Terrible service.
I have been ringing every day since Monday asking for invoices for 2 building insurance policies to pay in full and never received after being promised after each phone call.
This morning I rang again to speak to a supervisor and ended up hanging up on the guy on the phone who would not put me through. Today I cancelled both building insurance policies and went with another provider. Waste of my time.

Worst advise ever!!!
I have been with Suncorp for few years now on multiple policy cars and home and contents (15%discount). I renew this year with an increase of 150%!!!! I negociate over the phone to get my home insurance down to 50% from the first quote who was $5000 to $2480 but still cannot pay full amount upfront. I am asking for monthly payement but need to pay an extra 15 % fees.... so I try to negotiate again but the supervisor advise me that I may look elsewhere if I can't pay....disgusting answer. They will push landlord to go without insurance or relocate.

BEWARE, you may be told your not covered when you lodge a claim even though you are.
Called claims to lodge my claim and was told I wasn't covered before the consultant even gave me the opportunity to lodge so they could assess the claim before declining or accepting it, ( turned out I was covered). Had to fight to put my claim though, was given incorrect information and to date we are at 12 different consultants in different parts of the company who have been in touch about this claim. If you are insured with Suncorp make sure any conversations you have over the phone are recorded and record any face to face conversation on yo...Read more

Cannot understand their own product
Trying to renew insurance policy, 4 policy's with them. To renew house and contents and possibly a lower cover, spent 4 hours on phone and 2 visits to branch, still no success I have now three renew notices for three different amounts. They would not match RACQ but their review are terrible as well. Might cancel and renew after one day no insurance. Bet it will be hundreds of dollars cheaper for the next year!!

Be very careful with Suncor if it’s a holiday home or rental
This seems to be a re-occurring thing with Suncor first year insurance cover is good and nothing is too much trouble yes we insurance will be fine
then the next year the prices go up incredibly they put us in a situation with our holiday house saying it had to be insured under the landlords insurance even though we weren’t renting it out total cost $600 more than normal
Went to another insurer and you guessed it $600 less for more coverage and $1000 less in access the girls are great when you ring up except if you’ve got a problem they quic...Read more

Suncorp rip off.
Recently retired I decided to check payments. Was paying almost $4k a year so I got a quote from another company. Theirs was $2k for the same coverage. Rang Suncorp and they matched it. Would be nice if they paid me back for all the rip off over 35 years.

First claim after storm. No progress after 6 weeks
Lodged my first claim on a policy held for over a decade and paid the excess to expedite the claim. Two attendances at my residence. Had to chase them up. Intimated the claim may be denied on the basis of the down-pipes being too far apart and/or maintenance. No action of their behalf despite asking for letter giving their position on coverage. Claims people are hard to get hold of and claims appear to be shuffled around this giant corporation. I did not receive the requested letter on coverage. I subsequently withdrew the claim due to Suncorp's unacceptable delay. They appear to delay and look for ways to avoid coverage rather than clearly communicate and resolve matters in a professional and timely manner.

Takes months, covers nothing
Worst company. Took months for the claim to be processed. Then found they wormed their way out of coverage using any excuse they could. had been with them 6 years and left high and dry when we needed them.

Had to leave because of the premium increase
We were completely covered by Suncorp for the Brisbane 2011 floods. They were amazing. Less than 2 years later we discovered that the insulation we had in the walls before the flood had been removed by builders but never replaced. It took months and many, many phone calls until finally a fantastic employee was assigned to our case and got it sorted. We also had our mortgage with Suncorp. Unfortunately by 2014 our home and contents premiums had gone up 708 %. We changed both home insurance and mortgage to Westpac. Seems now though that all insurance companies are charging flooded properties massive premiums without the option to opt out - as if all 5 floodgates of the dam are going to be releasing all that water again

Waste of money - Fine print should read “We love your premium for no compensation benefits”
I have chosen as my Landlord insurance provider mainly due to known brand name and competitive premium (which however has been increasing year on year significantly). Easy to set up and gave a piece of mind, but totally misleading, which I only found out after 4 years of policy payment when lodging a claim for some significant damages caused by tenant. Lodging claim online was easy, however progressing the claim has been absolutely not acceptable. 5 months of dealings between Strata and Suncorp with no win for landlord. Fly screens are not cove...Read more
red by Strata or Suncorp. Floorboards water damage assessment and resolution has many fine print/grey areas. Suncorp will do anything to get out of the claim. I disagree with my claim outcome, as it doesn’t make any logic sense. Dispute is going nowhere. Cancelling my policy. Very bad customer experience for first time ever in 12 years. Customer service beyond joke. Put money aside for repairs/claim through bond for required repairs rather than feeding them to insurance providers who only waste your time through the claim process with result “rejected” after months in processing.Similar opinion? Doesn't actually cover anything!
We've been insured for the past 4 years. Recently had a claim as our tenants absolutely trashed the house and stopped paying rent. Nothing was covered at all, not even the lost rent!! We couldn't believe it. We've always had positive experiences with our car insurance through Suncorp but they have been absolutely useless with our investment property. We'll be looking for a new insurance company.

They just reject most claims
I have attempted to claim motor burnout after air conditioning unit failed. As usual Suncorp denied the claim stating it was not contents. Don’t insure with this company. Never had a successful claim.

Suncorp via Resilium
Have had resilium home and contents insurance for a few years now. It's an average price. We got it thru a broker as we have a granny flat we rent on airbnb and wanted something that we considered "top shelf" but at a good price. Not sure we would be covered for anything out of the ordinary but at least we have a broker fighting for us just incase I suppose. Our suburb Berowra was hit by large hail just before christmas and I think it was labelled as a natural disaster. Called them the next day to hear on the phone the resilium claims numbe...Read more
r was answered as something like "part of the GIO group " & later calls were answered by Suncorp. Assume both are Resilium and Suncorp are Gio owned. Anyway, never had to wait more than a few minutes on the phone - I went direct to suncorp and for a few queries thru our broker - both ways they were surprisingly easy. I cannot fault them even after reading many of the other reviews on this site. The day I first called them the woman on the line said we could get a tradie of our chose to fit our hot water system if we wished (I did) and they would reimburse us - I did this and they certainly did. Only a few days later we had an accessor on our door -(this was around 23rd december!) wow super quick as the entire suburb was smashed and I knew there were many worse off than us. The guy said within 24 hrs of the "natural disaster' in our suburb, suncorp had arranged flights and accomodation for 4 accessors from melbourne to fly up here and get going on visiting properties. He was a good young guy and was very positive to everything we pointed out as broken or damaged and did not argue a thing. I asked to arrange all my own trades and quotes for all repairs which they agreed to so I got 1 quote for each of the things damaged (like colourbond roof, solar pool cover etc) and submitted them. They were approved within just a couple of days and we had the money in our account a few days after that. I am totally amazed the process was so easy. Well done resilium / suncorp we will be staying on as loyal customers. I must note - we used to bank with suncorp as their morgages were very cheap at one point. I would have to say it was the worst banking experience I have EVER had. They were totally apalling. I spent hours waiting on the phone so many times waiting for someone to talk to and generally gave up. I found them arrogant and uninterested whenever I did get thru. At great time and expense, I moved all our business out of suncorp bank. When I first heard the word suncorp in relation to our home insurance I was mortified but could not have been more astounded as to the outstanding, fast and efficient service. Happy customer.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Keep away from GIO and mother company Suncorp Home Insurance
I have been a loyal customer for 39 years, having 5 other policies with GIO/Suncorp and his is the first claim ever due to the Sydney hailstorm damage in December 2018. Have given me the runaround for over 2 months and at the end they are telling me that they cannot do the repairs due to the fact that part of the damage does don't comply with the latest building rules. The house was built in 1981. They propose to pay me a minimum amount and have me do the repairs myself which will cost more than twice to what they propose to pay.

They will do whatever it takes not to pay out
I have been a customer with Suncorp for a few years for a landlord insurance policy. I made a claim as the tenant vacated the property without paying a month worth rent and a lot of damages to the property. When the claim was made, Suncorp refused to pay the 1st month rent as they requested me to cover the 1st month rent from the bond. And I had use my own money to clean and repair the property.
No one contacted me for the rental default claim for a month. I had to call Suncorp (over 30mins wait time to be answered) and provided the documents. ...Read more

Ruthless, Cunning, Unprofessional Suncorp
I had a business protection insurance with AAMI which was underwritten by Suncorp, any way I had a stroke, they deny the claim because they claim I had blood pressure in the past 4 years, I gave them every thing I receive from my GP which shows that he did not treat me from the so called blood pressure. I cant deal with right now due to my health, I will wait till I recovered then I will seek legal action. that happen during the commission inquiry !!!! somethings will never change.

does your insurance cover busted pipes?
1 answer
I have no idea. There were no busted pipes, so not relevant to me. The insurance company can answer that question. Most important, get them to tell you where in the policy document it is covered. You will also need to know how to connect it to the tenant.
