Best buy
My Rav4 is used mainly for my work related travels. Being a driver of toyota for approximately 10 years now, I was really eager to drive this car. With no doubt, it delivered my expectations. I regularly send my rav4 for a semi annual service at the toyota centre. No issues since bought and have always performed great!

Wouldnt ever recommend or buy another!
I have a 2016 Rav4 GXL auto which is a company car, and have had multiple issues. I drive approx 30000 kms a year for work, through regional and remote NSW, often without mobile service and this car makes me so stressed in these situations as it is unreliable.
First time driving on dirt on factory tyres (not at high speed either mind you!) and the back slid out and across the road, andI had to get ATTs fitted straight away. Drives terribly in the wet, if you accelerate when its raining (ie changing speed zones) the back starts to fishtail. Veh...Read more

Great Car
Bought the Rav in 2013 and drove it to from Sydney to Darwin a month after purchase. Never missed a beat and the diesel covered around 700km to a tank. Last week, 2018 drove Syd to Gold Coast and the fuel economy was way better. I did 900km on a full tank- got all the way to the coast and then some. The diesel must have loosened up and I was very pleased with the distance. Only had one issue on the way when the AWD warning light came on at 110 kph and I felt the car labour suddenly. Had to stop and disconnect the battery in the middle of no where for half hour and it seem to reset the system. No problems on the return trip so far.
Would buy one again.

Great car
Car is nice to drive, very comfortable, really happy with purchase and would tell everyone. I like the white color paint and leather interior. Love boot space and drive, I got automatic. The air con is powerful and lights are strong. The nav is not so good and why I didn’t give excellent rating.

Love my new wheels!
This vehicle drives beautifully. No noise, great handling and smooth on the road!
There is nothing I dislike in the interior. Very smooth lined yet practical and no where to store clutter which is great!
Great legroom and love the radio.
Great reliability and fantastic mileage! Love that my car is diesel so this helps with the the running costs and maintenance too, that is for sure.

Rav 4 you beauty!!
If you are looking for an affordable, low maintenance, fuel efficient family car. Rav 4 is just the perfect car for you.
I love the new sleek look. Excellent stability. The boot space is simply awesome. Once I had to drop 4 relatives to airport and their 4 large suitcase and 4 carry on bag got easily fir in the back.
Very fuel economic and even though not a V6 but got the kick.
Love the dashboard. The combination of blue and white light in the dashboard really works well.
Another huge plus is Rav 4 holds its value well so if you thinking of upgrading you can expect a good value for money.

Very economic
We purchased our RAV4 about 10 weeks ago. We chose AWD auto with diesel. Found it to be very economical. Doesn't have a large fuel tank but can do approx 650 Ks. A 500Ks trip cost me less than $40. Going from a V6 petrol to this was amazing in consumption. It rides well and is reasonably comfortable. ( Again only comparing to my previous car ) Has some good features. Would recommend it.

The best car ever!
I am very happy with my Rav4, a big car which is so easy to drive. I am happy with the consumption, very economical, I had 5,9l/100km out and the lowest in was 8.0l/100km. Even I have chronic back pain the seats are very comfortable and even when I drove three hours continuously I had no problems. It is a beautiful car and I hope I will have it for more than 10 years from now. Since I bought the car, except service, I never had any problem with it. So I am very happy and I think I am lucky to drive such a beauty, my Toyota Rav4!
Purchased in June 2021 at Toyota Dealers for A$48.00.

Good alround vehicle solid reliable typical Toyota not exciting
The Rav4 is a solid performer on the road with sufficent power for overtaking and keeps up with traffic even on the hills.
The whole package is so Toyota, slightly bland but solid reliable able good alround no let downs but little to excite
I expected better fuel economy. I spend a lot of time on the highway and get in the low 7s per 100km. I have done better in an Aurion and not much worse in a Commodore 3 litre
The Rav is comfortable for the front occupants but its more basic in the back.
Noisy when stationery but quiet on the road.
I neither like nor dislike the Rav but its good to drive

A great car for my needs
Other than a Nissan X Trail for my wife several years ago this is the first new car I've bought. Great to drive and lots of handy feature. This is a diesel so economical (7 - 7.5 L per 100 Km though I'm rarely in heavy traffic / sometimes a little better when highway only travel). The diesel provides good touring distance per tank - petrol version may be somewhat limited range. The 2.2 litre turbo engine makes it good around town and for touring. I think the comparable Nissan X trail with 1.6 litre engine may be somewhat underpowered when loade...Read more
d. Cruise control works seamlessly and noise level is quite reasonable. The control screen is easy to operate for audio, etc. I like features such as the USB input which means I can use podcasts on USB sticks when driving distances. 2 12Volt plug inputs in the front are handy e.g. when charging a phone and running a sat nav. Blue tooth for phone is very handy and the reverse camera makes parking easy. Legroom is generous though I'm < 80Kg and not particularly tall - the elevated seating position is good for visibility and the seating position is much more comfortable than my previous Ford which had my legs more outstretched in sedan position. Reliability has been excellent to date (18 months) except for an initial problem with the signal amp in the radio that took about 6 weeks for Cardiff Toyota to sort out. Delivery time for part was 4 weeks (from Japan)!! The model I bought was well fitted and the deal included roof racks and tow-bar. I prefer the fabric seats rather than leather and don't need features such as seat warmers where I live. I'm a bit surprised that this model does not include satnav though not a problem as my phone has Googlemaps... One excellent feature is that the RAV offered more load space than competitors' models and the back seats fold down flat - so it's ideal for a road pushbiike, or my band gear; and will fit a mattress (and lots of gear) for camping. The car pulls well with load though doesn't rate a high towing capacity ( < 1 tonne). It easily handles my camper trailer and "Thule' roof cargo capsule. The car's so good my brother and I went for a road trip and after re returned home he bought one the following day.3 comments
I think the base model Rav4 is pretty underwhelming in the style department though gives a buying option for people on a limited budget.
The RAV easily towed my old camper-trailer and I recently updated with a CUB Weekender ( < 500Kg ) - towed it from Sunshine Coast to Newcastle and car handled well throughout the trip. While this dies... Read more
el version is only rated to tow up to 1000Kg, the RAV easily handles lighter rigs. Fuel consumption went from 5.8L / 100Km unloaded on the trip North and around 8L / 100Km on the towing trip home. On the way home I travelled at 105 Km/p hr (close to the 110 Km/hr) speed limit when safe; and up to 110Km/hr on the trip North .December 2017 and no regrets re this car.

High Oil Consumption in Diesel Rav4 2013 GXL
Drives great, like the interior but my RAV4 has an oil consumption problem. Have taken it back to Toyota who put it on a monitoring program and then they recommended to replace the pistons under warranty. However, I still have the same problem. Very disappointed that this issue is occurring in the first place with a Toyota vehicle.

Engine oil problem
Be warned when you buy a Toyota Rav 4 Diesel engine SUV. I have been back to Pennant Hills Toyota 4 time as the low engine oil light turns on every after 4,000 to 5,000 km. They keep telling me to come back to do a engine oil consumption test each time. They says its Toyota's policy, they really try to make it so inconvenient and hard. Surely there is a problem. My warning is beware when you a Toyota Rav 4 Diesel engine SUV, because they will make you go through so many hurdles.

Poor Design, Weak Diesel Engine, Bad Service, Huge Backflip and I got rid of it before it seized
Let's just say we've been Toyota owners in the past when it was rare to be a Toyota Owner, when the great mob owned mostly Holden's and Fords and a few Valiants. For a multitude of reasons we moved to another Japanese brand because Toyota dealers could be described as follows, "Unfortunately, Toyota Dealers in many areas, have become immoral and unethical in their dealings with their major stakeholders, namely, their customers". Nice way to say there are many crooks running Toyota Dealerships. Well unfortunately for me I needed to buy a 2013 ...Read more
RAV4 and from day one it has been a horrible experience, no dealer wanted to return calls, emails or give you a test drive or be bothered with you, I have yet to test drive one, Toyota Australia seems to be Ok up to a point but the dealer network does not rate high. After securing a new Diesel Auto RAV, it was sold on me after the deposit was placed two days prior, now isn't that unethical, then it was delayed again, then it arrives without Alloy Wheels as promised, but what I suppose irks me the most is the towing rating, my car has now become the 500 kg Lemon or Orphan because Toyota have backflipped and uprated it for future production, I thought I would test this theory and take it for a valuation at two very separate Toyota dealerships and one unrelated non Toyota dealership and each one said, as this is a 500 kg Diesel model, sorry mate can't give you what you want as trade. So nice of Toyota under engineering this car so now it depreciates more than usual, very kind Toyota Australia, but the best bit, all production from July will be rated at 1000 kg, What, why the wait? The rating is still pathetic for the strength of the engine and it is strong, pretty noisy at times, but very torquey and very economical. I do like the diesel no question, but there was no first engine oil change service and after 5000k the oil is down and very very dirty, so I have decided to get it changed earlier and I would suggest others do the same as cheap insurance. But, the issue is Toyota need to retro fit and upgrade all the diesel models fitted with tow bars to 1000 kg at the very least sold prior to July as I will no longer buy any Toyota product ever again until I am satisfied with the outcome, letter has been sent to Toyota Customer Care, although a direct email or phone number for [name removed] would be even better. I managed to unload the POS and got a great trade in on the back of Toyotas perceived and over rated quality, if you've got a full sized spare model check the wheel well for rust, mine was rusty, these things are truly junk, good riddance, worst car I've owned since a Mark 3 VW Golf. Diesels Economy and strength Toyota Australia, Most toyota DealershipsSimilar opinion? Write a review on ieatwords.com.au!

Love my new car
I have recently traded my Mazda cx7 for a rav4 I love the car so far it is great on diesel very practical for the kids and I. Love Toyota can't fault them as for Mazda well that thing was a lemon.and for the price difference the base model rav is great I think we had the luxury model cx7 I would never buy leather seats again for where I live.
fuel great, smooth ride for a small 4wd
Not wide enough for car seats and someone to use middle seat

New RAV4 2013
Just purchased a new RAV4 2013 GX 2.2 TURBO DIESEL. AUTO, for the wife, price $33,400, with 12 months rego.
The finish is top notch, the ride is smooth, auto is silky smooth, dash setup is awkward, could have been designed better.
Blue display at night on dash, is super cool, very happy with purchase,,so far.
