, this is the case with any dark surface object. Polytec supply product samples for the purpose of colour, finish and surface selection. The product samples are no different from the final product supplied, testing of the surface and colour for suitability in an application should be decided prior to installation. Applications differ from project to project and polytec cannot control the intended use, there are many variables at play, eg natural light, design, traffic flow, residential or commercial, etc.
For the best cleaning method, we recommend warm soapy water and a microfiber cloth followed by wiping down with a dry microfiber cloth. Dark surfaces will require cleaning more often than lighter surfaces.
That is how I clean it. I just strongly feel having to do this multiple times a day whenever anyone touches a surface is unrealistic and suggests to me this product is not fit for purpose in a kitchen setting. It would appear I am not alone in this opinion and complaints have been made over a few years. You are well aware of these issues yet continue to sell this substandard product
I have just had Polytec island unit cupboards installed today .. using Melamine Black Woodmatt .. VERY DISAPPOINTED ... They are terrible .. HELP .. my complaint is exactly what Lyndsey has complained about !!!
