Is it a good idea to purchase a well looked after regularly serviced one owner 2010 rav4 cv manual with 290,000 kms or better to buy one with lower? Does it really matter?

I’ve just bought a 2nd hand 08 auto rav4 and am looking at taking it up the beach to Noosa North Shore, 1 big question is where is the anchor point for if you need to be pulled out? I can’t see one and my car dosnt have a nudge or bull bar. Also, how do they fare on the sand?

Hi Vanessa, unfortunately I cannot answer your questions as I haven't taken the Rav on sand yet. I would suggest consulting a 4wd place and getting some recovery points added to the car to ensure you don't damage it.

Unless you have answered your own question, "where is the anchor point.." or you don't have 4wd capability, stay on tarmac. I have a Prado full 4wd and had to tow a RAV4 about a mile to get it off the beach. This person, not only spoiled their afternoon they spoiled ours. Wherever they connected to seemed to be under the front bumper, whether that was a hook or they "Gerrymandered it", I'm not sure, but it tested OK and did the job.

I have a 2007 RAV4. Put it in for service. Told it needed new wheel bearings as noisy on long distance driving. On collection was told the problem was not wheel bearings but the differential. I asked is that why the gears are sometimes difficult to move? 201,500 done All country roads driven Shepparton to Melb,Sunshine Coast, Canberra etc.Told not worth doing!

Mayce get a second opinion, the Diff is quite an expensive job, but sometimes its about the oil in the is there enough or does it beed to be changed.

Thanks so much Chook for replying. The oil would be due for a change and yes I will get a second opinion. The thought of having to buy another car at this time of year is horrific. I was told it could be $5000.00!!!

We are locking at purchasing a 2010 RAV4. The salesman said there is isofix but we couldn't find anchor points at the back as an extra. Is that right?

Hmm, good question. I've looked and in my 2015 model the Isofix anchor points are incorporated in the back to the rear seats - each of the 3 with a plastic cover high in the back of the seat. Maybe that's where they're 'hiding' in the 2010 model - I know they've been compulsory in Aust for years.

Has anyone driven the RAV4 CV AWD on a dirt road? If so how does it handle dirt roads/ 4WD tracks?

Thank you

We have driven on the dirt road that passes Bald Rock near Stanthorpe. This road was flat and wide and well maintained and has several sweeping corners.. The driver was doing 100 km/h and we had very light rain for a while.
The only issue was suspension noise when we hit a brief rough patch. The car easily dealt with the corners and the ride was smooth, but so was the road, it was not a potholed track. We covered a few kms of dirt road in safety. The next day we had dirt on the back of the car but you have the rear window wiper.

I'm not sure made. The best way is check the prices of as many as similar conditions cars as at sites like Gumtree as well as at dealers.

I have one for sale due to upgrade. Its a 2008 model but released in 2009. Fabulous condition as mostly driven only around Canberra and few times to sydney. Never had problems with it. Very well lookin after by a friend mechanic who works at Toyota. The owner is a lady and never had an accident except from a kangaroo which slightly damaged the left front door but fixed immediately by insurance. Looking to get 16,000 or nearest offer. You can reach me thru my mobile 0451100649 if interested. Text message first please as i maybe at work. Thanks

Hi Guys, is it possible to install a front facing car seat in the middle of a RAV 4 from 2012? I found an anchor point in the middle near the back door but can only find 1 buckle for the middle. Is there a special adapter I need to buy?
Look forward to hear as our 13 and 15 year old really need the space on the sides. Thanks!

Hey im looking at a 2007 Toyota Rav 4, it has 185,000 km's on it and it's an automatic. I was wondering if this Rav 4 has to many Km's on it or not?

It's over the odds, but not by a lot. Have a look at the service log book; has it been serviced at country garages? If so, chances are most of those kilometres are highway kays, which is fine. If it's mostly city driving, that's not so good. All that stopping and starting puts a lot of strain on the drivetrain. Having said that, I bought a 7 year old Camry with 175,000 km and got rid of it recently at 16 years / 460,000 km and nothing much had ever gone wrong with it. It's still going (I passed it on to a friend). That's a common story with Toyotas.

Keith2
Keith2

I know I'm 4 years late, but anyone relying on log books is asking for trouble, as they are easily tampered with and falsified. For $10 I can get a stamp made, that looks genuine and use it to stamp the missed service dates.
Judge Judy and Meriam (Peoples Court) always give the best advice: "BEFORE buying have a qualified mechanic inspect it and give you a written report".
