Don’t trust the quotes
PlumbersI’ve had this service for years and never had a problem . Last week I had to replace heating system . I was given a quote through home assist then was charged more than the quote without any warning or discussion.
RACV used to offer discounts when booking trades through them

PlumbersI am a life time member of RACV and used the services over many years and generally been very happy with their services. More recently I have had two not so good experiences with them and fully understand the negative comments on this page. I think the RACV should be more selective with their choice of company service providers.

PlumbersToilet started leaking, called they promptly sent a contracted plumber told me to stick a bucket under the leak and be back tomorrow. Subsequently call the next morning $495 quote ... (more than a Toilet + install from bunnings) Toilet still leaks questioning why I pay for racv.

PlumbersI called bc of a burst pipe. Plumber arrived within the hour. Wasn't sure if he could fix it and suggested he would do a quote and arrange later. I expected that would be semi-urgent since he could clearly see the burst pipe (in a courtyard), but waited all the next day with no contact (and didn't give me contact details). I rang RACV again who said 'you'll get a quote' but now it's Friday night!! Did they think that was reasonable for a burst pipe that I would wait from Thursday to Monday for the quote and then not sure when the actual repair

Know better, choose better.
Kitchen sink still blocked after the visit
PlumbersI had blocked sink 2 years ago which I called a plumber to fix it within 45min using high pressure hose to unblock the pipe. This time thought it's an easy job, but unfortunately the plumber called in didn't solve my problem and he doesn't have the right tools for the pipe. So after he left my kitchen sink still blocked. I don't understand the point of spending $230/year and can't even get simple problem solved. I may end up getting a expensive quotation of changing drainage pipe later but that's not what I expected.
Wrong Technician send for the job
PlumbersI had a problem with my Evaporative cooling system. The water regulator was not working and the unit was not filling up with water.
When the technician arrived he fiddled with the controller and said he could not get up a double story building as he's not authorized.
I am disappointed that the call centre didn't ask if it was a double story house. If they had there was no need to send a tech who could not complete the job. The guy who came hand-balled it to another dept which said it was a quoted job. When the quote arrived and I rang the bus

PlumbersOn the report it say . Not working, try to fix, Replace .
And given a quote for $4000 to fix . No call tell what is the issue or any explanation to why it not working . What thought was the pilot blown up due to small door come off due to wind . So matter of fix the door and light up the pilot I thought .
Out-sourced plumber not keen on fix the problem on site but quote for high price.
PlumbersWe've been with RACV Emergency Home Assist for a few years now and find the jobs with those out-sourced plumbers are often unable to be fixed on site, but quoted with above market cost. A similar job last time with RACV's own plumber was just worry free, problem solved on site within 15 mins by an experienced plumber. Not sure if anyone share the same experience.

Very disappointing service
PlumbersHad a burst pipe, called the service and was told WITHIN an hour waited 2 hours again told within ANOTHER HOUR plumber will come, waited for 2hr 50min.No one came.

Fixed it ok
PlumbersFixed the issues, but said more work is needed at least $7000 worth, was a bit upset when ask to give a quote and then shop around. They just assume they will get the job.
not happy with plumber
Plumbersnot impressed with the service. The technician was not very keen to rectify the problem. It was too hard for him and he was in a hurry to move on to the next job. Suppose to get a call back or email with a quote but to no avail. I called back myself but calls were not returned . I got it fixed it half the price quoted by RACV.

Silly policy
PlumbersHad a plumbing leak for dishwasher. Plumber diagnosed as broken machine so we had to replace it, fine. Scratched the side of the cabinet where the dishwasher is in, fine. Flooded my kitchen, fine. While he was there I asked if he could also fix a leaking tap, No he could not because it has to be one service per call. I had to call again and have another plumber assigned to me.
Had a gas leak for duct heating. Tradie they sent me did not know what to do so he just turned off the machine (not disconnect or anything safer, just switch off). If I wanted someone who knew what to do, they call it a specialist, I had to pay out of pocket.
I have been contacted by RACV already.

PlumbersBlocked pipes so called EHA which we had never taken advantage of before. Plumber arrived very timely but spent 30 mins to tell us he couldn't fix cos he didn't have right equipment. He estimated cost to get another plumber with right equipment approx $400. When new plumber was available, was then quoted over $500 cos it would then be after hours. Really disappointed at my first experience with EHA. Didn't see the value but will see what happens for my next emergency.
