I have always love using this machine. However, while I was about to froth the milk from the wand, there was only a little pressure coming out. The machine was extremely hot like it was smelling plastic.

Purchased a Caf Espresso II machine in 2 months ago. It was working fine for first 2-3 weeks. Haven't used it since. Got it out today and it only comes out in a drip and lots of steam. Have cleaned group head and tried to descale but water doesn't even really get sucked up from reservoir. Has the machine had it already??

Hi, I’ve enjoyed my Sunbeam Cafe Espresso II for a couple of years, and it taught me how to make a great coffee! I de-scaled it about 4 weeks ago. I think it needs a deeper clean because the water is not pouring out from the top basket like it used to when flushing it. Any tips for more thorough cleaning?

I'm having issues with the steam pressure coming out of the steam wand. I've had the machine for 6 months. Anyone else have an issue with this?

Customer C.Sunbeam

Hi Emerald L.,
So sorry to hear this. Has the machine been cleaned recently? If not please run the cleaning cycle. Another trick is to run the steam pump for 10 seconds -lift the water tank out for a further 10 seconds - while the unit is still steaming and then forcibly replace the water tank. If these two suggestions do not resolve and you have your receipt - please return the EM3820 to the store of purchase for a warranty replacement. Kind regards Sunbeam,

Sounds like the small pin hole in the stainless steel cup is blocked

Sunbeam
Customer C.Sunbeam

Hi Kellie F.,
Thank you for contacting Sunbeam. Does it do this with both 1 cup and 2 cup? The coffee grind may be too fine. The ideal texture of the grind is castor sugar- sand like. Hope this assists. You can also contact Sunbeam Customer Care on 1300 881 861 for further assistance. Kind Regards, Sunbeam

I've had the exact same thing happen. It's definitely a blocked up hole in the portafilter. It needs a good clean.
1. Take out the insert of the portafilter and let it sit in boiling soapy water for about 20mins.
2. Put a little bit of dishwashing liquid in the portafilter instead of coffee and then run it through enough to fill a cup. Should see tiny pieces of old coffee residue fall out.
3. Run clean fresh water to rinse out the remaining soap and coffee.
LAST RESORT: Drill a marginally larger hole and repeat cleaning steps. Doesn't seam to affect the performance and never got reblocked but it will definitely void warranty.

Ours didn’t have a plastic smell but we found the motor died twice in the two models we bought. We were disappointed with this product.

I received this machine as a gift only a week ago and for a cheaper machine it makes wonderful coffee!!! I am noticing a fairly constant drip from the group head resulting in the drip tray filling up and overflowing. Is it normal when the machine is off and the portafilter removes for it to drip like this?

We just bought a sunbeam cafe espresso 2 machine, which we’ve had in the past, and even after flushing water through and making 5 coffees, they still have a plastic like taste. Any further recommendations to get passed the ‘new’ plastic taste?

Ours was originally weak and a little sour. Better results after a week. We now put in about 4mm hot water then the coffee.

Hi Soph M,
Thank you for contacting Sunbeam. You can try removing the water reservoir and and filling it up with a mixture of water and pure lemon juice. Leave it over night and then rinse well next morning. If this does not resolve please return it to the store of purchase with your receipt.

Is the water tank full? Is the lever on the front all the way over to the right? Can you hear the pump running? Sorry to suggest it, but it is switched on at the wall plate? Yes, thought so! And is the yellow light on or off? As far as the inability to twist the cup off, I wonder if you fitted it at a slight angle (easily done) so it jammed. With enough force you should be able to turn it and remove . Then make sure it’s straight (horizontal) next time you fit it.

Water tank is full, lever is all the way, switched on wall and machine, pump runs loud than goes quite,
my husband is quite built but still cannot remove the cup off, this has happened once before and I have had hot coffee explode everywhere.

Hi I have just refilled my water tank but the hot water coming through the where the coffee comes out is coming out very slowly in drips. Any ideas?

1 answer

Customer C.Sunbeam

Hi Carrie F, it could be your pipes may be blocked and may need a descale. You can do this by putting a vinegar/ water solution or a descaling tablet in the tank and giving the machine a good flush. Please refer to your instruction book for further descaling instructions or you can download from sunbeam.com.au

I have been using my machine happily for 9 months but layely as soon as l turnit on and use it hot water leaks out from beneath. Annoying, what is wrong with it?

1 answer

Hot water from underneath associated with altered pour from the group handle (less pressure and therefore more difficulty pushing water through your coffee) means there's a seal at the water inlet to the thermoblock (as in the sunbeam espresso 2) which is now leaking. I haven't found a fix yet (my machine is out of waruntee). It should be an easy fix - just need the replacement o-rings - which I can't find online. If in waruntee, go back to Sunbeam.

Hi, machine is less than 60 days old and makes a lovely coffee, although the group head has always been a bit clunky in fitting in. With the lower-end machine I guess you do not expect smooth perfection. Today though no coffee came out, and I found that the group head, while it looks correctly positioned, is jammed in the machine. I cannot remove it. Thoughts?
