Hi Max P,

Thanks for the question, If no taps are turned on there quite possibly could be a leak, unless the unit is solar and the pump is running or frost valves leaking.

We would recommend a service call to find out more detail. Please contact us on 1300 555 545 for a service booking or alternatively you may book online following the link provided https://www.rinnai.com.au/support-resources/online-service-booking/.

Hi bob. I got a plumber out and turned out it was actually my toilet which had a leak. I thought it was the boiler as they are close together.

Hi
Ignition on the unit is intermittent, sometimes it lights up, sometimes not. Removing the gas line-in and reconnecting it straight away is the only solution at the moment. Air lock, perhaps?

Our unit is approx 14 years old and we are now having trouble adjusting the temperature. It won't let me set it below 37 degrees and if you turn on the cold water up to about half way the hot water goes off and you have to turn off the cold water and wait for the water to heat again. Very frustrating. Wouldn't be so bad if it was winter but at the moment we don't want really hot showers.

Hi Maureen S,

Thanks for the question. The issue may be related to elevated incoming water temperatures, may we suggest reducing the temperature to 42/40 degrees and test if this is successful. If the issue continues please contact our technical help desk on 1300 555 545 for further assistance.

Thanks,
Rinnai Australia.

Thanks for the quick response. I have dropped the temperature to 37 degrees but that hasn't helped. I can't get it to go any lower, should it go below this?

Rinnai
Rinnai A.Rinnai

Hi Maureen S,

Thanks for the question. As mentioned previously the incoming water temperatures may be elevated considering the current climate. Given the age of the unit, it may require a service call as the water sensors and filter may need to be replaced.

Please forward your contact details by private message and we can have a technical help desk representative contact you directly or alternatively contact the technical help desk on 1300 555 545 for further assistance.

We have the same problem and I found the technical dept unhelpful. The person spoke in technical terms that I didn’t fully understand. The only solution I have found is to have another hot tap running at the same time which is unsatisfactory as it is a waste of precious resources.

We have a Rinnai Infinity 26 water heater. It is 11 years old. For the last year it has had a problem of not heating the water all the time. I can be having a shower & all of a sudden it will go cold. Sometimes if I turn the tap off, then on again, it will start to heat again. Do you have an answer as to why this may be happening? It’s in our holiday house, at the beach, so doesn’t get used constantly.

Rinnai A.Rinnai

Thanks for the question Sue. It may be an issue with water flow through the unit which can be restricted by a few things. Checking the filter on the bottom of the unit for debris or build up, or in the shower head. Our technical team can advise how to clear the filter and are available on 1300 555 545 option 3.

Firstly I would check that the shower outlets are within Rinnai specifications.
Secondly replace the shower tapwashers.
If all fails then call Rinnai Service Agent for a needed Service call.
Have you recently replaced the shower outlets
Without the complete picture of your fault I can only make a keep it simple stupid aprouch.

Hi Rosetta S,

Thanks for the question.

As Peter Kothstein has kindly mentioned, Rinnai Australia agree and recommend checking the shower outlets and replacing shower tap washers.

If the above does not resolve the issue we recommend a service call to check that the water flow servo valve is working and check the incoming gas pressure.

Infinity 26

The water cycles from hot to cold to hot again and continues in this fashion, it’s very unpleasant showering as a result.

1 answer
Rinnai
Rinnai A.Rinnai

Thanks for the question Belle, water fluctuation usually occurs when too much cold water is added to the shower reducing the water flow from the unit. This can be resolved with a water controller where you can specify the temperature you wish to maintain. Alternatively try turning the hot water on first and slowly adding in cold water to retain the correct flow.

Our technical help desk can help you further on 1300 555 545 option 3.

Hi, I have an Infinity 26 with two internal controllers. Recently the control panels have started to blink on and off, and the temperature for hot water and bath fill both default to 40 and can only be raised up higher by persistent button pushing, but then they drop back to 40. I have turned off power to the controller for a few minutes, hoping that would reset it, but no luck. Any suggestions? Thanks.
