Miserable flights
I have tried contacting the airline but the Sydney office didn’t want to know and the compliment/complaint email won’t send. The flight from Perth to Doha was so cramped we were grateful for the enforced 22 hour stopover, due to a change in flight days after we booked. At least the requested bland meal was supplied. On the return flight Rome/Doha/Perth there was no special meal, I kept checking that I wasn’t sitting on my seat belt as the seat was that uncomfortable and both my daughter and myself left the aircraft covered in “bed bug or simi...Read more

I had flown several times with Qatar in the past and found them to be very good but I would be very relevant to fly with them again.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Rebooking fee - rip off - class action
I booked two international tickets Melbourne - Dublin Total $2400. I requested to change one flight to the next day (Manchester - Dublin). There was $35 increase to taxes and fare increase of $5 increase for the price of the flight and I have been requested to pay $630 per person (that’s $1260) which is the equivalent of a full international return flight from Melbourne to Dublin. All charges are for reprocessing the fare. This charge is the same irrespective of the increase in fare or taxes. The airline will have An ACCC/fair trading enquiry s...Read more
oon because the reprocessing fee of $310 per person are disproportionately out of sync with practical costs for processing a fare change. There can be no justification for this cost when an airline has plenty of notice of the change and has received payment upfront for the flight 6 months in advance of the service being provided. They will be asked to provide a fee justification similar to the banks for their payment dishonour Fees. An airline will not be able to justify this in a court of law. A public class action might be beneficial so that this market self regulates and provides fairness to customers. Update 15/2/20 Qatar Airways are providing me with a written fee justification for their $620 ($310 per person airline rebooking fee). I am still waiting for this after a few weeks of my request. I have had to write 5 emails and placed 6 phone calls to them (1 hour each time). They have no proper customer complaint process for Australia customers and they do not subscribe to the Airline Ombudsperson service. I will go to fair trading to escalate this.Similar opinion? Destroyed Bag
Qatar Airways are refusing to replace my bag which they destroyed while the bag was in their procession.
My Delsey Chatelet bag can not be repair by Qatar Airways repairer in Sydney. The repair quoted Qatar to replace the bag, now Qatar are refusing to pay the replacement cost.

Worst service ever
Worst service I have ever received, from any company, ever.
I tried to purchase tickets on the 21/12/19 for the price of 1060 dollars. The transaction was declined and no tickets were issued. However a hold was put on my card for the full amount. Next was over two and a half hours of phone time spread over ten separate calls where Qatar was extremely unhelpful and refused to either email the bank in order to release the hold on my card, or put the transaction through and issue my tickets.
After 7 days, on the 28/12/19, Qatar put the transactio...Read more
n through and took the money. They then proceeded to deny that they had received the money even after I sent proof in the form of a bank statement. Eventually they admitted to having the funds and on the 28/12/19 they said that they had processed the refund and it would take 24 to 48 hours to appear in my card. 18 days later and still no sign of the funds, I again contacted them and after another hour on the phone they again started to deny that they had ever received the funds. I still have not received anything from Qatar (valid 17/01/2020). Not one email or phone call, despite them having my money since the 21/12/20. I have opened a dispute with the bank and may have to resort to getting legal aid.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Best airline I have ever flown with.
I Used Qatar for 4 flights. Australia to Doha, Then onto the Netherlands and back.
I have flown to 4 countries before and will now always stick with Qatar if I can.
The service was outstanding. I flew economy on all sections but felt like I was getting 5 star service.
Unless you are very tall. The legroom is more then adequate.
I don't sleep on flights and the air hostesses and hostesses, made sure I had drinks on hand, anything I asked for was always met with a smile.
All flights were nearly fully booked, so they had a lot of passengers to ...Read more

Heed the Warnings Lest You Fall Victim
Sydney to Kiev via Doha.
Left Sydney early arrived Doha half hour late at 5.43am
A 380 Airbus with about 530 passengers.
Took 20 minutes to get off.
Another 20 minutes to get through transfer and security.
Left me about 2 minutes to get to connecting flight to Kiev. Doha is a huge airport. Gate on opposite side.
Not a snowflakes chance of making it in time.
NOW GET THIS !
Qatar blamed me for missing the connecting flight !! Remember they were half hour late getting in to Doha !!
Forced me to pay over $780 AUD to get on 8 hr later flight to Kiev !...Read more

On par with Singapore Airlines
We have flown Adelaide to Europe with Qatar twice now. And have booked a 3rd.
The flights were good:
on time, excellent flight crew, good food, clean, good IFE, as comfortable as economy can be.
We opted for Qatar to avoid the long layover when flying Singapore. No complaints.
I had a customer service request answered by email, efficient and problem solved.
Doha airport is spotless, modern, and efficient. Bus from plane to terminal gives an overview of vast size of the airport.
Pricing was excellent. Booked online via the app.
I ordered a special meal ‘Asian vegetarian’ last time, really good, lots of options for special meals, but the standard meals great too. ...Read more

Airline or a joke
Flight from Adelaide to Doha was cancelled. No communication with new flight details. After 20 hours of being messed around finally got on next flight. Had to have connections reorganised, via Oslo to then connect to Birmingham UK. After 7 hours in Doha and being turned away from the lounge due to it being already full (I was assured in Adelaide I would have use of the lounge), I was informed connection to Oslo was delayed so would miss Birmingham connection. I was offered a hotel in Oslo but as I was already 2 days delayed I just wanted to get...Read more

Never again for the rest of my life!
Most horrible, smelly and disgusting meal during your flight, too expensive layover during your flight and such a long hours between the connection. I lost my experience headphone on the aircraft and never found it, even though I completed the found form. Never had such an experience with any other airlines in my entire life. The most expensive "duty free "in the world. Don't recommend it at all.

Worst Experience I Had in More than 1000 Flights
We traveled as a family of 3, with our 9 months old daughter.
On our outbound flights from Sydney to Romania, my wife's luggage arrived with 2 wheels out of 4 dangling, and a big crack at the bottom, next to the two broken wheels, although was a solid plastic Samsonite luggage, that was used on many flights in the past.
On our return flight, which was scheduled for the 8th of November, we arrived at the airport, only to notice that our flight was nowhere on the departing flights screen. After asking at the Information desk, we were told that t...Read more
he flight has left 4 hours earlier, but nobody has bothered to inform us about this fact. It seems that the flight time was changed before we even left Australia, but Qatar didn't think that it was important to inform us. The ground crew from TAROM (the Romanian air carrier), has helped us to move our flights, but they could only propose a suitable alternative, without lengthy stopovers, in a weeks time. So, we were forced to stay another week. When calling the Qatar Airways Call Center to see what has happened, no apology was offered, and on top of that, they gave us seats in different rows on the second of our flights (Doha to Sydney), a 15 hours flight, even if we said that we are a family travelling with an infant and we need a bassinet, saying that it will be sorted at the Check-in counter. After the extra week of stay, during which our daughter got sick, when we arrived at the Qatar Check-in counter, on the second flight, we were given seats on the same row, but after handing us the tickets, the lady at counter said that they are actually separated by the aisle. When we told her that we want to seat together on all the flights, she replied that this should be OK, and we just have to ask the person next to us to swap seats. When I pointed out that this is not really something that a passenger should do, she said that there is nothing that she can do. On top of that, we clearly told them that we need the pram on board, as we have bought the smallest available travel pram (the size of a backpack when folded and a weight of less than 5 Kg), which is approved by all the airlines, and which we had no issue to take on board when we specifically for this purpose. When we arrived at the airplane door, we were told that the pram can't be taken on board and that we will get it back in Sydney, and this should not be a problem as the Doha airport offers prams. When asked what should we do in Sydney, as there are no prams, we were again told that this is not their problem. After landing in Doha, we went to the transfer desk and complained about the seats for the next 15 hours flight, and to our surprise the lady at the counter told us that she does not know why we were not given seats together as they are available, and quickly changed my wife's ticket so that we could seat together. Midway through the flight from Doha to Sydney, the captain made an announcement and informed us that we will have to be diverted to Singapore due to technical issues with the aircraft. By this time, our daughter was quite sick, so a stopover in Singapore wasn't looking too bad, but it was also meaning that I will have to take an extra day of leave. Unfortunately, Qatar kept us on the tarmac for more than two hours, while the ground crew was trying to repair the airplane, and after this could not be achieved, they moved us into the airport and then after a few more hours to a city hotel.Similar opinion? Great customer service
My husband and I flew from Adelaide to Doha then Venice return in October this year and were very happy with Qatar Airways. The planes were clean, food good and service A1. This is the third time I have flown with them and was happy I did. The cabin crew were always pleasant and helpful, the airport staff were also helpful in getting us to our transfer each time.

Dont recommend this airline to families with young kids at all
Travelled with Qatar airways with our 16 months old son and dont recommend this airline to families with young kids at all. The ground staffs in Tehran airport were rude, aggressive and completely inconsiderate. They have checked all our bags in to the last piece and finally told us that we have 5 kgs of excessive weights. When we told them that we cant take out anything form the last luggage because they are all our sons essential stuff and we would like to take stuffs from other luggage, they told us that we have to wait for an hour to unload...Read more
other luggage! It was my first time to see an airline check in all bags without weighting them so I asked them how you let our bags loaded into the plane when you havent measured them yet! thats when the lady behind the counter asked us to talk to her manager. We thought we may get some help from the supervisor but instead he started blaming us for what happened and even threatened that we may miss our flight if it takes too long to unload our bags! Eventually we decided to take items and put them in our carry-on bags to make sure we dont miss our flight. We didnt want to have heavy carry in bags because our stop in Doha was less than 2 hours before another 15 hours flight to Sydney but we didnt have any other choice. Our bad experience didnt finish here when we found that they have checked in our 16 months son as a child not a toddler so we cant sit him on our lap during landing and take-off. We had to explain that to the cabin crew and show them evidence that our son is still officially a toddler not a child and he cant sit on his own wearing a seat belt during landing and take-off. I know we didnt need to by a seat for toddlers but we paid the extra money to make sure we have less headache while traveling with our 16 months but thanks to Qatar airways that even becomes a burden for usSimilar opinion? Flew with Qatar for the first time to Europe, normally I fly with Emirates but thought to try out Qatar Airways this time. So glad I did!!! On our first flight to Doha, my seat was broken, the seat recliner would not stay upright. Not fun on what is to be a long 15 hour flight. I notified the flight attendant of this at the beginning and was told they will look into it and then left. Honestly I wasn't expecting much on an economy fare but 5 minutes later the flight attendant comes back with his supervisor and within minutes my seat was fixed. T...Read more

Extremely poor service a cancelled flight from first time Qatar business passenger
26th sept 2022, turned up at Istanbul airport for our flight, cancelled, no communications at all, if notified we could have organised alternate flights and arrived home to do business on time, but experienced a 3 flight nightmare through Jakarta with multiple long waits. No explanations just plenty of advice from various Qatar flight crew and checkin staff especially at Istanbul and Doha on policies, free hotels, which was all false. 8 business class flights on this Euro conference with Qatar and they could not even contact us and then on arri...Read more
val for the flight home they handed us a paper saying the new flight plan, no choices or options which again was lie. An earlier flight from the other Istanbul new airport meant we would have made our one flight connection in Doha for a one stop return flight. We experienced run around lies at all airports from their staff, and different info on the planes from the business class staff as to policy for cancelled flights and communication. We were never given a reason why the flight was cancelled either in Istanbul or at the complaints desk in Doha; why at 3:30am they knew our 14:40pm flight was cancelled but no calls, emails, texts hence no options but the one they pre planned. Really bad service on the ground, and their own central Hubb Doha was supposed to provide better options, or at least hotels on the various stops. They just pushed us along no matter how hard we protested telling us sorry, that is all we can do when we spoke to many people from the cancelled flight who had been advised early and provided what they wanted. Cant be hard to call when there is a almost 12hr difference between when they knew and the flight leaving. Anyway, we had not options, wasted hours at various desks trying to seek their help, same ignorance and lies all along, forced to take what they offered, and what occurred on arrival in Jakarta was unbelievable. They would not let us through transfer, made us wait for 2 hours standing against the wall as there were no seas whilst the Jakarta transfer staff walked to the check the alternate qantas flight we were booked on as they had no idea who we were. Could not check our flight on a computer at the transfer desk and the staff at the desk had no idea what to do with us. They took our passports, boarding passes, told to stand over there, we will be 15mins, but it took 2 hours. Scary when you have no idea who the guy was that took all the documents you needed to get home just to head to wherever qantas was to check we were legitimate passengers. Qatar booked this, not us so they are at fault. Another long wait but a good flight home on Qantas with a crew we knew having flown with them to Singapore many time. There issue is endemic poor communication, horrid service on the ground, poor training for cancellations, and lies all the way home especially in DOha where we were told we would be able to fix the nightmare. Oh, this happened after the 100 person capacity 1 barely functioning toilet business class lounge wait till the 7:40pm flight with the 500 plus persons trying to sit, sleep, or find room anywhere they could, which was certainly not what I had paid for or expected. Leave the chair to stretch or go to the toilet, lose you seat or position on the floor. Found more room at a bar outside this lounge. Complaints, tried a few numbers and suggestions even from their own webpage, email was acknowledged but not expecting a response, fax disconnected, phone went to message of some sort. Number one airline in the world and business class number one. I don't think so. First time trying this airline for a new Euro stop through Doha. Maybe the last time for any of my business staff or myself flying this airline if I do not get some apology but the forums are not promising success. Was a lot worse than the limited complaint here. Worst airline experience ever
This was the worst flying experience I have ever had.
Not only was the service shocking, but they managed to lose my bag.
I can even accept that, poor service is what you get on a budget carrier, and lost luggage happens to every airline. That's why I have travel insurance.
My biggest problem was that I couldn't claim on travel insurance until Qatar had closed their case and issued any compensation. This has taken 3 months so far and over 40 follow up emails. They keep coming up with a reason that the file hasn't been finalised, set a date the...Read more

First time flying with Qatar, and will do so again. We flew from Adelaide to Doha then Zagreb. Return from Dublin to Doha, Adelaide. Good communication, great in flight service especially on the return flight. One family member is gluten free and the supervising flight attendant went out of her way to ensure our daughter was catered for. Clean toilets, smooth on time flights, good communication by captain and crew, and a good choice of inflight entertainment. Doha airport was a 2 hour stopover and easy to navigate.

Better Than Most
Just taken my second Europe long haul flight with Qatar Airways, and thinking the meals and service were again of reasonable standard thought I would write a review. Their planes a clean, toilets well maintained and the meals are reasonably tasty and well presented. I suggest the smiling gnome who heads up our national airline should take his next London trip with Qatar Airways to see how meals should look and taste like as well as to discover that good service is not hard to provide. I recommend you consider Qatar Airways for your next European flight.

o your complaints, poor communication in any, charge extra for their own mistakes, and well keep reading especially the 1star complaints as they are horrific for a labled best airline and business class in the world. Does not look good for the worlds best airline when 1 star complaints are way higher than 5 star excellence you'd expect. I think Singapore and Qantas through Singapore is what I will be returning to. How can any airline treat its passengers like this? addition added 18/10, tried to claim qantas points through one world flights. Qatar told Qantas all flights did not exist even after I supplied copies and ticket number. Wonder how I got to and from Sydney, and the last flight was an alternate Qantas flight from Jakarta, from the initial cancellation and I got those points. Wonder how I got to Jakarta. The reading on how they deny claims, pay extra for flights, poor service when problems occur etc etc are endemic so if you use this company, you may suffer what myself and others have faced.
