Good old Weet Bix gone bad.

published

Don't understand what has happened to Weet Bix? It might say "Original" on the box, but in reality, they are anything but. Weet Bix have been my favorite cereal for over 60 yrs, and now very disappointed with the product.
About 6 months ago I bought a box and found about a quarter of them had crumbled in the box prior to being opened and most of the rest broke up on handling. I was lucky if half of them were mainly intact.
I put it down to a one off situation but boxes bought since then were not much better.

Afraid I will be shopping for another brand next time.
It is only a matter of time before Sanitarium lose their market.

Purchased in November 2021 at Coles.

Not what they used to be.

published

As a former 40 year plus buyer of weetbix they are not on the shopping list any more. The fall apart and disintegrate when taking them out of the box. When the box is empty you are left with a large bowl of crumble. Very disappointing and looks like a common complaint that appeares to be being ignored. Any other similar product does not crumble as much as my former favourite cereal.

Purchased at Woolworths for $5.

Crumbling Apart

published

The product formula to produce Weetbix has changed creating an inferior atrocious product. They just fall apart in the box. Wont be buying any more. Am changing to Uncle Tobies as the bix stay together and don't crumble away.

Purchased in June 2020.

Crumbly weebix

published

The Weet-Bix of today are so much different to what was supplied 18 months ago.
The last box I bought upon opening looked like it was used as a football all crumbly and broken.
Wheat biscuits from Coles a better product and cheaper. Never buying Weet-Bix originals again unless they can reproduce the Weet-Bix of old.

Purchased in June 2020 at Coles for $3.50.

What the heck happened mate?

published

Been eating weetbix for 30 years. They are no longer edible. They don’t even soak up the milk anymore lol. The texture is different, they fall apart really easily and just doesn’t taste like a weetbix.

It’s almost like the kind of weetbix you would expect to get in a third world country. Shockingly poor quality.

Purchased in January 2020 at Coles for $2.59.

Have they changed or just a bad batch?

published

These Weet Bix aren't too nice to eat anymore. The texture is way off, now they're just gritty, crumbly, and crushed bits of wheat pressed into a brick.

Purchased in January 2020 at Woolworths for $5.

What a shame...

I agree with the other complaints that Weet bix has become crumbly. They have become less dense & thinner and are impossible to cut now. I’ll try other product to see if better.

weetbix, forget it !

published

Weetbix has gone backwards because of the almighty dollar. Packaging, breaking up, thinner, and less per packet
One used to be able to butter and add vegemite. Now just falls apart.. I am now looking for a better product !

Weetbix blends not great - advertising and marketing atrocious

I love plain weetbix. Having some reality show nobodies market the new blends range is SO OUT OF TOUCH for Sanitarium. They obviously have no idea. No weetbix blends ever!

Overrated

published

I don't like weetbix. I don't like how the cereal gets soggy almost immediately when you add milk. The cereal is also not as good for you as other cereals on the market. You can certainly do worse, but for me I choose to avoid this cereal and opt for a bowl of oatmeal.
ok as snack, no milk.
lower in fibre than others, way too soggy with milk, like eating wet toilet paper.

Found a foreign object in my Weetbix

published

I came across a hard foreign object which was the thickness of paper and and about 3cm x 1cm in my Weetbix on 29/8/11.

It was investigated by the local council health officer who recommended I contact Sanitarium direct. They identified it as "product build up" from the mill knives and basically dismissed it as "unlikely to be harmfull to my health".

I am put off Sanitarium products for life now.

Rubbish found inside the cereal

I found the same thing in my weetbix this morning. When I took a closer look it appeared to be paper. I will not be eating weetbix again any time soon...

Much better for you than most other cereals. 2-3 biscuits per sedentary adult would be adequate. Perhaps even 6 or 8 for an adult with very high activity.
