Only if you like wasting water and tepid showers

    published

Agreed with the other 1 star posts - this item should not be available for sale as it does not do what it purports to do. With the intention of having hot water on demand as an environmental choice, it negates any energy saving benefit with an agregious waste of water - which I hear is a pretty precious commodity in Australia. The unit is mounted on the back wall of our main floor powder room, and I have yet to wash my hands with anything resembling hot water. Taking a shower results it running it for 90 seconds on full hot before it warms, then you get peaks and valleys of varrying degrees of water, the warmest lasting for only 20 seconds. There should be a recall on these Australia wide.

Just off warranty and broken down

    published

Purchased Rheem 27 brand new. Just over 3 years now broke down at the peak of winter night and no longer covered by warranty. Called Rheem and greeted by a very unenthusiastic reps. Cost just to get someone to inspect is $350 minimum, for an appointment a few days later. I should have spent a bit more for more respectable brands.

    Died after warranty expired

    published

We had the Rheem 27 for 3 and a half years and it worked flawlessly, until it threw in the towel 6 months after the warranty was up. Rheem service guy said the circuit board had gone and it would cost us $700 for a new one. $700! Ridiculous. Advised to spend a bit more and put in a whole new unit with a new warranty. This replaced a 13 year old gas storage unit that had never given us an ounce of trouble. Avoid if you can. Service guy was excellent though, replacing the unit same day, $1250 later.
