Heaters Buying Guide
Our buying guide will explain which type of heater would suit you most, how much you can expect to pay for one, and which features are worth looking out for.
Regency Products are Junk
Absolute junk. Had two units for 5 years now, and every year has been the same when fall comes and we put new batteries in etc. Fire will not light, pilot light refuses to come on. Remote useless, batteries do not sit into space properly, so does not work. When I do eventually get the flame to operate (only manually not with remote or smart temp.) the bloody fan refuses to go off and I have to disconnect at fuse box!!!! DO NOT PURCHASE ANY OF REGENCY PRODUCTS>

Looks great, but no heat
Spent slot of money for a double sided wood fireplace (Regency Mansfield). Put loads of wood inside, but didn't didn't radiate much heat. If you could stand the smoke it produced a lot of heat with the door open. When I complained, many a time, they told me that I had the wood or not enough. Don't recommend this fire place or the device. Save yourself some money and buy a wood fire place from Buntings.

Sick of replacing fans every year, cannot turn up blows black smoke. regency 131 gas log
Once the unit was in, worked ok for a year, then bang fan blew up, replaced fan same thing lasted about a year, Got a new fan (2018) cost $275 put in lasted 10 minutes lucky under warranty just brought it. If you turn it up too much it smokes, black soot everywhere. LOOKS good but for the hassles I think to date 4fans have been fitted. I had an old cranker heater that was there for years, hardly ever played up, hotter, better fan, just looked old.
July 5th 2018 Update: part 2 of problem with regency 131 gas log fan problems.

moved for strip down to find problems of fans blowing up, on closer inspection found wires were exposed/burnt, no heat shielding. Just causing dead short, after talking to heater repairers found out that this happens constantly, and to fix all wires must be replaced, as well as new fan. Hoping this fixes problems. New unit the same cost just under 4000,so I want my moneys worth out of this one.Totally cheesed off.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Looks great -- but doesn't work -- keeps blowing out & hard to get repair.
Purchased this mid winter 2015. It was fine & fine winter 2016. Come winter 2017 -- it kept blowing out. Regency offered no help or support, saying unit is out of warranty. What!! A $4000 unit -- doesn't last 2 years!! After many, many, phone calls to find repair companies, (most would not cover the western suburbs of Melbourne - why do they sell it here then!!) I did find a few, who said nothing was wrong, cleaned the unit & made it work for a couple of weeks. Only for me to start the cycle again of trying to find repair men. Regency in betwee...Read more
n, were no help at all. Standard response...unit is out of warranty - nothing we can do. $1300+ in repair bills later. We left the unit unused until this winter (2018) and now unit will not start at all. Regency again -- no help. Steer clear of their products. They may look good, but prone to breaking down, The manufacturer will not offer any support at all. Costly mistake by us!Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

The pilot light has been blowing out since it was installed in Oct 16.. have had installer back multiple times who said he has done all he can and it’s still going out so called Regency spoke to man who liked to talk ‘at you’ but basically said it’s our problem .. they say they have checked the heater and it’s fine... Installer says he’s done all he can do and we STILL have a heater that keeps blowing itself ou...Read more

Looks good but disappointed in heat
Was told it would heat more than the space we have and have yet to have a warm room. We have a ceiling fan to bring the heat down and it just makes us colder. When I complained the store said it was a warranty issue. They sent a guy to look at it and he told us that our house was old and drafty and wrote that in his report. Still have not heard back from them. (2 weeks). Space is 42 sq meters, was told it would heat 61 sq meters. It doesn't even heat the 30 sq meters directly in front of the heater. My recommendation would be only buy it you want pretty but have other heat source.

REGENCY 131 DUD
First time I turned this heater on the house temp was 15 degrees. After 3 hours it was 18 degrees and that was with the fan on full, the flame at max and the remote control sitting on a coffee table 6 feet away.
Hmmm, I thought. Tried again another nite, house temp 18, after 3 hours, 21 degrees.
I would of thought that after an hour I would be in a t shirt and shorts but not to be, I was still in trackies and a jumper.
I have used portable gas heaters and been in homes where there were gas heaters and they all worked really well, this one is a dud....really disappointed and annoyed that I spent over $2000 for this piece of junk. I'm with peppers3, maybe replacing it with a wood burning heater would be a better idea.

Faulty Parts
When we got the Regency heater fan was faulty that was replaced, then 2 months out of warranty and fan switch goes. Heater is also not easy for the tradesman to work on very hard to get into, instructions very hard to follow to get to parts. I would not recommend this heater at all spend a bit extra in a upgrade and you will probably save in the long run. We had a rinnia for 20 years and it never missed a beat wish I'd listened to the old quote "If it ain't broke don't fix it"

Regency Gas Stoves customer service
Stay away from Regency products. They look beautiful and work well when they work. I have a Regency gas stove that is about 3 years old. When I purchased I purchased a blower. The blower died after the 1st year, had it replaced. The company that I purchased it from has since gone out of business. After trying to contact other dealers for 3 weeks, which is the only way you can get repair service, I contacted Regency directly. They were of no help. I have an open floor plan which makes the blower necessary and the stove almost useless without it. And 2 months later no resolution to my problem and no help from Regency except to keep trying to get a dealer to come out.

Poor heating, expensive gas bill!!!
Does not heat any where near as well as our Regency F38 in the other part of the house. It is so bad that we are going to replace the i31 with wood. The house we bought already had this heater installed and after receiving our first gas bill (#$%$) we are keen to be rid of this heater fast!!
Looks realistic
Terrible efficiency and heat output

Hi Peppers3.... I see you have a regency I-31 that your disapointed in.... Can i ask.... Does the fan come on at all? also is the flame adjustment set to high? Regarding the f-38 that fire is substatu... Read more
ally bigger in gas consumption also its free standing. This means that a free standing gas fire will x 3 its out put so 38 x 3 = 114m2 heating cappacity based on 2.4m cieling and insulation. Also climate is a big factor... the I 31 inbuilt you can only times its consumption by 2 eg 31 x 2= 62m2 heat capacity based on 2,4mtr ceiling and insulation. there are alot of factors with inbuilt gas fires as well.... I feel although you are frustrated with the fire in all fairness sounds like you were given the wrong information or its not working correctly. The I 31 Is an exceptional fire given its put in the rite situation..... Its like being angry at a little hyundi 4 cylinder car because it wont tow a 20 tonn load when really you needed a truck. there is nothing wrong with the car the salesman sold you, he just sold you the wrong vehicle..... Please call me on 0430165781 - All skills maintenance and gas im happy to chat to see if its working propperly =)Yes the fan works, the heat set just above low, no way would I crank it to high gas! It works and fully serviced just wood will work better. It's a dud in my opinion. Don't get defensive, I'm entitled to my opinion. :-)

I have a PG36 gas log fireplace that broke down on the 26/09/17. I have spent over $500 dollars trying to get it fixed and was told last year it would cost another $266 but no guarantee it would solve the problem.
I declined as I wasn't happy with the uncertainty. I recently had another gas fitter attend at a cost of $183 and was told it would cost another $864 to fix the problem, maybe! In total since the fire broke down, taking into account call out fees and repairs if I was to go ahead with the repairs I will have spent nearly $2000. Does this sound fair?
