DO NOT USE Tullermarine Rent a Bomb - DISHONEST
Terrible service. They mislead and make it look like they are next to the airport but you have to go on the highway and taxi to get there.
Despite informing of an early arrival they left my pregnant wife and baby daughter stranded at the Airport with no way to contact them until the opened at 9am. The man was smug and arrogant and said they don't pick people up despite giving that impression on their website. We had booked a car seat and car and after trying to contact them for over an hour and upon discovering that they were ages away from the airport my wife couldn't taxi there with a baby and NO CARSEAT ON A HIGHWAY!! They are a sham and will charge you extra for everything.

Terrible customer service - don’t go there
Totally unprofessional outfit. [name removed] the Franchisee, was offhand and rude, with no people/customer skills whatsoever. I complained to Rentabomb head office, but they couldn’t care less- avoid at all costs.

Excellent Customer Services Keeps Us Coming Back
We have rented cars from Rent a Bomb Tullamarine from time to time over the last 3 years. We have always found them to be accommodating, friendly and helpful. John in particular has always been courteous and gone the extra mile.
Thank you.
We will continue to rent from Rent a Bomb Tullamarine when we need a car.

Great service, very easy to deal with.
Rented a little corolla through rentabomb Preston and had no troubles at all. The car ran great and the customer service was fantastic. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking to rent a cheap car, $25 a day.

Do not use this company
Very poor experience with Rent a Bomb, wont be a return customer. Customer service was terrible, the process was difficult. Overall, the cheap rental did not justify using the company.

DONT USE THIS COMPANY - CARS ARE DANGEROUS & THEY SCAM FOR EXTRA COSTS
We had a Mistsibishi ASX booked with Thrifty for 30 days at a cost of $858. We changed the time of pick up due to Jetstar cancelling our flight. In turn Thrifty cancelled our original rate from $858 to $3017 For a lesser period of rental time)..!
Anyhow.. we chose not to continue with Thrifty at $3017.
We unfortunately chose "Rent a bomb" bad mistake.
[name removed] at Tullamarine has been rude, obstructive and condescending. He is not honest in his dealings and completely lies to our face.

Ok - you get what you pay for
Initially I went online and 'booked' a car from Tullamarine Airport. Their website is to say the least misleading as you think you have made a booking that exists but in reality it is only a booking request. You must contact the office to confirm the availability of cars.
This is what I did. I was told sorry there are no cars available. In addition, my booking request disappeared from their system even though I had an email confirming a car. So I had to email them that. I spoke to John at Melbourne Airport who organised a car from Prest...Read more
on which was far from ideal - however it was my only option. I told him this system is unprofessional and didn't look good. You must keep in mind these rent a bomb places are separate franchises which complicates everything. I then spoke to Kelly at Preston Rent a Bomb. She was very helpful and gave me a call to let me know a car was due in and she would confirm. Excellent communication and lovely person. She told me John had called her to say I had become agro on the phone and that I wanted a car from Preston which of course was false. The car came in and I picked it up. It was a Hyundai accent was intermediate upgrade as I was doing long drives out of Melbourne CBD, I had no problems whatsoever. The only issues where with tolls as you have to call East Link who never answers your calls - you can actually do this online too but it was quite complicated as other users had left $116 in unpaid invoices on the account. I just bought a 3 day pass. The only major issue was that every tyre on the car was of a different make and tread pattern. This is illegal in all states in Australia for obvious reasons.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Unreliable
Would literally cost you a bomb. Refuses to give an actual time frame for the claim to process and refuses to respond to my emails about the accident claim. Don’t bother with the trouble & disappointment. Definitely would not recommend.

Car filthy and unroadworthy
I booked a saver car for a day as my own car was at the mechanic. The car was filthy and crawling with ants. The seat belt was unroadworthy with a red tag visable saying replace belt. When I complained I was told I should have returned it for a change over. I wasn't able to because I needed to be somewhere. I was told I would get a discount on my next hire. I returned requesting a 8 day hire on their cheapest upgrade vehicle and was quoted $480 with an extra km allowance as a discount. This is exorbitant considering i found a newer car with unlimited km for $307 with another company. They told me they couldn't give me the cash discount promised when I complained. I have photos of the state of the car and will be reporting it.

Worst service ever
Using rent a bomb Richmond was the worst decision I have ever made. The most unprofessional experience, the staff member I dealt was, was rude and actually lied to my face. They allowed me to book a van online at their closing time, on my way I realised and saw their closing time, I then called them to say I would be 6 minutes late. They refused to stay open for 6 minutes while i got there - 6 minutes past my booking time for me to get my van, they just shut the shop and didn't call me back when she said she would. I had a major event the foll...Read more
owing day which I told her, and I needed that van. I have since called them for an explanation and they were nothing but rude. They should not be booking vans out on line at the time they are closing. Do not use this company. Thank god for Car Next Door i got home booked one with them. This was the worst experience I have ever experienced.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Go someplace else
Spoke to staff member twice on the phone a week before our trip to book. Confirmed to hire their 7 seater and gave all our details (dates, pick up time, drop off time and amounts due, contact numbers). On the day we were meant to pick up, we called an hour before to advise we were going to be half an hour late in picking up only to be told my booking had not been recorded and that their one and only 7 seater had been given away to someone else the day before. Was told by the lady on the phone that "I should've called the day before to confirm"....Read more
At no point in the 2 conversations I had with the previous staff member was I told that I was SUPPOSED to confirm, making me feel as if it was MY fault. So we ended up having to drive 2 cars to accommodate a family of 6 to our trip 3.5 hours away because they stuffed up. While they offered to have the car returned an hour earlier by the person they lent it to, it would've been too late as we would've gotten to our destination late in the afternoon. Next time, we will pay the extra money and go somewhere else.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Save yourself the aggravation. Rude aggressive staff and lousy cars that often break down while you are on the road. Go to BAYSWATER / NO BIRDS in William Street Kings Cross where you can rent a no older than one year Toyota Corolla for $25 a day- same price as a heap of junk from rent-A-Bomb. And at least the staff are courteous plus no little games like trying to charge you for dents that were there when you hired your bomb. Are their cars roadworthy? Difficult to know.
Rent-a-wreck pull one of the oldest cons in the book : they accept every booking but in fine print it says you must confirm on the day. When you get there there is no car available except a more expensive "model". Same old heap of junk. In Mascot I was threatened by the manager and who said "everything is on cam" as though I should be frightened. I said "good it's proof of how abusive you are".
False economy : you spend far more in time, money and aggravation than with a legitimate car rental firm.
I know of no other business where such rudeness is tolerated. Even second hand car salesmen have to be polite these days. I've put in a complaint to the Dept of Fair Trading and I recommend others do as well for this reason : something is seriously wrong that these clunkers are allowed on the road with so many obvious faults like dodgy steering & brakes. You can't get away with that when trying to MOT your own 6 year old car let alone a 20 year old clunker.
Also insurance : unless you have your own fully comprehensive insurance that covers you in any car I would NEVER trust them with paying the insurance.
Some people may have a reasonable experience with them- the odds are some customers will be OK but Rent-a-Wreck have far too many complaints and being in travel I've heard a lot more in person than we read on here.
And the reason I went there in the first place was to check out car-rentals to advise customers so they are on our black list as dangerous, abusive & costly.
We also had an employee successfully hire a Rent-A-Wreck and took it to our local garage. The mechanic simply could not believe how it passed MOT as the serious mechanical faults did not happen since being passed but must of been there for years.
# One of the oldest tricks with questionable firms is deducting costs for no good reason. Let's face, they can hit you up for an extra $100 on your credit / debit card and you have no choice but to pay it and trying to legally pursue that back through the courts is never going to happen.
