Shocking business dont use these people.
These people have no idea I used to be an audio installer for may years. I had a parrot car kit installed by them and had nothing but problems. Went back twice they tried to fix the powering down on its own. I since removed the unit and installed it myself on my new car and found they had bent the power plug too far and terminals were disconnecting. Have been back again now with only 1 month warranty left and they won't do anything about it because I installed it myself this is after being insulted by the older man there who replaced the cable ...Read more

Pathetic
Dropped my car with no interior or door trims for a new stereo fit out easy job for them told 3hrs took 7hrs end result lots of errors.I then took it to a sound pro for under $200 its 100% tuned and all connected properly.My lesson all ways google the shop and read reviews before you walk in i learned the hard way.

Booked a new radio for my car waited all day and no one showed
booked in yesterday for a new car radio, due out today at 1pm still hadnt shown by 4pm, stayed at home all day on my day off, called the office and was told the installer had fallen off the planet and they could come out again for another 8 days.
One very upset customer, go to jay cars thye were great.

Rubbish business - Stop ripping of honest Australians.
I purchased a Highlander DVD recorder and apart from buying a faulty product, the store was rude and unhelpful when it came to honoring their warrantee. As a result I consulted the fair-trading department as well as legal advice and as a result I got my money back. Honestly, it didn’t need to go that far strathfield. Make no mistake, strathfield car radio is a poor customer service, poor product company which I’m sure will be out of business soon enough for ripping of hard working Australians who simply want good products and service.
The only positive thing that came out of the deal was learning that the dept. of fair trading will help keep business honest in Australia.
Very bad customer service, poor products, waste of money and time.

Fantastic customer service
I have purchased everything from this store. That's in my car and have no problems with them. They have friendly staff. Have products to suit any budget. If you find a product cheaper they are more than happy to match it. They are the only store in Liverpool that don't rip you of for installation of all products

Staff a lazy, products poor. Don't get sucked into any 'offers' they have. Awful, just awful. Its been 14 days now waiting on a repair and my item, it is still in the shop waiting for 'authorization' to get sent back to the 'head office' to get fixed!! Do not use this Shop! If i had been in they would of forgotten it was there.
Just pray that any purchase you make does not break down

unprofessional head office who do not stand by replacing doa products within 7 days. its no wonder why this business has changed owners 4 times in 10 years. its a strait out dud formula with no benifit to the end user or team. just give it up.

Purchased a TomTom Rider GPS for my motorcycle from the Penrith NSW Store back in Oct 2006 (before the store closed).
1 week after purchase the GPS bracket failed/broke whilst doing (80km/h), took it back, they fussed about & eventually replaced the faulty bracket.
Another week later, halfway into an interstate trip the GPS completely died.

In August 06 I purchased a PVR from Strathfield. In November 06 it failed so I returned it to Strathfield for repair. After a month of waiting/stories I wrote to Strathfield and demanded a refund as the unit had not been returned and neither Strathfield or the manufacturer could advise me of where the unit was. o Strathfield demanding a refund. The same day Strathfield contacted my wife and whilst she requested a refund the store suggested a that a 'store credit' only would be given. Today my wife visited Strathfield and specifically requested a refund. The store manager advised that this was against Strathfield policy and they would only provide another product or give a 'store credit'. As a result my faulty twin tuner PVR has been replaced with a single tuner PVR (much the same according to the store manager - can't quite figure out how I can now watch one channel whilst recording another - and also explained what a good deal it was as the box is marked $399 but we can have for $170 - actually thought that they had sold for this price for some time now. They do have twin tuner PVR's but sorry out of stock). Due to the new PVR being cheaper, my wife was also given a $100 store credit (well she actually had to give them $2 to make it an even $100 because they couldn't handle the odd number). I hate to think what catch will be associated with reclaiming the $100 store credit if we ever try (given that I've only ever shopped at Strathfield once prior to the PVR purchase it may be along time) All pretty much fed up by the Strathfield run around and I'm now waiting for an answer from Qld Fair Trading on how legitimate Strathfields refund policy is. I have bought several products from strathfield but most of them have been lower quality items such as Sony's car audio products that used to offer good value for money.
I bought Sony front speakers, 12 inch sub, and stereo deck for my car. The price was extemely cheap and I am still using the speakers and sub. The deck was changed with something of better quality at a later date.

I have only dealt with Strathfield one, when I purchased a $200 digital camera and a $70 sd card. Yes, they very polite and helpful when we bought the stuff, but as soon as the card stopped being read within the 12 month period, we took it back and they were the complete opposite. They did not want to help us, and told us that it was too much hassle for them to get the receipts from hq as they were all stored in large boxes.
I have had a very horrible experience with them, and I would hope no-one else falls into their trap.

Nothing really. They were polite at fitst but their only motivation was to get a sale regardless of whether it was appropriate or not
They were very misleading. I asked them if they could fix the CD player in my car. They said they could install a better unit that would rectify the skipping problem. I agreed. New CD player worked fine but they disabled all the stereo controls on the steering wheel. Then they wanted me to pay another $200 to get volume control only. They refused to refund so I'm taking them to Tribunal.

Strathfield have wide range of electronic products to choose from. The range of car audio systems is quite decent, although the quality of their installations is very average. They have a variety of products to suit different budgets, but their prices are not as competitive as other stores such as JB Hi-fi or Bing Lee. It is worth having a look at Strathfield to see what they have on offer and to get an idea of the price of a product, but you're most likely going to get a better deal elsewhere.

Your Store, Victoria Point, QLD, I wanted to buy a Road Angel Nav 3000, It had a yellow ticket on it Was $398 Now $348, I went to buy it and the sales girl took the ticket of and said no not at that price.I complained to the Brisbane Manager and he was very rude on the phone, I said I will be sending an Email to Head office, he said go for it, and would give me his Name.

Refund Policy is appalling! Crazy! Almost impossible to return/exchange anything. :( Very unfortunate such a large retailer can't offer a better policy. I dont really like shopping here and wont do it again unless I have to.

When she returnt home we found that the amp was incorrect for the Bass spaekers she also purchased, upon which I took her back to the store to exchange for the RIGHT one. I wish I had read the other reviews before my purchase from the Broadmeadows Vic store. Purchased a set top box which would not store channels. Returned it to the store who did not have a replacement but was offered a more expensive unit at additional cost or a store credit. When I requested a refund I was advised that they do not give refunds. This is despite what is clearly stated on the receipt & a is in breach of Section 75a of the Trades Practices Act 1974. sting & I was initially advised it can take weeks. The shop assistant said that if they find a fault I would need to retun to the store to fill out the application for a refund which would be processed by head office. This was despite the fact that they were aware I live 80km's from the store! It appears to me that the objective is firstly to deny your rights and if that fails to make it is difficult as possible to obtain a refund. The next bisiness day I e-mailed my complaint to Strathfieled head office & was subsequently phoned by the Store Manager. He confirmed the unit was faulty & following much discussion, a cheque was received from Strathfield head office a week or so later. I took my son's mobile phone to be repair three times, the third time I went to collect it, they couldn't find the phone. They lost it. They keep saying to me that someone collected the phone and they are going to investigate it and call me back and they never do. My advice is, don't go there again. The service is horrible.

I agree with some of the reviewers below. Strathfield needs to be more approachable and competitive. Recently I have seen less of their advertisements and flyers, maybe they have dropped the ball and thus the store is nearly forgotten. To be honest, Strathfield doesnt even pop into my head unless I pass the store. My experience with them werent that impressive either. I have asked for a price beat on JbHifi speakers and they were not really interested to win it or equal them. On the other hand JBHiFi was willing to beat it and offered some free goodies. That says it all, I am not angry with Strathfield but just not impressed.

I bought a digital camera from Miranda fair Strathfield and i decide to change it becoz its not good enough for my PC so i went back and ask to exchange it for something else they give exchange it and not only that they give me the difference aswell, second time i went again not happy wd the product and they gave me the full refund. The labanese owner is so nice.
Its in Miranda mall and the arabic guy is so coprative

I am about to get an Audio upgrade from Strathfield in Brisbne on Monday. From what i've read on here about them, they don't rate too highly. Can anyone inform me of any problems or good features with the Brisbane business before i spend 1,600 bucks?

Can't speak for Brisbane as I'm not from there.
The guys here (SCR Sydney) are pretty good, but every car has it's issues especially new ones as car manufacturers don't consider after market installations as part of their build process.
My advice is to make sure you take pictures before and after of your car, and ensure that you have something in writing that clearly defines who will cover damages if any are caused. This way you can clearly demonstrate a problem (before and after) and have agreement at the outset on who is responsible.
Don't just get a hand shake and verbal commitment.
Also ensure that if you are having any leads from the batter run, that they use proper heat proof covering or run it behind the firewall covering in the engine bay, otherwise they wires melt and short out.
Look at Dynamat on the doors as well, not just the speaker area. Makes a big difference to acoustics, and keeps road noise out.. Even when no playing tunes.
Thanks Noah. Have had the job done and everything is ok. I hovered over the bloke and It took him 7 hours to do it, but he did use all the correct gauge shielded wiring, especially to the Sub. New speakers went back in where the original one's were, with a slight modification and had to drill a hole to mount each crossover because the panels wouldn't go back on. Had to pull the back seat out to run the Sub wiring through to the hatch, but a good professional job. You're right about after market. The only place he could fit the Speaker Amp was under the left front seat, which makes it awkward to get at it to set the levels but that's really no problem. Strange there should be so many bad reports, unless this bloke knew exactly what he was doing. Thanks for you're answer mate.
