Comprehensive Car Insurance

Never ever again will i insure with QBE. I was run off the road by a lady on her mobile phone at warnavale. Plenty of witnesses. I was thrown 40 mtrs down the road & only suffered a broken thumb. ( Lucky to be alive ) Its coming up to 7 weeks & still no sign of my money. I received a letter to say it's been transferred to my account & still nothing. Proberly making interest off my cash. I'm on my second day As my bike is my only means of transport of paying for taxis. Also my apparel claim of $1500 was knocked back due to no pics of my blood stained clothing. I am a ex serving Army veteran with ptsd & to be treated this way in unacceptable. Please do not use there services. Next point of action is procediding with legal action against your accounts department.

Has QBE run an organisational analysis and diagnosis by an external agent to come to understand and change the conditions giving rise to the poor experiences uttered here by stakeholders?

Probably not, but they are one of the top insurers so if they are making more money than they loose in bad press then they won't care. My problems started once they recouped the money from the other insurer and then only my money for losses was left - at which time they abandoned trying to recoup money that they were not entitled to keep. Remember when i first complained about them lying to me the complaint was handled by an "internal complaint resolution officer", now that i have upgraded the complaint to the ombudsman i am being harrassed by a full time "external complaint resolution officer". This new guys job is to foil official complaints and it's a full time job.

Hi Ivan, you need to contact QBE directly, or ANZ if they are your insurance broker. Use the phone, they don't reply to emails and record the conversation if you can.
Good luck.

I had a accident a month ago with my car been a customer with QBE for the last four years and never had any problems now my first time is coming up and the customer service is just terrible the sending me all the time different answers I've been called few times to be told I get answer in between 24 and 48 hours I don't know what I'm what I have to do but that's ridiculous I'm out of the car and they only answer why I get from QBE is he going to contact you how long can you stay together paper for art figure 4 ride off car

I am sorry about the accident.. Do not rely on telephone calls . Make all contact with them by EMAIL only. The emails are evidence of what they are telling you. Emails give dates that show this long delay in attending to you.. You can show the emails in a complaint.
I complained to QBE's Customer Care at head office in Sydney but they were not helpful either ! I have now lodged a complaint with the Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA). Otherwise get legal assistance.
I hope this helps you.

This is a general question about the claims and escalation process.

I've recently taken out a Fire, Theft and Third-Party Property policy with QBE. Noting the reviews here - the vast majority of which note extremely poor service, and a culture of victim blaming - I'm anticipating that if I ever need to make a claim, I will need to contact QBE, then their complaints Department, and then - when that inevitably fails - go through the FOS, and then (presumably) take them to the Small Claims court.

So, I guess the question is, knowing all of that in advance, is there any merit in simply not dealing with QBE at all, and taking them either straight to the FOS (or even straight to Court)?

Not an issue. Read the contract T&C.

@David, thanks for that very descriptive answer. I haven't yet been sent a PDS (which I imagine is deliberate, as they'll no doubt quote a pile of obscure Ts and Cs if ever I have to claim). So, to help me (and perhaps a number of other people) out, could elaborate on your extremely descriptive and help comment above...? In other words, which parts of the Ts and Cs relate to an immediate, preemptive escalation of the claims process via either the complaints process, the FOS or the Small Claims Court (or a combination of one or more of the above?

Again, thanks for your descriptive and helpful answer. I'm sure many others reading this will feel the same way.

What does "prove nil demerit points status" mean? Very confusing

Hi Choc5, we assume this is in reference to CTP insurance. In order to validate that you have nil demerits and the quote for CTP, our system checks your details with the RMS to confirm ~BLS

Car Insurance

My son is insured with QBE and he had his motorbike stolen on March 11th. A police report was filed within the hour and an independent investigator has filed a report at QBE’s request. It’s now five weeks later and nothing has happened except loan and insurance repayments are still being taken from his account. He is a full time student who is flipping burgers to pay his way and now he is paying the insurance and loan repayments for something he no longer has and he is forced to use public transport at additional cost.
We are now having to support him because of these increased costs. This is disgraceful and needs to be sorted ASAP. I have called 3 times and each time I’m told I will be called back, but it never happens.
What is the best option here, register a complaint with the ombudsman or do you think QBE will actually honour their obligation?

If like me, you have been reading all of the feedback from various customers, it would appear that QBE insurance can take months to process a claim. I have just taken the house and contents insurance with defence housing and I hope and pray that should I encounter any difficulties in the event that I make a claim that DSH Will step in and make the process a lot easier. In fact I would be surprised that I would be required to deal with offshore call centre if my insurance is through the Australian defence service. And anybody in the defence service who has made a claim qualify this question for me? Did they speak with DSH or were they required to speak with somebody in Manila who was not trained in either how to handle the claim or as even had English lessons?

Just got insurance box a few weeks ago. Wondering about the parameters it's says to follow? I live in a semi rural area it's not all hilly but many areas are. Although I'm observing the speed limits and accelerating and braking slowly, I find it near impossible to stay under the 2rpm limit you set going up a slope, and obviously you brake more going down one than say driving on a flat. I'm just wondering if the box can tell when you're driving a hilly area versus a flat one? And also the difference with accelerating and braking in a 60km zone versus a 100km zone?

2 answers
QBE
QbeQBE

Thanks for the question Kortney. We do adjust to road type and conditions but we don’t take into account the rpm in the DriveScore calculations. Just drive naturally, no need to be distracted by your rpms. We sample driving over time till your own DriveScore settles and can be used to reward your good driving.

Kortney
Kortney

Well that's wrong because it keeps telling me I'm accelerating too hard and in the advice part of it it says you shouldn't accelerate above 2rpm which is next to impossible if your not driving on a flat surface or driving on 80-10km roads for example entering a Freeway. My score isn't great and I'm concerned about it and the ability to drive safely on the roads I frequent. I find it's very easy and a natural way of driving in inner city suburbs and low speed areas but quite the opposite on larger rural roads/Freeways or anything on a slope/Hill.
