Hello Lisa L.
I haven't come across this problem before, giver your local repair agent a call to see if this is repairable. We have a directory of repair service agents, find your local agent here: https://www.sunbeam.com.au/en/Service-Agent-Locator/

You will not be able to fix this problem, it is a design fault and new beaters will be chewed out in a very short time.

Have you got the wrong size bowl for the slider setting at the front of the mixmaster?? That little thing at the front that you can slide one way or the other. That is for the different sized bowls.

I inherited this mixer from a friend and I'm not sure how long ago she bought it (probably quite a while if I'm honest), but the speeds do not vary - it's all FAST.

Cheap and easy way for a fix please?

I have an older bench mixer MX001G and this happens to me too. From numbers 1-12, it's all the same speed (the fastest). Very annoying when you just need to combine ingredients and don't need to beat egg whites.

Hi,
There are a couple of different things inside of the mixer, one is on the switch which is either a resistor or a governor capacitor. It is round like a C size battery and has a coating on it. The older ones had like a porcelain type coating. I believe this is what controls the speeds. Dave at davesrepair.com here in the US can probably help you. He has an email address on his website which you can ask him questions. Sometimes he takes a few days to reply but he did reply to some of my questions within a couple days. He may have the part/parts you need....Also there is a YouTube channel called vintage mixers and more. The gentleman that runs that channel fixes things like that and he may be able to help as well. You can ask him questions in the comment section of his videos. He has a lot of videos about different mixers and such and he may just have one about your particular model. Just search your make and model of mixer to see if there are any videos of your particular one. Hope this helps

Bought it months ago and used it twice. The bowl stopped turning when i tried to use the kneading, making a bread. Solutions?

It may depend on quantity of dough and bowl size. I normally do 500g of dough in large bowl. In the small bowl it shakes around more but my bowls have never stopped turning.I suggest you contact Sunbeam.

Should the mixmaster rotate the bowl while mixing? If so please show me how?

Yes it should, if it is locked in correctly. If it is locked in correctly and it doesn't rotate then you have a problem which will need a service technician. If they are able to fix this then you're lucky!
