Wake up to the smell of burning countertop!
Caught Fire! Do not buy
We bought this coffee maker for a rental property and it literally caught fire and melted a brand new countertop. Sunbeam refused to take responsibility and actually claimed that we must have removed the thermostat from within the faulty product. Avoid this coffee maker at all costs!

Machine perfect, carafe busted!
I purchased my 3rd sunbeam PC7900 yesterday from Big W and we enjoyed our coffee this morning.
However after washing the carafe it cracked then fell apart under the handle! After reading the reviews on here it seam to be a common issue. I wish I had read these review before purchasing it. I have contacted customer support and hopefully I'll get some assistance in the matter.
I have always used sunbeam and never had an issues, i had never purchased this model before though. Will now wait and see what they say.

Lukewarm coffee everytime
I bought this unit for my husband who loves to experiment with coffees, the unit works well,is easy to clean, brews a nice coffee but unfortunately even after leaving it on the hot plate, the coffee is lukewarm...not even close to warm,We have to put the coffee cups in the microwave afterwards, defeats the purpose...
Makes nice coffee..easy to clean
Just can't get a hot cupper without putting it in the microwave

unit won't heat
Had this machine for just over 12 months so the warranty is shot. The on/off button is not turning on ergo cold coffee. It worked earlier today but when i went to reheat after 2 hours as the heater switches off after 2 hours the light is not working and no heat.
Always found it fine, coffee could be hotter

Cracked Carafe onto my 3rd
It hard to get a decent looking drip filter in this day and age - this is one of the better looking one..yes i know it shouldnt be about looks but thats me. the machine is good and works well and we hand wash the carafe/jug carefully - then noticed a crack in it at the handle at the bottom (about 1yr after getting it ) at the steel band.
no idea how it appeared - contacted sunbeam - took pictures of it - waited for the person (3 weeks) to contact their supervisor initially hopefully it would be replaced but they said we dont replace cracked j...Read more

Poor extraction
Very disappointed with this unit. Have to use double the (recommended)amount of ground coffee to get a half decent cup of coffee.. Had a competitors equivalent for years and no complaints. This unit also does not appear to provide hot enough coffee - maybe the reason for weak coffee result.
Like the look of unit
Brews weak Luke warm coffee -seems to have poor extraction on fresh ground beans

Love this machine, except for the sudden broken cafare
We have used this machine on average 5 days a week for 14 months with no problems and enjoyed a great cup of coffee without a huge expense. It produces lovely coffee with easy. We have been very careful with the pot in particular, but despite our care the side busted out suddenly during a simple hand wash. The glass is extremely thin. I had expected it to last a little longer.
great coffee and easy to use even when you are half asleep!
the carafe suddenly broke despite good care during washes

Great little machine!
I've had this machine for a good month now & I really like it. It's easy to use, easy to clean & I find the temperature of the coffee to be perfect (I don't like my mouth to be burnt to a crisp, but that's just me!) The timer is very easy to use as well.
Temperature of coffee, ease of use.

Very Poor coffee maker
This machine makes a very poor product. Very heavy on coffee grounds, or a very weak drink. Not hot enough. water flows too fast causing the grounds to overflow the basket, and prevent the stop valve from working, obstructing inlet holes in top of karafe and causing water to run down onto the hotplate.
Looks great
A very "Yuk" drink of coffee

Exactly what I wanted
It is a hot coffee not a scalding one. Set the timer and wake upto the. Coffee smell. Makes my day. Programable timer is extremely simple to use. When I want a coffee it's there already made in the morning and at the right temperature to drink straight away. Easy to use easy to set up in the morning. A no fuss fresh cup of coffee in the morning from whatever bees you want.
Simple clock and programable.
If you like your coffee steaming hot it's not for you

Bad product(karafe cracked suddenly and expensive to replace)
At first the product seemed good as I like the timer setting option (though I've not really use it). Unfortunately, the karafe is of great disappoint as it suddenly cracked being a 10 months old product. More disappointed when the customer service(Adam) at their headoffice was rude and impatient in handling my complain. All he could said was to contact their local service centre and instead of advising the cost of a new karafe, he hung up abruptly. Later I found out that it would cost about $42.00 to get a new one.
Don't think I'll be...Read more
replacing the karafe being fragile/poor quality and the cost seems to be more expensive than the machine itself . Probably it's better for me to take a chance with other cheaper brands (had some cheap ones and they all lasted for many years). Definitely "no more Sunbeam for me". Had bad experience with their chopper/blender years ago, didn't last a year as well. Timer Expensive Parts. Bad customer support service.1 comment

Good coffee but water in buttons!
Ours is a temperamental little thing. Sometimes it works but sometimes the water gets in the buttons and they don't work. I think we need to get it replaced on warranty. I agree with the lukewarm coffee. I usually heat the milk up. Still, a nifty little machine. We love it.
Good coffee, fairly quick.
Water in buttons.

We purchased our Sunbeam yesterday and followed the pre use cleaning instructions. The coffee filtered as expected but only luke warm so today tried it leaving it on the warmer for 20 minutes after brewing and still only luke warm - is this normal? Being a basic unit there is no option for heat control and we like our coffee hot.

My coffee machine seems to be taking an extraordinary long time to brew - it never did in the past. Instead of a light/steady stream flowing into the carafe, it is now just drips one drop at a time - took 15 mins to brew up to the 4 cup mark (??) - also the coffee tastes 'burnt' - have had the unit for over 3 years now and never had a problem, until this week. Have cleaned the unit by running through a 'cycle' with just water/lemon juice in an attempt to clean the water hose and spout - same problem occurred this morning. Wondering if the spring from the filter holder (that the carafe pushes up when placed on the hot plate) may be worn out and not opening up fully when I place the carafe in - ???? - any suggestions (or has the unit just come to the end of its days?).
Thank you
Noela

That is way long for a brew especially in the morning. I would try removing the valve assembly that allows the coffee to drip into the pot and give that some close attention. Be very careful not to lose any parts and take note of how it comes apart. Take photos as you go. The silicone rubber seal you can see when you remove the filter basket and look inside, is fragile so be careful cleaning it. These parts can not be bought on their own, you have to buy the 2 baskets and valve as a unit (the Brew Group I think it called), which is about $30. Thoroughly clean all parts and test the spring action when reassembled. It should have about 12 mm of stroke.
Hope this works
Lance
Thanks so much for your suggestion, Lance - will give it a try.
