No competition for Apple TV
Don’t have enough options. We want to be able to add to a viewing list, we want a viewing history, not able to record either. Quality of recording is intermittent. Don’t understand question about storage space if we’re not able to record programs. iview doesn’t give you expiry date so you have no idea how long it is available for watching

Absolute Rubbish
I have had this in the cupboard for probably the last 18 months, but was forced move to it at the start of April 2018, when Telstra pushed their final update to the T-Box, removing all its internet content. The side effect of this was it also removed all of the T-Box's fantastic DLNA menu, which was the best I have used (only flaw was it had to be connected to the internet to use). This re branded Roku player, doesn't do DLNA well and it can't record Free to Air TV, the 2 things we used the T-Box for, which is did a fantastic job of. The Roku i...Read more
s continuously buffering any content better than SD, and don't get me started on coming back to a file, and wanting to start half way through. Absolutely useless product, luckily I didn't have to pay for it. I am going to buy a Fetch Mighty, so I will be out $399 because Telstra removed an excellent aspect of the T-Box (that doesn't affect the aspect the decommissioned), and from what I have read, they have also made the PVR aspect a lot less user friendly.Similar opinion? Good if you don't have a smart TV
If you have an older "dumb tv" this box works well, if you have a newer smart tv, no real benefit at all.
Pro's, small, easy to set up, quick on our NBN connection with a very clear picture, user friendly interface.
Con's. nothing really, it pretty much does what it says

A little disappointed
My father in law recently got the whole set up for his new house and he was taken advantage of a little.. we bought all new smart TV and the guy on the phone was adamant the Telstra TV addition was still needed...
It’s not. Foxtel and Netflix etc are all
Built into the TV.. so there’s now a box just sitting there! a little disappointing as their internet service is great but being told you NEED this is a little false.

switching from T-Box to Telstra TV
Many people, myself included, were forced to find some other solution to their tv recording and planning at the beginning of April, when Telstra closed their support for T-Box. Happily, us T-Box fans are still able to use the Program Guide and set recordings and continue to use the T-Box to record, while using Telstra TV or some other solution to watch SBS on Demand and Netflix and Stan, etc. My big complaint is that when Telstra withdrew their support of the T-Box, they also made some changes to the T-Box software. To be specific, the Program ...Read more
Guide no longer shows images of the show or gives complete information about the show - director, actors, year of production, decent size synopsis. I'm sure that information is still being gathered for Telstra TV guide - which I find completely difficult to use - so I wonder why Telstra can't continue to put that information in the T-Box Program Guide. second point related to this - It's still possible to record shows daily, weekly by name and time, but rather than gather these shows under a single label (for example, "Shawn the Sheep" 8 shows over the past week), each recording is shown in a list individually by the time it was recorded, making it very inconvenient to watch say three or four recent "Homelands" or "The Good Fight". We need to scroll back through all the individual recording done during that time. It's a minor matter in the total picture of our lives, but just a little more thoughtfulness on the part of Telstra would be appreciated. Their service, while good, is not at all cheap! June 7th 2018 Update: Too Expensive, Too Much Missing Too many problems: recordings fromT-box mo longer supported as guide is totally out of for order with titles and times. Even with paying an extra $20 a month for Netflix and Stan, 9 / 10 times when I search for a program or movies I want to see, either it's unavailable or only can be watched by paying an additional fee. But maybe biggest problem for me is decreased support for deaf or hard of hearing with closed captions/subtitles. SBS on Demand doesn't have them and most movies don't have them. I'm pretty disappointed in this service.Similar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

I thought they were sending me a TV
Although the TELSTRA TV box works great I thought that they were sending me an actual TV and was somewhat disappointed when all I got was a small black box! TELSTRA has taken more than four days to connect our FOXTELL even though they said it would only take 48 hours!

Lags
Doesn't work on my samsung tv. It lags which makes watching shows impossible. Good thing it was free because it is useless. Might be ok if it wasn't for the lagging. 12345678910......
That's all I have to say so this better be over 50 now. Blah blah blah blah happy?

Good if you have the subscriptions
The Telstra TV is Free in your Internet plan. It's reliable as it's only a smart box. I have FoxSports and Foxtel Now subscriptions so I use it a fair bit to watch Sports Live. The Video Quality is high, it can stream videos from my PC and it has a nice design to it. It is a Roku Device from Telstra that is great in my opinion.

It was free.... It's priced appropriately
It is clunky, lags and isn't intuitive at all.
I wasn't a fan of tbox but even it was far superior to this.
Even an el cheapo modern TV has similar features better executed than this junk.
Captions keep turning on, guide returns to the wrong time, very limited number of functions accessed by remote buttons.
I would have asked for my money back if I had paid for it.

Telstra F for FAIL
This unit is a joke, thought what an amazing deal! The unit arrived so quickly, follow up calls, very caring I thought! Then my husband connected it, not bad, but, low and behold, he couldn’t, no matter what he tried, get our tv to locate any ‘live to air’ channels! So, as our tv was quite old, we figured that we must need a new tv, which we really couldn’t afford! Found a reasonably priced one from a reliable company, and then away we went again! Husband tried for over three hours to connect this wonderful Telstra device and get the ‘free to a...Read more
ir’ channels, but the same result. So, we went back to our T Box, and got all the Free to air channels. I packed the wonderful new device back in its little box to send back, and then sent Telstra an email! Cause you can’t phone them, wait eons on the line! Told them what I thought of their new product. Then today, we speak to their Telstra person, and he admitted that, “no, you cannot get free to air tv with this product”, So, what a joke, advertised that your T Box will no longer work from the 31st March, so you are pushed into thinking you must do something for the future, so what is the answer now Telstra!Similar opinion? This is so bad it makes the T Hub look good
I was sent one of these as a "favour" by Telstra due to them not supporting the T Box any more. I cannot watch FTA TV via the unit. I cannot record on this unit. The interface is clunky and the it is as slow as treacle
It's a good thing Telstra provided this for free as the only thing it's good for is using as a doorstop

Has no mojo
Told in blep that peoples needs are changing and this is in line with that desire ...its not cant find channels cant record clunky, slow directs you to netfliks or shows whats on foxtel they don't want you to fast forward thru adds so stopped the service. No one to vent your anger at... told guy at Telstra but he does not use it so not interested I hate it and am going if possible go back to a better and older system stinks.

Effectively unusable.
• Whole experience is incredibly laggy (I'm on Telstra Cable with Speed Boost)
• Free to air navigation is terrible and not intuitive. Actually, the whole UI is woeful.
• On-Demand and Free content are all mixed in together, so unless you're subscribed to everything you're going to continually head down dead-ends.
• Can't remove the Bigpond Movies app.
• Can't set the device to hide content for services you're not subscribed to.

Slow and complicated
The interface with combined free-to-air tv and on-demand tv is a great idea and the layout of the apps are beautifully designed. However there are no instructions on how to access and switch between the two modes of television, and how to select channels in free tv. Furthermore it has trouble loading free-to-air tv; this takes forever and by then we give up to watch netflix instead because we have missed the show we originally wanted to watch.
No issues with the storage space yet as we haven't storaged anything yet nor have we recorded anything yet.

Frustrating.....
Not able to record free to air / not able to pause or rewind free to air / unable to choose channel directly on remote / sound lags when using catch up tv - looks like an old spaghetti western / pain to get to anything directly / images appear fuzzy on many shows

I don’t get the negative reviews here..
I bought my Telstra TV2 yesterday from the Telstra shop and set it up when I got home without hassle. The only annoyance is the UI when entering usernames and passwords however Apple TV is the same so no biggie there.
Using the Telstra TV is easy and intuitive. The search feature is great and searches across the catalogues of whatever streaming services you are signed up to (as long as they’re supported by apps on Telstra TV).
You can pause and rewind live TV (I’ve only tried this on foxtel however not FTA tv so can’t comment on that) which ...Read more

Needs more refinement
There is a need to constantly monitor the volume.with the the tv remote as it fluctuates constantly. It has an annoying function which asks if you are still viewing. If you are not quick enough to respond, the program will close. A bit of refinement required. Apple TV far superior.

Does the job
The good: Runs the major apps like Netflix, Stan, Youtube etc. Generally reliable and easy to navigate, even for kids.
The bad: Freezes at times and requires rebooting. Cannot add other apps outside what it offers. Telstra TV movies are pretty expensive and limited range available (no discount for Telstra broadband customers).

Very Dissapointed
I am very dissappointed in the performance of the unit. I have an apple TV that is easy to use and navigate to find shows. Reviews of the Roku unit overseas are very good but Telstra has dumbed downed the apps on their unit to the state where they are almost un-useable . The Telstra TV was easy to set up so it might be appropriate to those who are not tech savvy and don’t expect much.
