Luke warm coffee, too bright light and bright flashing light on auto, no I don't like this coffee ma

published

The coffee is not hot at all, you can drink black coffee straight after the brew, using milk makes it worse. If you live in a open space, in the evening is the LCD control panel very bright and can not be dimmed. If you set it on auto operation for the morning, a bright light flashes all night and can not be dimmed or turned off.

As good as they get in this price range

published

I wanted a drip filter coffee machine and I got one. It does what it says: makes good filtered coffee, required minimal cleaning (steel filter), and has a timer function to have your coffee ready when you wake up.
The only thing I would prefer is to be able to make a smaller amount of coffee at a time (minimum is 4 small cups), but I have found all machines have this limitation.

Not bad for average coffee

published

If you like this particular tasting ground coffee you'll probably like this machine since you just put the coffee in the drip filter paper, top up the water and press go. I'm not a big fan of this type of coffee since to me it's only a slight step up from instant coffee. I much prefer a decent quality pod machine. One positive is you can make about 8 cups of coffee and leave it for 2 hours to stay hot.

Follow up from first review

published

My coffee tastes great, the machine works really well and looks good
It's easy to clean and I'm delighted with it
I've had it a few months now and can't fault it. I see some people have said the coffee is not hot, mine is always perfect (I do drink it black so that might make a difference)
Filters are hard to find now so I hope it lasts a good long time

Short lifespan, not recommended

published

The coffee tastes fine as far as drip coffee goes. And the timer is a plus. However, it didn't last long at all (not even through its warranty). There aren't many choices in these kinds of machines in Australia but I'd recommend looking for another brand if you can. These are clearly junk as my experience and the other reviews suggest.

It's ok but not great

published

There aren't a lot of drip filter coffee machines around so I had to buy this one. Coffee tastes good but is luke warm & needs to be microwaved to get to a drinkable temperature. It's easy to use & clean. Don't want or need a machine that costs more because it can be set to make coffee & can't see the point in this apart from increasing the price. Much preferred a previous model they used to make for half the price. It also made better, hotter coffee. When I want coffee I turn it on manually & wait a whole few minutes for it to be ready. Second one I've bought & first one lasted just over 12 months - a few days past 12 month replacement warranty.

Great coffee

published

This machine makes good coffee. Since I drink black the temperature is fine but if you add milk it would make it too cold. The best thing about this machine? It doesn't drip. Every other coffee maker I've had over the years drips when you pour the coffee. this one doesn't. For that alone I'd give it high marks.

very happy

published

this is easy to use, easy to clean, its great setting the timer to have coffee ready upon waking. it was leaking which led me to troubleshoot online and found it was only the dripper that needs to be cleaned occasionally. as a black coffee drinker the temperature was perfect. taste depends on brand of coffee and number of scoops

Lukewarm coffee

published

This machine looks good and functions well, but fails in the most basic function - delivering a HOT cup of coffee. We have used it for a week now after replacing our very old Breville unit, and at best it delivers a lukewarm cuppa which needs microwaving and at worst it is tepid and undrinkable. Terrible purchase.

disappointed

published

Should have read the reviews before rushing into it. Had a plunger and before that a drip filter machine. which I was very happy with. The coffee tastes plasticy, will try filter, but also not very hot, we have to heat the milk before adding it. Otherwise the look is very modern and easy to clean, but the taste is awful.

Do not buy that product - waist of money

published

Water is running to quick through the coffee and filter - the coffee taste like lukewarm water with something in it.
I am using three paper filter at once to achieve the taste of coffee - forget the plastic filter supplied with it.
What a waist of money that was.

Looks Good But it's a Crock

published

I can handle lukewarm coffee, as disappointing as that may be: all I have to do is make my coffee and then zap it up in the microwave for 15 seconds and my coffee is at a good temperature. Then again, I shouldn't have to. My real gripe is the "anti-drip" feature, that stops the unit from dripping while you take the carafe off the machine. My usual experience that it also stops the coffee from flowing INTO the carafe so that I wind up with freshly brewed coffee all over kitchen bench. It's a crock. Keep it simple sunbeam. Just a funnel with a hole in the bottom might be more effective.

Good product but steam gets into the LCD display

published

I've used this product for 2 years and like it, but recently I've noticed the LCD display getting filled with water from the steam. Even the buttons seem to have water in it.. can't get rid of it & don't know how to clean it.. the buttons don't work properly at all now.. haven't heard back from Sunbeam Customer service.

Poor performance - faulty timer

published

I just bought this machine yesterday and see I'm not the only one disappointed that the coffee is only lukewarm. That's just ridiculous... Don't they test these things?
The other problem with this unit is the AUTO function cannot be set because the LCD does not display ‘SET CLOCK’ when the Program button is pressed (as per the instructions) so I cannot proceed to the next steps. Anyone else?
It's a great looking coffee machine, but it's almost useless. I'm returning this unit today..

FYI: It wasn't worth keeping - I offloaded it and now brew manually using a plunger carafe and a filter basket. My coffee is hot and actually very good. I plan to buy a Moccamaster one day.

The power light is on but not heating up nor filtering/dripping out coffee. Please advise.

We purchased our Sunbeam yesterday and followed the pre use cleaning instructions. The coffee filtered as expected but only luke warm so today tried it leaving it on the warmer for 20 minutes after brewing and still only luke warm - is this normal? Being a basic unit there is no option for heat control and we like our coffee hot.

My coffee machine seems to be taking an extraordinary long time to brew - it never did in the past. Instead of a light/steady stream flowing into the carafe, it is now just drips one drop at a time - took 15 mins to brew up to the 4 cup mark (??) - also the coffee tastes 'burnt' - have had the unit for over 3 years now and never had a problem, until this week. Have cleaned the unit by running through a 'cycle' with just water/lemon juice in an attempt to clean the water hose and spout - same problem occurred this morning. Wondering if the spring from the filter holder (that the carafe pushes up when placed on the hot plate) may be worn out and not opening up fully when I place the carafe in - ???? - any suggestions (or has the unit just come to the end of its days?).

Thank you

That is way long for a brew especially in the morning. I would try removing the valve assembly that allows the coffee to drip into the pot and give that some close attention. Be very careful not to lose any parts and take note of how it comes apart. Take photos as you go. The silicone rubber seal you can see when you remove the filter basket and look inside, is fragile so be careful cleaning it. These parts can not be bought on their own, you have to buy the 2 baskets and valve as a unit (the Brew Group I think it called), which is about $30. Thoroughly clean all parts and test the spring action when reassembled. It should have about 12 mm of stroke.

Hope this works
