Firstly I would check that the shower outlets are within Rinnai specifications.
Secondly replace the shower tapwashers.
If all fails then call Rinnai Service Agent for a needed Service call.
Have you recently replaced the shower outlets
Without the complete picture of your fault I can only make a keep it simple stupid aprouch.

Hi Rosetta S,

Thanks for the question.

As Peter Kothstein has kindly mentioned, Rinnai Australia agree and recommend checking the shower outlets and replacing shower tap washers.

If the above does not resolve the issue we recommend a service call to check that the water flow servo valve is working and check the incoming gas pressure.

Hello Mark,

A Rinnai 16 is recommended for a single bathroom.

If you intend to do renovations may I suggest you purchase a Rinnai Infinity 20 or B20 which is recommended for big 1 bathroom Home up to 2 bathrooms.
The difference is approximately $100 between a B16 to a B20.
The gas consumption of a Rinnai B16 is 124 MJ/hr and a Rinnai B20 is 156 MJ/hr.
Ensure that your gas supply can deliver the minimum gas consumption or the unit will not work to specifications

Ensure your Plumber/Gasfitter gets a minimum of 1.13KPA at the gas connection test point or the unit will not work to specifications.
Commissioning of the unit is the key to years of trouble free operation.

Rinnai Australia now offers extended warranty on heat exchanger subject to you subscribe to Rinnai to carry out a Rinnai technician Service every 5 years, so for a builder's series unit 5 and 10 years extending heat exchanger warranty to 15 years on part only.

If you get a 60 degree unit, a controller is required for the bathroom to comply with 50 degree Australian Standards.
2 or more controllers installed extending your parts and labour warranty by 2 years to 5 years.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact me.

We have had no power for three days and therefore no hot water. As there is no pilot light for infinity 24, is there any way to manually light it?

Hi Peter H,

Thanks for the question.

As the infinity is fitted with an electrical ignition, power is required. Once the power is restored the unit will commence operation when a tap is opened.

Infinity 32 Enviro

Hi, I am planning to install Rinnai infinity Enviro but unsure which size to choose. We have 2 bathrooms and uses hot water more than average. Can someone suggest which size best work for us, 26 or 32?

Peter.K.

Based on bathrooms alone you can technically install a Infinity 26L which has a gas consumption of 199MJ/hr.

A 32L is Morely used in Extra Large multi- storey residential properties.

Word of warning insure your Gasfitter gets 1.13 kPa at the units test screw or your unit will not work to specifications.

We have an older infinity 16 heater, and it cuts in and out during showering. It is very sensitive to temperature adjustments- if you want a really hot shower its ok- if you want just warm it cuts out. I think it may have something to do with the incoming water temperature. Any suggestions? Is there a sensor I can disable? Thsnks

Hi Stuart,

Thank you for your question.

We would recommend checking the cold water filter as it may require a clean.
If the unit is running on LPG we recommend contacting your local plumber to check, or if the unit is running on Natural Gas we recommend contacting your gas retailer to check the supply.

If you have any further enquires, please contact our Technical Helpdesk team on 1300 555 545 option 3 for assistance.

I have water dripping from my rinnai 20 heater what can I do please

1 answer
Rinnai
Rinnai A.Rinnai

Thanks for the question Bob, if the water is coming directly from the unit and not the connections leading to it, there may be an issue with the heat exchanger. We would recommend booking a service call to have the unit assessed. In the meantime, if you can, isolate the water supply to the unit to prevent further damage,

Manaaki

Infinity 24

I can hear the unit igniting or starting then suddenly stops. It heats the water for a second then switches off instantly. I try again and it always starts but doesn’t stay on. It’s as if there is either no gas going in for it to burn-which it has a full tank or the ignition to heat the water cuts out. I have tried many of the troubleshooting tips but none has worked. Does anyone know what Else I can try before I need to call a plumber. Thank you

Belle

Infinity 26

The water cycles from hot to cold to hot again and continues in this fashion, it’s very unpleasant showering as a result.

1 answer
Rinnai
Rinnai A.Rinnai

Thanks for the question Belle, water fluctuation usually occurs when too much cold water is added to the shower reducing the water flow from the unit. This can be resolved with a water controller where you can specify the temperature you wish to maintain. Alternatively try turning the hot water on first and slowly adding in cold water to retain the correct flow.

Our technical help desk can help you further on 1300 555 545 option 3.

Infinity 26

Hi, I have an Infinity 26 with two internal controllers. Recently the control panels have started to blink on and off, and the temperature for hot water and bath fill both default to 40 and can only be raised up higher by persistent button pushing, but then they drop back to 40. I have turned off power to the controller for a few minutes, hoping that would reset it, but no luck. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Infinity 24

I bought a new controller for my Infinity 24. It is the BC 100 V deluxe controller. Unfortunately the Infinity 24 is not listed as a compatible system for this controller and it's not working. I plugged it in where the old controller went, and though the lights are on I can't control temperature using the new device. The small kitchen panel still works though. Is there a different controller that would be compatible?

1 answer
Rinnai
Rinnai A.Rinnai

Hi Annie,

Any heaters manufactured prior to January 2004 are not compatible with Deluxe Controllers due to the power consumption required by the advanced technology, which is why the lights display, but not any of the functions. While the MC601Q does not have the features of the Deluxe Controller, the technology is compatible with the Infinity 24.

Thanks,

Mine is about 17 years old and is now not maintaining temp (hot to warm and back again). I have cleaned the inlet water filter and removed the water re-stricter from my shower head, which worked fine until recently and when removed made no difference. I have also listened to the gas flow during operation and no fluctuation noticed. We also have a temp controller in the bathroom. Wondering if it hot water unit needs replacing. Any idea what is going on? If I need to, do you recommended replacement model?
